Sweden stupidly dropped the rape charges probably most out of exhaustion .

We need some check on all of the secrets the government is keeping from the people.
He is about all we have.

 

My problem is that he was in discriminate and did not give any thought to the people who gave us secret information that have now been made public . There is no reason that informants should ever trust us again .

There has never been any reason for informants to trust us in the first place.
Our own politicians have given out quite a bit of secret information and we do not care.
At least Assange will give out information on the politicians themselves and what they really do under cover.

Perhaps they didn't have a reason to trust us in the first place but now they have a very good reason not to trust us in the first place .

If Julian Assange had given secrets about the Manhattan project Or the American falsification about landing at Normandy instead of Calais I wonder if we would be as forgiving of his self absorption.

Nearly every country in the world has very strong laws about revealing state secrets .

England even has an official secrets act.

I don't have a problem with whistleblowers who work with in the philosophy of civil disobedience but civil disobedience requires the civil disobedient to be willing to subject themselves to the laws of the land .

In the U.S. you are only blamed for revealing state secrets if you are not a politician.
Politicians can reveal state secrets and still be nominated for president.

 

I'm afraid that you were right because politicians are exempt from a lot of laws that apply to the rest of us .
