I don't understand AngelEyes15's comment at all.
Anyway, my perspective:
I used to loathe writing. I could do it -- had done it well enough to get good marks on writing assignments in high school and college, and found myself writing a lot in my 25-year career in industry. That wasn't for pleasure; it was writing done as a necessity.
When I lost that job and separated from my wife, I stumbled across this place. I lurked for quite a while, reading stories, some of which were great, some of which were horrible. I started to wonder if I could do it, so I tried. My first efforts were pretty bad. Wordy, ponderous, cumbersome, but full of hot sex. They were actually pretty well received because of the subject matter, and it was the subject matter that caused me to take them down (some of the young ladies were, well, a bit TOO young).
By that time I was hooked.
I say, go for it. It IS a thrill to know that people are reading your stuff, even though it is posted anonymously (under a made-up user name). You'll probably get some negative votes and some troll/hate comments. That's also because of the anonymity. People can say stuff they would never say to your face.
Don't let that stop you. Write. Read. Re-write. Re-read. Stick a fork in it, call it done, and serve it to us.
You won't know if you can write erotic literature, erotic romance, or just good ol' smut unless you try, will you?
One possible way to "lose your cherry" would be to enter the current Calling All Writers Challenge. See the link in my sig, and good luck!
Don't believe everything you read.
