    Default Sarah Palin

Anybody else hoping she will be the republican candidate running for presidency? I know you Americans twice voted in a retard, but I know there are enough intelligent people over there not to let that happen a third time. It really would be in world economic, environmental and political interest, that the Democrats win in a couple of years. Sarah Palin would be the perfect candidate to make that happen.

There is no way Palin wins the nomination for the Republicans. She has outlasted her 15 minutes of fame, and will only be a side story by the time the next election comes around. She will probably hang around as a talking head, but not as a candidate. After McCain/Palin fiasco the Republicans will make an effort to put an electable name on the ballot.

What will happen in 2012 ? Hard to say. The only person declared for President is Romney.

    How Sarah Palin could win

In 2008, democrats insured that McCain would be the GOP nominee by crossing lines to vote in GOP primaries. If the dems cross lines again, to vote against Romney, for Palin, it'll backfire on them. How ?

Let us harken back to 1992. No one gave Perot, ever, a single chance against either Bush or Clinton. In the first three way debate, Bush and Clinton took to calling each other names. Perot busted in with "When are we going to stop calling names and fix what's wrong with America ?"

The audience went nuts. If the election were held that night, Perot would've won-by a HUGE margin.

If it's Palin against Obama, Obama will have to spend the entire campaign ducking a debate with her. You might think her stupid, but she won the debate with ol Joe two years ago.

No one reads from a teleprompter better than Obama, but away from a teleprompter, he's the king of "Um...uhh, uh, uh uh...umm...give me a minute...ummmm....", then when he panics, he starts quoting Che Guevara, Marx, and Lenin.

Unlike McCain, Palin will go for the jugular. She'll smoke Obama in the debate(s) and his "ummmm...uh, uh, uh..wait a minute" will be centerpiece on her ad campaign.

The northeast, Ohio, and West Coast will go for Obama, but the campaign, will again, hinge on Florida. Right now Obama is as popular as dog shit in many places, and Marc Rubio's victory in Florida means Obama won't have anywhere near the success in 2012 as he did in 08.

I never took you for inept. Anybody who thinks Sarah Palin would win in a debate against anybody must be insane... unless you define winning as reciting basic talking points and refusing to answer questions and changing them to different ones (as she did in her debate against Biden, which I guess you agree with Yeehaa that she won?). That's all she ever does, and she has no real thought behind it. She'd be demolished, assuming that you have the critical thinking skills....

Her supporters don't ever seem to notice that she goes to great lengths not to be put in the position of HAVING to debate anything, ever. Her methods of communication are all one way -- her talking, you cheerleading. She won't be interviewed by anyone other than Fox News shills like Sean Hannity. She will never, EVER put herself in the position of having to answer a tough question that hasn't been scripted in advance.

Question Who Won The Sarah Palin Joe Biden Vice Presidential Debate?

Quote Originally Posted by Yeehaarider View Post

A CBS instant poll showed that biden won the debate 46% – 21% over Sarah Palin.

    http://www.trendite.net/2008/10/02/w...round-the-web/

    ------

A CNN poll following Thursday's vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin found that 51 percent of the people surveyed thought Biden won, 36 percent thought Palin was the victor.
    http://blog.seattlepi.com/seattlepol...ves/150403.asp

    ------

    • A Zogby Interactive poll of likely voters nationwide conducted on October 2 (after the debate concluded) through October 3 found that voters picked Biden over Palin, 50 to 41 percent.

    • A Rasmussen Reports survey of likely voters nationally conducted on October 3 found that 45 percent of respondents thought Biden won, 37 percent chose Palin, and 18 percent were "not sure."

    • An October 6 Diageo/Hotline Daily Tracker Poll, "based on combined data from October 3 to October 5," found that, among likely voters from a "random, nationally representative sample," Biden won the debate, 47 to 28 percent, while 20 percent called it "a tie."

I take Sarah Palin seriously as a presidential contender. She is charismatic. Her simplistic solutions to complex, and possibly intractable problems appeal to scared, angry white people who lack the intellectual equipment to see through her cliches.

If the economy is worse in two years I give Sarah Palin a good chance of being elected president. She would do the United States far more damage than Ronald Reagan did. She is at least as stupid and ignorant as Reagan. Reagan was saved by the decline in the price of petroleum. That is not going to happen in the future.

Also, Reagan had capable advisers, and he listened to them. During the presidential campaign Palin ignored the advice of her advisers. The thought of being governed by someone who off the top of her head did not know the name of the local newspaper or The Wall Street Journal should be frightening to every thinking American.

This is America, jack. We get the kind of government we deserve!

(Which means I wouldn't be surprised if she were to get elected.)

This is not a topic to discuss Bush's administration. Open one and will discuss. 1) The financial nightmare had a lot of catalysts, including the left-wing nutjobs that pushed for home financing for all the low income families under the 'equality" umbrella. 2) As bad as this financial nightmare might seem, it is nowhere near as chatastrophic as it would have been in 50 years had the administration not undertaken the policies it did.

Takes more than listening to mainstream media to understand certain decissions. Most people are sheep, they follow what is fed to them. I don't expect the sheep to understand long term politics, I expect them to giggle or open threads like this.

It was, since the OP called the ex pres a retard. Continuing that argument in detail about his short comings or achievemnts would be derailing the thread.

    2) The sub-prime mortgages were offered by greedy financial instutions pushing for every buk they could get and had fuck all to do with 'left-wing nutjobs'.
Wow, seriousely you need a class on this? There is no one else to blame but the left wing on the sub-prime mess. Do you think banks woke up one morning and decided to lend to non-credit worthy customers?
It would be closer to the truth to say they woke up to find the government twisting their arms and demanding that they do so - or else.
The roots of this crisis go back to the Carter administration. That was when government officials, egged on by left-wing activists, began accusing mortgage lenders of racism and "redlining" because urban blacks were being denied mortgages at a higher rate than suburban whites.
The pressure to make more loans to minorities (read: to borrowers with weak credit histories) became relentless. Congress passed the Community Reinvestment Act, empowering regulators to punish banks that failed to "meet the credit needs" of "low-income, minority, and distressed neighborhoods." Lenders responded by loosening their underwriting standards and making increasingly shoddy loans.

    4) How could anyone have delayed the financial collapse of the market for 50 years?
I never said delayed "financial" collapse. A superpower needs more than steady finances to remain in that status. Past administration ensured that those requirements are met for the next 50 years. Maybe at the cost of the financial system, however it is a worthy exchange in the long run.
    5) You are an idiot.

This is a very tired and thoroughly discredited talking point. Do you honestly believe that the Federal Government has ever forced a bank to make a loan to someone who can't pay it back? You're talking about a law passed in 1977, and trying to make the case that the chickens didn't come home to roost until 2008, over thirty years later? And that the Republican Party, in control of the White House and Congress for six years, didn't bother to repeal or modify it?

You claim that this problem goes back to the Carter administration, maybe it does, but isn't it the job of succeeding administrations to correct the mistakes of the previous one. Between Carter and Obama didn't you have two Reagan Admins, one Bush snr and two Bush jnr a total of twenty years of Republican administration and they didn't tackle a problem created in the seventies, you I think are watching far too much Fox and not enough unbiased news.

Well... I have a feeling that the republican party will nominate another dufus for president because they will want someone who will play ball. While I believe that Obama is a Great Orator and a wonderful speaker, I don't think that he has the countries best interests at heart. But then how many politicians really have the countries best interests at heart? we could probably count them on one hand, though there maybe more now but I'm doubtful. Until we make the government a fightening place to be I don't see that any but the self interested rich doing all they can do to improve their own status and fuck the people who put them into office they are just stupid sheep anyway.
Thomas Jefferson: "To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves is sinful and tyrannical."

"It is impossible to make people understand their ignorance; for it requires knowledge to perceive it and therefore he that can perceive it hath it not."

My personal belief in the subprime/ mortgage meltdown is that both parties are to blame. Yes, the Democrats pushed to open up the rules to allow more people to get home loans, which put the ball in motion. The Republicans and Wall Street eventually saw how much money could be made in derivatives off these markets and allowed the system to grow out of control. Both sides benefitted from making these loans and no one in Washington had the foresight or nuts to stop the runaway train. The problem is when the train goes off the tracks everyone wants to blame the other and nothing really gets changed.

My problem with Washington and most political debates is that only the far right (Fox, Palin, Rush) and far left (Pelosi, Obama, MSNBC) are heard from. Most people I know fall in the middle of these two factions and are largely ignored by the two party system in America.

If you think Obama is far left, my friend, you really haven't been paying attention. I know, because I'M pretty far left, and Obama has not pursued any significant part of the progressive agenda.

I can agree with that..My point is that most people in America fall somewhere in the middle and are largely left out of the argument. With 2 parties you only have two choices and a lot of times I don't like either.

Bush's policies lead to two expensive wars he could not win. At least one of them was unnecessary. He also wrecked the economy, turning a budget surplus into a much larger deficit.

If the United States remains a super power it will be in spite of George the Lesser did. After the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq Osama bin Laden said that the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan bankrupted the Soviet Union and lead to the fall of the USSR. He went on to say that the U.S. occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq would have the same effect on the Unite States. So far it seems to be happening.

This is the best rebuttal of the argument that Jimmy Carter caused an economic downturn that began in December 2007 that I have read.

Exclamation Sarah Palin Mistakenly Calls N. Korea an "Ally"

In a live radio interview Wednesday with equally popular conservative host Glenn Beck, Palin twice referred to North Korea as America's ally and urged President Obama to firmly demonstrate the alliance...

she...said just seconds later: "Obviously, we gotta stand with our North Korean allies."

    ------

What is even scarier about Sarah Palin than her reactionary economic opinions is her lack of basic knowledge. Anyone who has trouble distinguishing North and South Korea reveals a fundamental ignorance of history. I wonder if she can locate North Korea on the map.
