Does anyone here use an E-reader?
I was wondering if anyone has a Kindle, and if it can download off the computer. Yes, my computer is wireless, and the Kindle is too. But I'd want to download all the books I've got on my computer onto the Kindle.
If it can't, does anyone know an E-reader that does? Nevermind, figured it out, yay for scrolling down the page and reading what's there. Let the thread die.

The wife has a Kindle and loves it but I don't believe it has the capability to do that.

You have to e-mail it to your kindle as a document. I do this all the time. Look at the top of your kindle and pic the Docs then there should be an e-mail address at the top that ends in kindle.com e-mail your books to that and in anywhere from a couple minutes to an hour they will show up in your documents to be able to read like any other book.

Kindle is not compatible with books not from Amazon, so you may have to reformat the books you wish to down load.

I have never tried to download from other sites, but the ones I did visit said they are not kindle friendly.

I've downloaded from project gutenberg before without any issues. I've also transferred word documents onto my Kindle and they've worked fine too.

my wife has a kindle and i transfer .pdf.s to her all the time
if you need to find a host site to post the books to and then enter the URL on the kindle and go to town |

Dowload a programme called Calibre, just google to find it.
Calibre will convert most formats including pdf, text and rtf to an ereader format. If you plug the reader into the computer, it will find it and you can ask it to transfer any or all books to the reader. It will also automatically convert to the format that the ereader uses. You may guess I'm a fan and I use it in conjunction with Project Guttenburg where there are thousands of out of copyright free books |
