Mindlessly counting in the "Counting Threads" (which are supposed to be a game of some kind---go figure) or VIEWING the "Counting Threads"???

I was just scrolling down the Forum Games and noticed that there were 154,707 VIEWS of the "Let's Count To 1 Million" thread. These are people going in and looking at the numbers that other members mindlessly added.

I don't get it.

I don't get quantum physics, either---but at least that takes some thought and imagination.

Close to 155,000 times??? To see numbers being added?

What conversation do you think they want to "add" to? (BTW---good one, I didn't catch that at first;))

It must be an accountant's convention!

No, they are separate. If you post in a thread, it adds to the post count for that thread. If you just go in and look and leave without posting, it counts as a 'view'. Those 155,000 are the VIEWERS only.

Hmmmm.....well maybe they're going in to see how far it's come (I know, I know....all you have to do is look at the post count to figure it out) but perhaps that doesn't occur to some peop.....ah hell, I don't know.

I think I found out "Which Is Stupider".....the "Counting DOWN" thread, which now has 336,632 views. One of the most popular threads EVER!

Probably because looking at numbers is much more stimulating than porn.

I must confess that I posted an arbitrary number on one way back as a joke. I thought at the time that it was incredibly stupid. The fact that it has continued this long and attracts so much interest makes me wonder about who is looking at those things all the time. Probably the same people who, when not looking at the counting threads, stare at a blank wall for hours.

I think people are checking that their lucky number hasn't come out yet. I for one will be there to post 65288 on the I,000,000 to 1 countback if I live that long and if some other bastard doesn't get there before me! And then of course there may be people who have placed bets on which thread will get to the end first.

Eagerly awaiting the countdown on the 1000 albums!
