If it was long ago someone, or many have been remiss for clearly you are exactly that.

 

ITME, don't be so sure that "America" is a country, because it is not. The country that I currently live in is the United States of America or USA for short, it is not America.

No doubt in my mind that I have spent far more time in Canada than either of you (Brandi & you) have spent in the USA. Believe me when I say that I truly love Canada and it's many attributes, from BC to the Maritimes, it is unique in so many ways. Since the War of 1812, the USA and Canada have been very good friends and neighbors, having the same basic roots, we are like kinfolk.

But many Canadians also are very thin skinned about their relationship with their neighbors to the South, they bristle at the mere implication that they are so similar.

Sometimes I may go overboard in teasing them about it, but it is so easy to get some of them riled. This brings to mind two of my nieces, who live in Windsor, very close to the US, in fact one of the husbands works in Detroit and commutes daily. One niece is very touchy about this, and gets thoroughly pissed off. The other laughs it off and counters with a poke or two, all in good fun. Which one do you think I joust with most often?

Frankly 10G I couldn't give a shit. If I say to my next door neighbour, "Oh, he's from America" you know what they think? They think "He's from that country over the Atlantic with 50 states called the United States of America." They don't think "He's from Canada/Greenland/Mexico/Colombia/Nicaragua/Barbados" or anywhere fucking else.

Over here, in England (which is what I was talking about in my post, quite clearly, and somewhere "I have spent far more time in" than any of you), America = United States of America, France = Republic of France, Ireland = "Northern or Southern?" and Holland = The Netherlands. etc etc etc etc etc ad infinitum.

Now because of this fucking ridiculous pettiness, I'm going to blow up the internet!
