For me it's Love and Commitment which are not the best reasons, but the most honest ones. Given a choice I'd choose Romance if Lil' Donna was as receptive to it as she once was when it led to a very passionate love making. I'd write a poem or song for her and what followed (despite how lustful the sex may have appeared) was a beautiful expression rather then a self imposed, time pressed act.

Used to be the lust, the feeling of it. Now, It is love and commitment and that certain understanding that happens between lovers that have a genuine love for eac hother.

Why is it that for lust and romance it feels so fucking exciting and erotic? But for love and commitment it feels amazing but yet ohhh that feeling of lust. Nothing can compare.

 

I guess I have multiple reasons. It's often been said that persons with addictive personality traits never really kick their habit, it just transfers to something else, hopefully more positive me less self destructive. I have found really good orgasms are as good or better than the drugs and since they are rare I play the rule of percentages to keep me satisfied. The other, and this manifests in my Dom side, is revenge. I envision getting even with those who hurt me, transposing that anger while my subject is helpless to stop me. Great sex is an emotional roller coaster to me, and thus why I don't have what would be considered a normal sex life.

I do have sex with people I love and am committed to, but that's not the only way I feel connected to them. One of my boyfriends is asexual - we literally never have sex, but it's a romantic relationship. And with my sadist, S&M physically expresses our love and connection more than anything sexual does.

I don't require sex for intimacy, and I don't require intimacy for sex.

 

this is a very complicated question for me to answer. love is most important to me. i won't have sex with someone i don't love. a certain amount of commitment is also necessary but in the stage of life that i'm in right now i can't expect total commitment from either of my lovers (one male, one female). i realize that either of them could find someone at any time that they would commit to totally, which is not something that i can do with either of them at this time. i believe that there has to be a good measure of lust (pure, physical desire) in every sexual relationship, seems like it would get pretty boring without lust. romance gets me in the mood for sex but it's not a requirement, i have no problem getting in the mood without romance. i was once married to a man who i was totally commited to, i loved him with all my heart, when in the mood i lusted after him like there was no tomorrow, quiet romantic times together were like heaven but really had little to do with sex.
p.s., i've never had sex with the two of them at the same time, in case anyone is wondering.

Of course I hope I worded it for that first thought knowing that sex takes on many forms and motivations, so it's understandable for us to fluctuate between them or take pleasure in the pauses that have only feelings over a feel. As @VenusInFurze experiences with her romantic asexual, proving there are many ways to the O as the wife and I agree when you meet someone occasionally that's not your type, but after talking to them (while soaking up an uplifting positive spirit) you feel strangely attracted to them and you don't know why?
