I have a real quick story, written just for you guys. Unfortunately, it doesn't fill the 5000 character mark yet, so I'll have to flesh it out, add more details and stuff.
Watch for it soon!

Actually, I need a LOT of time to rework things. After reading some of the stories posted on here, I'm humbled. I really need to work on it a while.

Unlikely. You understand grammar and spelling, which already puts you ahead of a large number of posters, and no one can say anything about your imagination or storytelling abilities until you actually post. Unless you're already getting advice from somewhere you're likely to do better by posting what you have and moving on than by trying to perfect what you've got.

Well, after reading one of Katie Girl's stories, I realize her characters have depth and, well, character. Mine don't come alive. That's step one.

Hmmm. Well, as long you're actually writing. . .
But you're comparing yourself to something that Katie Girl does better than anyone else I've read on this site. In fact, one of my more frequent comments is, "can't get into the heads of your characters." Not that it isn't something to strive for, but sometimes a story won't permit it. That doesn't always mean it's a bad story. You have to find your own style.
The important thing is to write, and when it doesn't come out the way you want, write some more. Don't beat yourself up over it, and don't just think about writing, write!

Yeah, like Katie Girl's stories, the stories that stick in readers minds, the stories that hang out on the front page for more than a week or two, have something in common.
The stories that get read again and again, commented on and praised... have something extra.
Sadly, a new writer won't find this 'something extra' too often. Rarely do they strike it rich in the ratings, or gather a following of readers. They hardly are ever mentioned in the forums. Some new writers quit and never post again. Other new writers examine their work and learn. Katie Girl did. Kimiko did. While other writers surrender, others try harder, with new knowledge and experience.
Katie Girl has written more stories than we'll know, and she continues to improve. It seems hard to imagine her next one will be better than her last, but it probably will. Same with kimiko, who has found her own formula for success.
The point is to write and to post and to learn and to write and to post and to learn. Or you can just post one and probably be disappointed with the whole effort.
Anyway, good luck... let someone know if you need help... drop your favorite writers a PM if you need some suggestions. And when you post... well, let me suggest you find and read some of the threads in this forum about comments and ratings.

Wow, my ears were burning! Thanks, Blade!
The thing is, "striking it rich in the ratings" is more about appealing to the masses than it is about writing anything remotely resembling literature. I admire some people here who don't really try to be that popular, and just write what they feel. I'm a total sellout compared to them. I just have fun trying to get people off.

Again, thanks Caffeine for the compliment. I'd be honored to look at your story, if you're having problems.

And your stories get me off every time!

Caff, you don't need to wait until it is over 5000 words, post what you have done as a thread in the stories forum section. You may be pleasently suprised. I also shared most of your concerns before I posted my Breaker 19 story. I was overwhelmed by the feedback. Yes, I also know that I can't compete with the great erotic writers who contribute to this site. But I'll keep trying 'til I can. Your grasp of grammar and spelling are a gift that I envy.
I hae just written my second story and am posting in the form of Diary posts. Very different style to my first, almost all narative and very little dialogue. I wanted to play with a different style and am looking forward with some repidation to the feedback.
I for one promise to be constructive.
Go on.... Give it a go!:-D :-D

I think you might consider posting it on the Sex Story Section of Forum. Nophest stated that he wanted to see more threads here. I obliged with Sex Education the Right Way, and MM has just put another one up.
I like them better here anyway myself.
As always, eagerly awaiting your next literary gem. If you aren't finished with it, post it as a serialized story, that would interesting as we would all be left hanging, waiting for your next installment. WRITE. MAY THE PEN BE WITH YOU.
Don't get too hyper on all that Caffieine (HAH)
