I've recently noted that some videos prevent the user from shifting position in the video using the progress slide. When a shift is attempted the pointer returns to the zero position and the video begin anew. When I hit a video that does that - if I think the video has merit - I'll download the whole thing and play it back on my PC where the slider has not been so altered.

Why would the video makers alter the video in this way? Are they saying that their damn video is so import that we MUST watch their 15 minutes of filler video showing a Japanese family sitting around the dinner table speaking in Japanese? I'm sorry - your work just isn't that important and if you force me to watch any more of it than I wish to I'll download it or, more likely, bail out. If I hit 3 such videos on a site I'll drop the site from my rotation list.

Seriously though, I know what you're talking about, but I don't remember how I fixed it. I've encountered the problem before and my solution was to either move on, download the movie, or find something else to do.

I swear that I've encountered the problem on a video, and when I come back later it's fixed, so I don't know what to tell you.

Not sure I follow you OP...your problem is it takes longer to get past the fluff than it does for your premature ejaculation?

 

He's talking about the little slider thingy that loads up as the video streams. Sometimes when you click it and try to move it further into the video, it starts the whole thing from the beginning, which is really annoying.

Key word here being ANNOYING. I have encountered it and I consider it a minor nuisance at worst. I move on and jerk it to something else. It's certainly not anything to get your panties in a twist and start a thread over.

The webmaster gets paid whenever someone opens a page with a paid ad. He/she has no interest in keeping a viewer on that page than necessary for it to count as a view. If you don't like that video, he knows you'll go to the next, which means another view for six more ads.

But, when you think about it, you're watching a video contained in a file thousands of miles away from your computer. You can stop it, play it back, play it in slow motion, even steal it and keep a copy. It's fucking amazing just to be able to see it.

I'm going to make a list of 21st century problems and this one is going to be on it.
