I can speak a bit of Japanese but not a pro.

I'm getting pretty good at understanding ebonics, but I refuse to speak it.

 

I think I said this on another thread, but I speak enough of about 9 or so languages to get myself in deep shit.

 

I can speak three languages fluently (English would be my third one and the one I speak the worst), but I'm European and we're more open-minded when it comes to other languages. I also studied German, Italian, and Russian, but since I have no one to speak to in those languages I've almost forgotten them.

 

I unfortunately am like the old joke.

Geez, talk about killing the fun before the thread even starts.

I had 3 years of French in high school.
As well as 2 years of Spanish.
An ex of mine taught sign language.
And along with the swear words, I can count in Chinese.

Am I fluent in any? No. But they all came in handy when I worked in Outpatient Registration at New England Medical Center in Boston, which runs right alongside Chinatown. I probably used my French the least and Spanish the most. Just basics like your name, address, etc. The sign language was just finger spelling, and maybe two or three times, tops. But I did blow a coworker's mind, along with the patient, when I had a Chinese woman and I couldn't figure out if she was saying 39 or 59. So, I just said, "som gow or mm gow"? She started laughing and saying "mm gow mm gow". Problem solved and she was on her merry way. Well, as merry as you can be when you're on way to a doctor appointment.
