I have to admit, it took me nearly 3 minutes to discover that Matt Smith is phenomenal as the Doctor, and the entire season proved me to be correct. Christopher Eccleston was great as the Doctor. David Tennant was better. Smith is even better---AND, I think the stories across the entire season were the best yet.

I have not seen any of Season Six---so thanks for the spoilers.
I once thought that no one could follow Tom Baker, but Peter Davidson proved me wrong.
I don't really like the redesign of the Daleks though.
Too sleek. They just don't have that same gritty feel as the old design that seemed to say, "I may look like a pepper pot, but I will kill you, and everyone you care about."
The new design seems to say, "Hi! I'm a gum ball machine."

A one off special, normal length is 50 minutes so when the BBC sell it to other users they can run it for an hour with ten minutes of advertising.

Hmmm never thought the doctors would be cute...then davidson proved me wrong and I have been in love with the man since the first one in the new part of the series..Christopher Eccleston Made me fall in love with it all over again, David Tennant was Hot...Matt Smith is even better as he is almost a cross between Tom Baker's craziness and Tennants Seriousness.

Doctor WHO? Is he with The World Health Organization?

I have been a fan since The Very First Doctor and even enjoyed Peter Cushing playing him in a movie. The current series stays true to The Doctor as played out over the last half of The 20th Century.

I've been a fan for more years than I care to think about...

Matt Smith is not my favourite actor to have played the Doctor, but he isn't the worst either. That accolade (in my opinion) goes to Sylvester McCoy who should never have been given the role. Running him a close second is Peter Davison, who was also a terrible choice. It cannot just be a co-oincidence that the series was 'shelved' after those two clowns almost killed the role.

Incidentally, Karen Gillan has brought sex appeal back to the series in a big way! I loved Billie Piper but karen has that 'something sepcial' that keeps me interested!

Default Doctor Who

Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a Time Lord—a time travelling, humanoid alien with two hearts known as the Doctor. He explores the universe in his TARDIS—a sentient, telepathic time machine that flies through time and space. Its exterior appears as a blue British police box, a common sight in 1963, when the series first aired. Along with a succession of companions, the Doctor faces a variety of foes while working to save civilisations, help ordinary people, and right wrongs.
The show has received recognition from critics and the public as one of the finest British television programmes, including the 2006 British Academy Television Award for Best Drama Series and five consecutive (2005–10) wins at the National Television Awards under Russell T Davies' reign as Executive Producer.[1][2] In 2011, Matt Smith became the first Doctor to be nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. The programme is listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest-running science fiction television show in the world[3] and as the "most successful" science fiction series of all time—based on its over-all broadcast ratings, DVD and book sales, and iTunes traffic.[4] During its original run, it was recognised for its imaginative stories, creative low-budget special effects, and pioneering use of electronic music (originally produced by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop). The show is a significant part of British popular culture;[5][6] and elsewhere it has become a cult television favourite. The show has influenced generations of British television professionals, many of whom grew up watching the series.[7] The programme originally ran from 1963 to 1989. After an unsuccessful attempt to revive regular production in 1996 with a backdoor pilot in the form of a television film, the programme was relaunched in 2005, produced in-house by BBC Wales in Cardiff. Series 1 in the 21st Century, featuring Christopher Eccleston as the ninth incarnation, was produced by the BBC. Series 2 and 3 had some development money contributed by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), which was credited as a co-producer.[8] Doctor Who also spawned spin-offs in multiple media, including Torchwood (2006), The Sarah Jane Adventures (2007), K-9 (2009), the four-part video series P.R.O.B.E. (1994), and a single pilot episode of K-9 and Company (1981).
The Doctor has been principally played by eleven actors. The transition from one actor to another is written into the plot of the show as regeneration, whereby the character of the Doctor takes on a new body and, to some extent, new personality. Although each portrayal is different, and on occasions the various incarnations have even met one another, they are all meant to be aspects of the same character. The Doctor is currently portrayed by Matt Smith, who took up the role after David Tennant's final appearance in an episode broadcast on 1 January 2010.[9]
Series 5 of the relaunched programme was first broadcast in 2010, in which the Eleventh Doctor is accompanied by Amy Pond (Karen Gillan), who is joined later in the series by fiancé (later husband) Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill). This was followed by the Series 6 in 2011, with Darvill appearing as a regular companion. A seventh series, scheduled to begin broadcast in late 2012, entered production in February 2012.[10] The series will mark its 50th anniversary in 2013.

Series 7 started last night with a bang: "Asylum of the Daleks"

It takes a very foolhardy man or one who is sure of himself to start a new season of Dr Who with a story about the Daleks. The first episode in each series is extremely important as it sets the tone for the rest of the season. Dalek stories, however, are so popular that they can make up for a bad beginning. Mix the two together and if you fail you have blown two fuses. However in this case Steven Moffat has done us proud.

The story in itself is simple so it doesn't get in the way of what is going on around it. The subplot of Amy and Rory divorcing leaves us wanting more as we approach their departure in the 5th episode. The atmosphere in the episode is majestic proving that a dormant Dalek is far more menacing than one running around screaming "ex-ter-min-ate". The surprise inclusion of Jenna-Louise Coleman leaves one asking if she was signed for this episode before she became the next companion or if her presence has something to do with her future appearance. We shall have to wait until Xmas for the reply. In any case her meeting with the Doctor is such an unexpected twist that I am sure it will become one of the great moments in Who lore. Finally we have a season which will be cut into two distinct parts with no need to carry a story arc across 13 episodes.

This is looking to become the best series ever.

I agree and disagree, I had figured out the Souffle girl on Assylum plot right off but I like that they have jumped right into the "Dr. WHO?" plot line and how she has added to it. From watching I said to my daughter she'd make a good companion I look forward to how it is handled.
The changes in Amy last night also sets up questions about their leaving.

I think the divorce issues got settled and as for there leaving if im led to believe what i have read they get taken by weeping angles.
It will be an interesting plot line however getting the new companion back from a deceased Dalek body off a destroyed planet.

I've just watched the ending again and the way she looks at the camera after saying "and remember" makes me wonder if we are in for a repeat of "The Big Bang" where Amy brings back the Doctor by remembering him. It does, however seem a bit strange that there should be 4 episodes to go before she is resurrected and she has been reported as being called Clara and not Oswin, even though those in charge of Dr Who like to play little games with the fans to keep details secret. We'll just have to wait until Xmas.

As for Rory and Amy, their departure has been described as "tragic" so I wonder if they will be split up by the Angels and sent to different times.

I just have to wonder how the Tardis ended up on the Dalek Ship, We see the Doctor Rory and Amy get abducted and yet the Tardis was already there.
More Doctor trickery....was he there earlier planting his soon to be sidekick on the planet because of a story line yet to come?
Badwolf, cracks in time, or someone just looking through windows in time and space theres one thing thats a certain.
The writers of Doctor Who are the best story tellers ever and there will be ongoing hints at things to come.

We know that the TARDIS has circuitry that enables it to follow, or find and rejoin, the Doctor; I assumed that was all there was behind it, but Moffat does like misdirection so who knows.

The Weeping Angels took the doctor and the Tardis didnt follow, The Master took the Tardis and it didnt return to the Doctor, in fact i have never that i can recall seen the tardis seek out the Doctor in the modern series at least.
In fact sometimes i think the Tardis can be a right pain the the arse.

It certainly doesn't do it automatically, or all the time; but there have been occasions when the Doctor has summoned it, and at least one story I can remember where a chief part of the plot was that they had to hang around for a few days so that the Tardis could find them and get to them.

It's probably a bit like the sonic screwdriver being able to open absolutely any lock in the entire Universe, except for when the plot requires that it isn't able to.

Default Gossip

Want to hear a bit of gossip?
Rumor has it that when Matt Smith is eventually cast off as the doctor, the new doctor will be a woman. I reserve judge-ment. We'll see how that goes...

I want to be taken and Mastered by a handsom man, preferably by one who is 6'+, blue eyes, dark hair, strong, patient, funny, kind, gentle but rough. Someone whom I can relate to, talk to, share with. But above all, he must know how to please me, study me, know me and love me.

That gossip, along with he'll be a ginger, pops up every time there will be a change of actors in the coming year. So we might have a New Doctor int the '13 Season if there is one.
