Default Films

I love films of all types, and love to discuss them. My favorite movie is The Deer Hunter, with Robert De Niro and Christopher Walkens, because it could touch human sorrow in a way that is unparalleled. What movies do you like and why?

Heart Break Ridge, Tom Highway (played by Clint Eastwood) reminds me of my dad. Plus as a Marine I love a good Marine movie.
I also like Full Metal Jacket because it makes me want to go through boot all over again.
Any Rambo movie would work to.

too many to name.

but, if i had to choose one, it would be

THE SHOOTER with MARK WHALBERG ( or DANNY WHALBERG ).

eventhough it's only a movie, it shows what great length, our

N.W.O. government, will go to in order for the truth to be " UNKNOWN ".

Well I could go hours since I've been a serious film fanatic for 40 years but here's a start

Body Heat

American Beauty

The Godfather 1 & 2 (3 sucked)

When Harry Met Sally

The Shawshank Redemption

Don't Look Now

Catch 22

The Graduate

The Last Detail

Rocky

The Grifters

16 Candles

Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Pineapple Express

127 Hours

The Wizard of Oz (on the big screen)

Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back (the rest sucked)

Raiders of the Lost Ark

The Commitments

Women In Love

I could go on .......................

Depends on what kind of mood I'm in, but my absolute favorite would have to be Shawshank Redemption. From a screenwriting perspective, it's tight, great structure. I love the message about hope.

Other films, Moulin Rouge (beautiful example of montage--and if you pay attention, death is mentioned in some way every few minutes. Just brilliant writing), Jaws, Memento, Donnie Darko, Alfred Hitchcock's Rope.

The Deer Hunter is a great movie. People really don't seem to understand how much industrial cities and boroughs and towns in the Rust Belt gave to the various wars our country has been in. A high school in Philadelphia lost more men to Vietnam than any other one in the country. Forget exactly which one.

I'm a huge fan of Audrey Tatou. Doesn't hurt that she's quite fuckable either. What I like about the movies she tends to be in is that they tend to show the day to day life of the main characters. Amelie especially did this. You should check out A Very Long Engagement if you never have.

I'm such a huge movie fanatic that there's no way I could ever make any kind of a list of my favorites. I have no idea where to start.

If you like Amelie then you should check out "Lola Rennt" a great movie from Germany, I suggest you use the sub titles and not the dubbing, it just makes the movie right, the plot is quirky and funny, which shows people that Germans have a good sense of humour. Go get a copy.

Yeah I hate dubbed movies. I'll check it out.

Edit: Just saw the English translation of the movie title. I have seen it. Good movie.
