Because they aren't 'straight'. They too scared to admit they're bi or gay. Honestly, I feel bad for them that they are in a situation where they will not or cannot admit their feelings to themselves and those around them.

Being gay or bi doesn't require any romantic feelings. Sex is physical. Romance is a non-physical emotion (that can be expressed in a physical way, like sexual activity). This idea that you can be 'straight' while still engaging in homosexual activities is simply evidence of a person being unable to admit to themselves how they really are, whether because they are too weak to, or circumstances are such that doing so would somehow endanger them or their family. If you're a straight person you have sex with a person of the opposite gender. If you're gay, you have sex with a person of the same gender. If you're mostly straight but occasionally have sex with someone of the same gender, you're bi. Human sexuality is a spectrum, not necessarily a simply binary where if you're not one thing, then you must be the other.

I have seen many bi or gay men insist that straight men are afraid. Maybe some are, and then, some arent.

I find it ironic in a world where the LGBT community is looking for acceptance, that there are those in the community not willing to accept hetero. This sort of behavior only makes it more difficult for those who lack the understanding to accept people as they are. Demanding that they accept, when there are those of you who wont accept them is part of the reason why we have the walls we have. Its statements like that, that keep my transgendered child from wanting to go out. Hate speak needs to cease

My child is pan sexual. I understand a lot more then people think. My child is FTM. We speak candidly all the time. My child knows that I dont care what choice is made for a partner, as long as my child is happy, I am happy.

A same sex event doesn't make someone gay, bi or anything. My issue is when someone of the LGBT community doesnt accept one from the Hetero community. Notice the thread title? Some of the comments in here? It is a blanket statement that many people find offensive.

Accepting peoples personal views of their own sexuality must be done by all, not just the hetero community. The LGBT community has far more to deal with in society, then be intolerant and make statements that probably offend others.

I want my child to be able to be pan sexual without snide looks, sneers, or people vilifying just because someone else insisted that a hetero is a closet gay. Statement like that make it harder for my child to be accepted. Many in the LGBT community dislike when heteros insist they arent gay, they are confused, why lob the statement back?

Tolerance is a two way street.

 

You want your child to be happy! We all want that for our children.

I agree with you regarding the intolerant attitudes of some in the gay community. I implore them to give everyone the benefit of the doubt the first time.

I also understand that the reason the LGBT community can appear intolerant is because of the intolerance they have suffered and continue to suffer in some parts of the world.

We can point out when people are being intolerant with grace the first time it happens and maybe even the second time. After that well there are certainly some that try even my patience!

Education is the key. It reminds of a M*A*S*H episode. The one with the crossword puzzle. They are in the mess tent when over the radio, they accuse Hawkeye for inhuman experiments. The admiral that is visiting says that we should promote propaganda that demonizes NK.

In any situation where hate, bigotry has to be overcome, there are a few things that have to happen. Education and bury the hate. One without the other will not succeed

 

You are an idealist and I applaud that but education takes time.......however we also have to live in the here and now where people get hurt and even die for being nothing more than different. In the here and now the hate and bigotry must be challenged.
