Default A New Race Car Combines the Best Ideas with the Latest Technology

Exactly how many people does it take to design a new car for NASCAR racing? As far as Ford’s new Taurus is concerned, the answer is many.

And they all need to be on the same page.

When the 2004 Taurus made its debut at Daytona, it represented Ford’s most synergistic effort in race car design to date. This synergy comes from all corners of the Ford empire and includes solid representation from not only the NASCAR ranks but also the real world production side. The prior version of Taurus, originally presented to the public in the 1998 Daytona 500, has provided excellent results. But its humble beginnings came after public, and, at times, cantankerous battles between various team entities that wanted to leave their mark on that specific iteration.
You can read the entire article on my website newezine.com

It's almost time to go racing in Indy and at Charlotte... It's raining in my world, so I'm going to watch the Indy 500(go Briscoe) and the Coca-Cola 600... Can't think of a better way to spend a rainy day... Jimmie Johnson is going to win tonight-he's on a roll...

I did watch Webber from Red Bull Racing win the Grand Prix of Monaco... I just saw the very end of that race...

This race should be interesting if Jr brings the same car he had at the All Star race. It was the competition yellow that beat Jr not Jimmie.

If you thought JJ was going to win, why didn't you put him on your team, RP? Oh, I know - you felt pity for me and you want me to win at least one of these weeks Bless YOU!

Of course, that's exactly why I did it... You're beating me in golf, isn't that enough???

Gorgeous Dario Franchitti won the Indy 500...

Kasey Kahne won the Coca-Cola 600... That race is 100 miles too long, at least for me... I love watching the cars race under the lights-there's nothing like it...

The length of the Coca-Cola 600 is just fine to me. I'm more glad that there is only ONE 600 mile race though. And it is/was good news when they shortened Dover and now Pocono, some definitely do not need to be 500 miles. But for me, one 600 miler a year is acceptable, especially when it ends as fast as last nights did. Fastest 600 ever.

Lap 400 -- CHECKERED FLAG: Jimmie Johnson rolls to the victory. It's his seventh at Dover, tying him with Richard Petty and Bobby Allison for most here at Dover. He's doing his post-race interview in the multi-colored wig. Yow-zeh ...
Lap 396 -- Kevin Harvick is close, but not close enough.
Lap 392 -- Jimmie Johnson has this one in hand if nothing happens.
Lap 384 -- Look at Jimmie Johnson up front, calm, cool and collected.
Lap 380 -- Twenty laps to go.
Lap 375 -- The leader is ... get this ... still Jimmie Johnson. Shocker, huh?
Lap 369 -- GREEN FLAG: Jimmie Johnson (who else?), Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Matt Kenseth and Clint Bowyer are the leaders when the green comes back out. Johnson's jump isn't quite as good this time, but he's still able to clear for the lead in Turns 1 and 2. Harvick is hot on his bumper.

I was really kind of hoping Gordon would take it.

Lol, I don't either but it may not be such a bad fantasy...

NASCAR has suspended Kurt Busch until June 13 and has extended his probation until Dec. 31 for his actions following the Nationwide Series race June 2 at Dover International Speedway.
Busch violated Section 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing; violation of probation; verbal abuse to a media member) of the 2012 NASCAR Rule Book. Busch had been placed on probation May 15 for his actions during the May 12 Sprint Cup Series event at Darlington Raceway. That probation was scheduled to end July 25.

Busch just can't keep his big mouth shut... I knew he was in trouble when I heard it on Speed after the race...

after all, the first full race shown on tv, ended in a fist fight, that made nascar famous.

Joey Logano won at Pococo, and he really needed that win... He's up for a new contract this year with JGR...

Kurt Busch got to keep his job, at least for now... Let's see how long he can stay in the 51...

Ugh! Harvick has another good car but again thanks to our awesome CC Shane Wilson not being right about mileage, runs out for 5th time! P16.. Could've been top 5-7

Well at least my boy in the #24 finished 5th. Hoping for some redemption for the 24 car this weekend at Daytona. He needs a miracle to make the chase this year.

He sure could use a couple of wins to make the Chase this year-This is his worst year in his career...

I can't imagine how mad Stewart was about his car. I give him a lot of credit for finishing. Great crew.

Hoping Harvick will find victory lane Saturday at Daytona.. But points wise looking good for the chase...

Overall Kenseth, Biffle, Jr, Hamlin, Johnson, Harvick, Truex, Stewart and Keselowski are looking like chase locks.. Probably Bowyer as well.. After that it's up for grabs.. I just hope Kyle Busch doesn't make it

Agreed on that last sentence...One of my fav Harvick quotes ever..."He's been racin' me like a clown all day. So I parked him." That was fun to see in person.

Kyle Busch has gotten a little better in the last year-I could hardly stand looking at him a few years ago...

As much as I dislike Kyle Busch that young man can wheel a race like no other. The only other driver I've seen run a stock car like him was Tony Stewart @ Miami last year. A running joke between myself and my regular stock car date is...go ahead, put the 18 Toyota in the back of the field. See how long it takes him to work his way to the front...which is usually about 20-30 laps.

That he can, but Smoke is the better driver... Kyle gets too emotional sometimes and it gets in his way when driving... Smoke's driving at Miami was the best I've EVER seen-it was flawless... Go Smoke!!!

Tony's driving in Miami was flawless. After catching the #22's u-joint and getting shuffled back. There are just times when you can see that will to win in a drivers eyes. Which is why I like it when Jeff Gordon says "we can win today." When a driver with that kind of experience says the car is good enough to win I take that to heart.

More crashes than you can count and Tony Stewart gets his 3rd win of the year. It all came down to the final lap. Way to go, Smoke!!!!!

Smoke is one of the best out there-he came from 42nd to win... I had him on my fantasy team... Kenseth and Biffle were strong all night and no one could seperate them to take the lead... Of course, it took Smoke to figure that one out...... Typical Daytona there were 24 wrecked cars-too many...

A.J. Allmendinger was temporarily suspended from Nascar for a failed drug test... I hated to hear that-it could be the end of his driving career... Hornish was flown in to take his place tonight...

Hmmm interesting finish there. I'll take 12th for the #24 Chevy. Thought he had a chance to finally win one there.

WTG Smoke!! Very happy my guy got it done, and in a dramatic fashion as well. A win by attrition it seemed like. But I'll take it!!

This is why NASCAR is often cited as the best managed sport in the world - how they spoil their drivers!

Congrats to Kasey Kahne today. After the help he gave Stewart last weekend, it couldn't happen to a better guy.

Is no one watching? This season is getting real exciting. An exciting finish to a great road race, and no comments?

You know that I'm watching... It was a good finish to that race and I was thrilled to see Ambrose win... I haven't been posting for a few weeks, but I'll start again...

I've been watching, unfortunately I was traveling Sunday and unable to catch the race at the Glen. The videos were outrageous.
