Ladies, the vast majority of pick-up lines are lame, inappropriate, repulsive, or all of the above. But were you ever surprised by one that you found endearing, and that revealed someone with integrity? I know it's difficult to judge in a single opening statement.

At my college graduation ceremony I began a conversation with a freshman girl who was giving out programs. She was beautiful, and seemed to enjoy my conversation, so eventually I asked her for a date.

She asked, "Do you always ask a girl out this quickly?"

I replied, "You are the sort of girl that when I was your age I would spend the entire semester trying to get up the nerve to ask her out. The final exam would come and go. I would miss my chance. Like you said. Most of them are lame.
If a guy is clever or original I kind of like that.
I'd like to think that he put some effort into getting my attention.
Some I've heard that were better than most

"You're so fine, you should only be washed in Woolite."

"I'm going to call you Kit-Kat bar 'cause when I saw you I thought "Break me off a piece of that!"

 

I've never been successfully picked up with a line. Most of them are puns or wordplay, and I don't "get" that easily, so I just look at them blankly or take them literally. "How would I know if heaven were missing an angel? Is there a list of them somewhere? That's a weird question to ask in a bar."

 

"Howdy ma'am, would you like to two-step?" with a smile and a tip of the hat will make my knees go weak.

 

If at a bar, how about..."Hello. Let's make a deal. I'll buy the drinks, and you tell me when I'm good looking."
