And welcome to page 2!

When I get dressed, I put on my left sock and left shoe, then the right sock and right shoe.

Reading books, I read the entire book, including the copyright page. Sometimes interesting things can be found there. I will not read the end of the book before the end, but I will pick a random page in the last 1/4 of the book and read a paragraph before going back to where I am. Then when I reach that paragraph, it all makes sense and is like finding an old friend.

@ Lioness -- I work in a large grocery story in the checkout area. We're given a printout of everyone on the schedule for the day, with their starting and ending times. From that, the morning supervisor is required to fill out a form, assigning everyone to a checkout lane, showing who follows whom. By law, our disability-access lanes must be kept open at all times, and minors are to be given a meal break at a certain point in their shift. We are required by corporate OCD SOP to use a yellow highligther to mark some things, black pen to write the bulk of what we are required to write, and red pen to make certain notations. I have my own series of marks I use on these forms to keep track of what I've done and to remind me of things I'm required to do at certain times. It's crude and largely illegible to most people, but it works for me.

The pace pf my work can be extremely hectic, I'm constantly being summoned from one end of the checkout area to another, and I must frequently run to the far corners of the building to check things, find things, or return perishable items customers bring to the front but then decide not to buy. I often walk over five miles in an eight-hour shift (several of us wore pedometers for a while), while supervising a crew of thirty-some employees, many of whom are young kids, and dealing with well over a thousand customers, some of whom are far more immature than the worst of the kids!

If I don't have my lists, I'm in major trouble.
So you're a professional people juggler!!! It sounds like you stay very organized!! Good job!!!

P.S. MMWWWAAAAAH!
I recycle and since I don't have any water down at my house, I don't waste it.

My biggest problem is obsessive thoughts. If I get in say a confrontation with someone I will go over what was said and what I should have said and what future consequences could be and those conversations literally 100's of times over the following days...But as far actual physical OCD I guess 2 quick examples are: The bosses daughter always wanted me to turn the heat off for her in our old building and since it also controled the heat for every floor it was important I not forget to reset it at night. I would check and set the heat controls 10 or 15 times in a row. It was pretty easy actually. Switch up, timer aimed at 8:00AM. I'd push the switch up. Put the timer at 8 and start to walk away but have to go back and check after going 5 feet. Reset and start over. I'd say each step out loud as I did it. Then stand back with my hands behind my back and say out loud.."OK I see the switch is up. I see the timer is set at 8!" Then try to leave. Over and over and over. Another example: I sell things online and sometimes have to mail off money orders. I will check and recheck the money order and letter enclosed 10-20 times before sealing it up. Check it. It's all perfect. Put it in the envelope. Take it out. recheck it. Say each step out loud as I do it. "I see the amount. I see the name. I am putting the check in the letter. I SEE the check IN the letter." Hold it up to the light. Yep. Still there! Put it in the envelope. Start feeling tense and shaking. Take it out. Start over. FINALLY seal the envelope. Feel it to see if I can still feel the bump of the check. Hold it up to the light. I see it in there! Start to head to the mail box. Hold it up and look again. Feel it. Rip it open! Yep still OK. Let's try again!

I could give example after example like that. If I have to get dressed up and go out to dinner I start going over the list days in advance. Over and over and over what I need to do the night I am going out. If one thing is even slightly off what I plan I freeze up and am just a tense bundle of nerves the entire night. I either cancel or don't show up for half the events I say I am attending because I am just so anxious and stressed my hands are shaking.

I simply can not face new people. I have a bad heart and am suppose to take 4 perscriptions a day. My doctor retired and moved away 4 years ago. I have tried many times but just can't bring myself to find and go see a new doctor so have not taken my medications in 4 years. It's probably taking years off my life but just calling someone to make that first appointment I sit there with my hands clenched in balls tembling. Almost crying in fear.

My only escape from the madness is to numb my brain by going to the casino and playing video poker. It has destroyed my life and taken all my money but at least while I am doing that I don't have to think about anything or face anything. Nothing exists in the casino...I will lose a couple of thousand dollars there and go on about my business but I can not bring myself to buy myself a new pair of shoes.

I know I need help but as the above heart doctor example shows I simply can not bring myself to go see someone. I just sit in my room watching movies over and over like Howard Hughes LOL
