Default SG-1 movie would have revealed the Stargate (Stargate: Revolution)

The third Stargate SG-1 movie would have finally revealed the top-secret Stargate program to the world, Stargate executive producer Joseph Mallozzi revealed on his blog this week.
“This subject (the revelation and its many implications) would have formed the plot for the planned SG-1 movie, Stargate: Revolution,” Mallozzi said.
Written with the working title Stargate: Revolution, the movie was to heavily feature Richard Dean Anderson’s character Jack O’Neill.
The script was written by Brad Wright and Carl Binder, and of the possible Stargate projects bandied about over the past three years it came the closest to seeing the light of day. Wright was very confident in an April 2009 interview with GateWorld that they would be filming in the fall, and also said as much during his stage appearance at the official Stargate convention in Vancouver that month.
“I had a story idea that really worked with O’Neill,” Wright said. “And it’s not just his character, by any means. It’s a Stargate story that brings O’Neill back in a big way.”
Anderson confirmed on his Web site sooner thereafter that MGM had indicated its plans to go ahead with the movie. But when the DVD market continued to soften and the studio fell further into debt, plans were again put on hold.
Wright had previously told GateWorld that revealing the Stargate to the general public would be a major event in the fictional world and for the franchise — certainly a “revolution” — and was big enough that he wanted to reserve it for a movie. It was an idea that the writers enjoyed toying with in the television series, including the alternate-timeline episode “2010.” In that episode, Earth’s Stargate was kept in a public “space terminal” and available to the public for travel to other, allied worlds.
In an alternate future, the Stargate is a public transit service. From ''2010''

Mallozzi said that, even after those shows’ sets were taken down and key pieces auctioned off, he still held out hope that Revolution and the Atlantis movie (titled Stargate: Extinction) might still be made. (Wright announced last month that both were effectively shelved for good.)
“I still held out hope for both movies because, in the case of Stargate: Revolution, the lionshare of the action would have been off-world and ship-based while, in the case of Stargate: Extinction, although there was some action on Atlantis itself (eminently achievable through the magic of VFX), much of the story takes place on Earth and off-world,” he explained.
Mallozzi will give his blog readers new insights into the story of Extinction (which he co-wrote with Paul Mullie) next week.
MGM owns the completed scripts for both movies. At this point, there is no indication from the studio as to whether fans might eventually see these stories in the form of a novel, comic book, or in another medium.

Default Mallozzi teases Extinction‘s opening scenes (Stargate: Extinction)

Fans of Stargate Atlantis may never see Stargate: Extinction on the small screen, but at least we have a screenwriter who is prepared to spill (some of the) beans about the story that wasn’t to be. Atlantis executive producer Joseph Mallozzi recently posted about the film’s scripted opening in a post at his blog.
Mallozzi wrote the script for the film with writing partner Paul Mullie, and together they would have executive produced the movie. It was originally announced to air on Syfy Channel after the television series was cancelled after five years on the air.
Though the movie isn’t destined to be produced, beware of what some might still consider spoilers below. After all, Mallozzi has suggested that MGM may be considering releasing the full story in another format, such as a novel or comic book.
When last we left our heroes, they had brought the ancient city-ship of Atlantis to Earth to defend their home from a Wraith attack. With the Wraith still threatening the Pegasus Galaxy — not to mention Ronan, Teyla, and Todd still on board — would the city be staying?
“The movie would have picked up not long after the events of the Season Five finale, ‘Enemy At the Gate,’” Mallozzi said. “In the opening scene, two astronauts (who turn out to be a couple of familiar faces – Amelia Banks and Major Lorne) take a walk on the surface of the moon, their lunar stroll ending with a reveal of the city of Atlantis. A shuttle carrying Sam Carter and a group of dignitaries sweeps overhead and lands.
Drs. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett) and Radek Zelenka (David Nykl)

“Within the city’s atmospherically shielded confines, Carter and her guests meet up with the science team headed by – who else? – Rodney McKay. Frustrated by the interruption to his ongoing research, McKay demonstrates a certain impatience with the whole dog-and-pony show, running through standards explanations, overviews, questions, and answers until – an alarm suddenly sounds. The bewildered dignitaries are ushered out, leaving McKay, Carter, and Zelenka to investigate.
“An examination of the city’s systems reveal the worst. A self-destruct has been initiated – a safeguard, Rodney surmises, put in place by the Ancients in the event Atlantis was ever removed from the Pegasus Galaxy. And, once triggered, it cannot be disabled. Nothing short of a return to the Pegasus Galaxy will save the city from certain destruction. Of course, getting it there is easier said than done …
“Anyway, that was the basic premise: A seeming new beginning. A threat to the city. And a desperate bid to outrace a deadly countdown.”
The writer-producer said that, when the script was first written, they hoped that it would serve as a two-part premiere to set the stage for Season Six.

Default SGU continuation, other movies dead — for now

Don’t expect to see Stargate Universe — or any other part of the franchise — come blazing back on television or DVD. At least not in the near future.
Stargate writer, executive producer and mastermind Brad Wright took the stage earlier today at Creation Entertainment’s Official Stargate Convention in Vancouver, British Columbia and proceeded to update and clear the air on the fate of the latest series, Stargate Universe.
“We just recently found out that the SGU movie is not going to happen,” Wright said during his stage panel today. “It took too long. We just couldn’t get it together in time, and the window has closed. It’s actually sad for me, because after 17 years, I’m cleaning out my desk tomorrow morning.”
The capacity crowd at the Metrotown Hilton in Burnaby listened in silence, with some attendees visibly in tears, as Wright waxed reminiscently on the almost two decades worth of the franchise he’s had a hand in creating.
“It was a great ride and I felt really good about [SGU] and about Stargate in general,” Wright continued. “When something’s been a part of your life for 15 years, it kind of takes you over.”
“There are moments I’m so proud of and remember with fondness. I really enjoyed the last day of shooting ‘Unending’ [SG-1's series finale]. And I enjoyed every day on the set of Stargate Continuum. I’m very paternal and I love watching people become great at their jobs. I’m so proud of the pier scene [in Atlantis' Season Five episode 'The Shrine']. Joe [Flanigan] was so powerful in those scenes.”
Wright also confirmed that the proposed Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis movies have been permanently shelved, along with another movie idea he had been trying to get a greenlight on, which would have combined and involved cast members of all three series. Scripts for the first two of those projects, tentatively titled Stargate: Revolution and Stargate: Extinction (respectively), were completed well over a year ago.
What does this news mean for the future of the Stargate brand and the franchise? In the short-term, there are no plans to begin production on anything Stargate-related. But it’s a situation Wright doesn’t see as final — even if he’s not a part of it.
“It’s a franchise. Stargate is not over,” he said. “Somebody smart from MGM is going to figure it out, and something will happen.” Wright said, adding that he’s embracing the chance and prospect of writing material that isn’t Stargate related, and will be actively working on other pilots.

I only just saw the movie. It was ok. Though having done tons of research on Egyptian theology, they really bastardized for me. Poor, poor Anubis.

Unhappy Syfy cancels Stargate Universe after two seasons

Destiny‘s mission will come to an abrupt end this season, with Syfy Channel announcing today that it has canceled Stargate Universe after two seasons.
The news was first announced by Syfy’s Craig Engler via Twitter (first reported by Deadline.com). “Syfy will end its original action-adventure series Stargate Universe when the show returns with the final 10 episodes of its second season in the Spring of 2011,” Engler said. “The Stargate franchise — consisting of Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe — has aired on Syfy since 2002.
“Syfy has a slate of new scripted projects lined up for 2011 including the series premiere of Being Human on January 17, the recently green lit one-hour drama series Alphas, and the much anticipated Battlestar prequel pilot movie, Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome. Warehouse 13, Eureka, and Haven will also return with new seasons next year.”
Stargate Universe premiered in the fall of 2009 with a larger cast and a very different style from the two previous incarnations of the long-running franchise. Series creators Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper expressed a desire to do something different after producing over 300 hours of Stargate, and crafted a third installment for the franchise that was a gritty, more realistic character drama.
Lt. Matthew Scott (Brian J. Smith) records a message to try and save the crew's lives. From ''Time''

The series premiered in front of more than 2.3 million viewers in the U.S., but fell to less than 1.5 by the end of the first season. Syfy attempted to revitalize the viewer base with a move to Tuesdays — a successful night for its top-rated summer shows Eureka and Warehouse 13. The move ultimately proved unsuccessful, with SGU averaging less than 1.1 million viewers (Live + Same Day) so far this season.
SGU‘s Tuesday night lead-out companion, Caprica, was canceled in October after faring even worse in the 10 p.m. time slot.
The production team members have been focused on finishing Season Two and securing a third season, and so far haven’t publicly suggested any plans for a fourth Stargate television series. (Cooper departed Universe earlier this year.)
The 2011-2012 season will mark the first time in 14 years without new episodes of Stargate airing.
The final ten episodes of SGU will air in the spring, picking up where the mid-season finale left off, with “Deliverance.” The second season finale has already been filmed, and is expected to end on a cliffhanger.

Default Mallozzi: Stargate Universe is a 5-year story

The producers of Stargate Universe hope that the show will live on for five full seasons, according to executive producer Joseph Mallozzi. He told fans at his blog that the writers have five years’ worth of story, building up to the final pay-off and conclusion of SGU.
“There are a number of arcs and elements that will figure into the ultimate finale we have planned,” Mallozzi said. “Ideally, we’d get five years to tell the entire story in satisfactory fashion but, if it came down to it, we could pay it off over the course of a single season.”
Stargate Universe is the first show in the franchise to be conceived as a single, arc-based story with a beginning, middle, and end, rather than an episodic series that could go on as long as the ratings would support.
At this point, Mallozzi also said, the studio is not thinking about a back-up plan for finishing the story in another medium, should the show be canceled without sufficient warning to pay off the story. Right now “the plan is deliver the ending at the conclusion of Season Five,” he said.
The show’s ratings in its new Tuesday night time slot, however, may threaten that 5-year story. Last month Syfy Channel canceled Stargate‘s lead-out show Caprica for low ratings. Meanwhile WWE Smackdown and Sanctuary are thriving on Friday nights, blocking the likelihood of returning SGU to that night on the schedule.

The network is expected to announce its decision about SGU Season Three in December or January, following next week’s conclusion of the first half of Season Two. The second half should pick up in the spring, after production on Season Three would need to have already begun.
The show does benefit from a larger number of DVR-delayed and online viewers … which don’t mean much to the advertisers who pay to keep Syfy’s programming on the air.
“I think our audience is there but simply growing more diffuse,” Mallozzi said of the ratings. “It would terrific if the television industry found a way to catch up with the modern media’s technological advancements, find a way to make sure everyone is counted in those ratings — but barring a major miracle, I don’t see that happening anytime soon."

Default Review: SGU Season Two on DVD

Well, it’s arrived … sort of! The final season of Stargate Universe has now entered our homes on DVD. I feel the need to borrow the old lady’s words from the Wendy’s commercial. “Where’s the Blu-ray?”
No one knows. Fact is my iTunes copies are crisper in quality to what I’ve poked in my DVD player to write this review. But it’s important to point out that the iTunes copies do not have commentaries or special features, not to mention the nifty menus.
Like the other SGU “disc” releases, the main menu settles on a scene from the Destiny observation deck. But for Season Two they went ahead and added visuals of the ship coming out of F.T.L. near some stellar bodies (one of which you may recognize).
Every single episode of SGU Season Two has been given a commentary. Normally these pieces are filled with the writers, producers and actors who were key in bringing the episode to life. Sometimes they bring in one of the secondary characters for the fun, which is nice. Though Jennifer Spence may not have been a key player in a particular episode it is nice to have her voice brought to the scene. She and Brian J. Smith share a couple of commentaries together and the two make quite a set.
SGU Stunt man Brent Connolly gets the wind knocked out of him. (Click to enlarge)

Special documentaries is one area where Stargate fans have anticipated good content for years, and Ivon Bartok and his team did not disappoint in this set. Season Two includes 20 featurettes ranging from two minutes to approximately 25 minutes. These clips cover virtually every aspect of Season Two, from visual effects to stunts.
I find the stunt featurettes particularly interesting, because you get to see just what a person will put up with to make a dramatic sequence for the screen. In “Lt. Scott Gets Hit By A Car”, we get to see an unedited cut of one of James Bamford’s stunt men actually getting hit by a vehicle. BamBam explains the secret pivot to how the stunt man prevents himself from getting seriously injured, but at the same time you can’t help but rewind the scene and watch him get hit again and again.
“Louis Ferreira vs. Colonel Young” had me laughing my guts out. The character of Young completely disarms you for the partying fiesta that is the actor behind the role. He tapes a mustache to his face and he’s someone completely different. It’s quite a treat that several of these moments were captured on film. Meanwhile they are inter-cut with the stoic and serious Colonel Young. It’s hard to believe these two are the same man.
“Deconstructing Destiny” is an entire disc of special features which delve deeper into the ship’s design. This is a truly fascinating piece because the folks in charge explain their reasons for why they designed the ship like they did. Brad Wright talks about turning built-in disadvantages into opportunities to tell great science fiction, like Destiny‘s Achilles heel in only recharging within stars. This crux has spawned some of the more interesting episodes in my opinion.
SGU films in the Bisti Badlands. (Click to enlarge)

As with most of the DVD sets, Ivon and his team throw in a “spoof” documentary once again. This time taking the stage is Peter Kelamis and Patrick Gilmore, SGU‘s Adam Brody and Dale Volker, respectively. In “Pitches: A Journey of Friendship and Discovery”, these two men team up to pitch an episode of SGU. The joke carries on with clips from the cast and crew discussing the two actors as they write their opus, but after about ten minutes I began to look at my watch and wonder when it was going to end. Fifteen minutes after that, it did. A good farce which almost killed itself by running long.
As good as these special features are, the variety still falls a little short for my taste. The team is great about composing production and post-production featurettes, but what I’m really interested in is the pre-production stuff. I want to sit down in the writers room alongside the likes of Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper and watch them plot out the nucleus of an episode into a fully realized script. I want to see and hear the conversations that they have with one another about what works and what doesn’t, and the complicated rivers they must forge to get such an intricate product to the screen. In all these years of special features we’ve never gotten anything of that sort. It almost feels as though this is off limits. What we did get this year was Volker and Brody making a script, but that one was fake.
Missing yet again are the deleted scenes from the episodes. For one reason or another deleted scenes have failed to make the cut on Stargate DVDs. Yes, we have gotten them with a few episodes on the later SG-1 and Atlantis sets, but there is a large pool of them missing. We have to assume that the product that appeared on the screen at the end of the day is the journey the creative team intended for you to take, but still it would be fascinating to see the discarded bits of character development that were sacrificed to bring the show down to time.
"Come! We bring more people!" (Click to enlarge)

The journey of Stargate has come to an end on the TV screen for the time being, and I can’t ask for a better set of goodies to do the job.
For a DVD release, this set once again proves that Ivon Bartok and his special features team have still got it. No, it’s not Blu-ray, but I hold out hope that Fox will offer a complete series Blu-ray release in the near future should the numbers hold enough to make it worthwhile.
My advice? If you want the Blu-ray, go out and buy this DVD release. The price is right for the 20 episodes and hours of extras you get for it, and you’ll be showing that the DVD market still has a few Stargate fans left in it. You can always resell your DVD copy on Amazon. Atlantis has a complete Blu-ray set coming out, and if that sells well hopefully there will be an SG-1 set behind it. Let’s complete the franchise on Blu-ray!

Also look for SGU Season One on DVD as well in stores NOW!!!!

Default Stargate SG-1

Stargate SG-1 is base on the movie Stargate. The lead role is (Richard Dean Anderson) who playes Colonel Jack O’Neil and (Michal Shanks) as Dr. Daniel Jackson. The series starts off were the movie ended but a little over a year later though. The show went on for ten years. Which made it the longest run sci-fi show in American television history. Richard Dean Anderson was on the show for eight years. Richard Dean Anderson was in the TV series called MacGyver. He is from Minnesota as well. SG-1 was first aired on Showtime for the first five years of the series. For the next five seasons it aired on the SyFy Channel. Although the show has ended in 2007 since they have made two movies so far and a third is in the works. Now more on the history of Stargate SG-1.
Stargate SG-1 (often abbreviated as SG-1) is a Canadian-American military science fictiontelevision series and part of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's Stargate franchise. The show, created by Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner, is based on the 1994 feature film Stargate by Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich. The television series was filmed in and around the city of Vancouver, British Columbia. Showtime broadcast the first five seasons beginning in 1997 before the series moved to the Sci Fi Channel for its last five seasons. The final episode premiered on Sky1 in the United Kingdom on March 13, 2007, three months before its United States premiere. With 10 seasons and 214 episodes Stargate SG-1 surpassed The X-Files in 2007 as the longest-running North American science fiction series on television, although Stargate SG-1 itself is expected to be surpassed in this record by Smallville in April 2011, as that series finishes its long run.
The story of Stargate SG-1 begins two years after the events of the feature film. A network of ancient alien devices called Stargates connects a vast multitude of planets within our Milky Way galaxy for interstellar travel. Later episodes reveal that this network is capable of spanning not just planets within the Milky Way, but with sufficient power, can provide intergalactic travel as well. Stargate SG-1 chronicles the adventures of SG-1, the flagship team of over two dozen teams from Earth who explore the galaxy and defend Earth against alien threats such as the Goa'uld, Replicators and later the Ori. The composition of the SG-1 team is stable in the show's first five seasons but changes several times in the remaining seasons. The series expands upon many Ancient Earth mythologies such as Egyptian mythology, Norse mythology, and Arthurian legend. The 2008 direct-to-DVD films Stargate: the Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum continue the adventures of SG-1; the third direct-to-DVD film, titled Stargate: Revolution, was confirmed in April 2009, but has been put on hold.
The series was a ratings success for Showtime and the Sci Fi Channel, and was particularly popular in Europe and Australia. Although it received little critical response, Stargate SG-1 was honored with numerous awards and award nominations in its ten-season run. It also spawned the animated television series Stargate Infinity in 2002, the live-action spin-off TV series Stargate Atlantis in 2004, and the live-action TV series Stargate Universe in 2009. Merchandise for Stargate SG-1 includes games and toys, print media and an original audio series.
Stargate SG-1 resumes the plot of the original feature film and follows the present-day adventures of SG-1, a military team from Earth. SG-1 and two dozen other SG teams venture to distant planets using a fictional alien portal known as a Stargate, which in the series is housed in a top-secret United States Air Force military base known as Stargate Command (SGC) underneath Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In the first eight seasons, the mission of the SG teams is to explore the galaxy and search for alien technology and allies to defend Earth against the Goa'uld, a snake-like parasitic alien race that takes humans as unwilling hosts. As explained in the series' backstory, the Goa'uld transported human slaves from Earth to other habitable planets across the galaxy thousands of years ago and now poses as gods of Ancient Earth mythologies, particularly Egyptian mythology. SG-1 eventually learns that highly evolved but now impassive human-like beings, known as the Ancients, had originally built the Stargate network millions of years earlier, before they used their extraordinary powers to Ascend to a higher plane of existence. The fictional Ori, who belong to the same race as the Ancients but preach religious fundamentalism, assume the role of the main antagonists in seasons 9 and 10.
The pilot episode, set one year after the events of the original feature film, introduces the Goa'uld System Lord and main villain Apophis (Peter Williams) as he attacks Earth's mothballed SGC military base through the Stargate. The SGC is brought back into action when the Stargate is revealed to be part of an interplanetary network connecting countless planets. SG teams are created to help defend Earth against the Goa'uld, who has interstellar pyramid warships and vast armies of Jaffa (hereditary slaves and human incubators to the Goa'uld) at their disposal. Earth's flagship team SG-1, among them Apophis's defected First Prime (lead Jaffa soldier) Teal'c, initiates several alliances with other races in the galaxy, such as the Goa'uld-like but truly symbiotic Tok'ra, the advanced human Tollan, the pacifist Nox, the benevolent Roswell-alien Asgard, and remnants of the powerful Ancients. Another alien threat arises in season 3 in the form of sentient machines called Replicators. Meanwhile, rogue agents of a shadowy intelligence agency on Earth, the NID, repeatedly attempt to take control of the Stargate and other alien technology. Despite Apophis's death in season 5, the Goa'uld Empire remained a major foe in Stargate SG-1 until the end of season 8. The System Lord Ba'al (Cliff Simon) is the only influential Goa'uld in the last two seasons of Stargate SG-1. He is defeated in the direct-to-DVD film Stargate: Continuum.
After Apophis's defeat in the season 5 premiere, the half-Ascended Goa'uld System Lord Anubis (David Palffy) becomes the main villain. He possesses much knowledge of the Ancients and their technology. While Earth builds its first interstellar spaceship (the Prometheus ) in season 6 and 7, Anubis creates an army of almost invincible Kull Warriors and wipes out many of his fellow System Lords. In the season 7 finale, SG-1 discovers a powerful weapon in an Ancient outpost in Antarctica that annihilates Anubis's entire fleet and also sets the stage for the spin-off series Stargate Atlantis. While Ba'al subsumes much of Anubis's power in season 8, Anubis secretly regains control of his forces. Human-form Replicators begin to conquer the System Lords, but SG-1 finds and adjusts an Ancient weapon to destroy all Replicators throughout the galaxy. The end of season 8 reveals the benevolent Ascended Being Oma Desala (Mel Harris) to be responsible for Anubis's original ascension. When she engages Anubis in an eternal stalemated battle on the Ascended plane to prevent his acting on the mortal plane, the Replicators and most System Lords have already been annihilated, and the Jaffa win their freedom from Goa'uld rule.
The original SG-1 team disbands after the events of season 8, but slowly reunites after an Ancient communication device in the SGC inadvertently draws the attention of the Ancient-like Ori from another galaxy to the existence of sentient life in the Milky Way. While the Ori send advanced human beings named Priors to the Milky Way to spread a religion that augments the Ori's power, Ba'al and some minor Goa'uld infiltrate Earth through the Trust (a coalition of rogue NID operatives) to rebuild their power. At the end of season 9, the Ori begin an evangelistic crusade with their warships and effortlessly wipe out the combined fleet of Earth and its allies. The leader of the Ori, Adria (Morena Baccarin), is introduced in the premiere of season 10. SG-1 searches for the Sangraal, an Ancient weapon that might defeat the Ori, while Ba'al and his clones attempt to find the weapon for their own purposes. With the help of the powerful Ancient Merlin (Matthew Walker), SG-1 finds the construction plans of the Sangraal and sends a working version to the Ori galaxy but shortly thereafter, Adria ascends. The Ori arc currently ends in the direct-to-DVD film Stargate: the Ark of Truth.
On August 21, 2006, a few days after the premiere of SG-1's milestone episode "200", the Sci Fi Channel confirmed that Stargate SG-1 was not being renewed for an eleventh season. While news outlets cited declining ratings, expensive production and lack of promotion as possible reasons for the cancellation, the Sci Fi Channel's Mark Stern merely stated the decision was not ratings-based. Instead, he said the production staff was given enough time to tie up all the loose ends of the story, and SG-1 cast members were planned to be incorporated into the renewed Stargate Atlantis. Meanwhile, the SG-1 producers and rights-holder MGM expressed a desire to continue SG-1 as a movie, mini-series, or an eleventh season on another network. Brad Wright confirmed the production of two direct-to-DVD films in October 2006, and Amanda Tapping joined the Atlantis cast for their fourth season. The first film, Stargate: the Ark of Truth, was released in March 2008 and wraps up the Ori storyline. The second film, Stargate: Continuum, is an alternate time travel story and was released in July 2008. A special edition of the two-hour pilot episode "Children of the Gods" with re-edited scenes and a different score has also been produced.
In April 2009, MGM confirmed a third new SG-1 film that Brad Wright had first announced in May 2008. Joseph Mallozzi revealed the working title as Stargate: Revolution. Although Wright stated in April 2009 that he "can almost guarantee we are proceeding with the SG-1 movie this year", production is still on hold as of September 2010. Wright explained that the late-2000s recession made DVD premieres less lucrative than in the years before. In January 2010, Michael Shanks said that the proposed third SG-1 direct-to-DVD film is unlikely to happen due to the large delay since the second film. He commented, "Never say never", but appeared skeptical that such a film would ever be made, saying, "This might be the closing of the book on that particular [chapter of the] franchise." In September 2010, Wright also pointed to the financial crisis of MGM as reason for the delay. Yet he was optimistic, saying "We held on to a lot of stuff and were ready to go for a very long time, but that doesn't mean it's not going to happen. We have a plan B, and I've been talking with MGM about it, and hopefully we'll still get our chance." In early November 2010, Joseph Mallozzi stated on his blog that "recent obvious developments over the past week have increased the likelihood of the SG-1 and SGA [films] finally seeing the green light of a production schedule. The biggest hurdle has just been cleared."
In the original plans for the third new SG-1 film, Wright and former Stargate Atlantis executive producer Carl Binder will co-write the film, and Martin Wood will serve as director. According to Wright, the film will center on the Jack O'Neill character and will reunite as many of the SG-1 cast as possible, depending on the cost of the film and actor availability. Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson) has confirmed his and Richard Dean Anderson's participation, although contracts have not been signed as of April 2009[update]. Amanda Tapping confirmed her appearance in the third SG-1 film and the first Atlantis movie. According to Wright, the character of Vala Mal Doran will not appear in the film. Well that is all that I’m going to tell you about Stargate SG-1. So now I will be telling you about the spin-off of Stargate SG-1. I will tell you about the two films later on in this book.

Default Stargate Atlantis

Stargate Atlantis is the spin-off of the hit television series Stargate SG-1. Stargate Atlantis went on for five seasons and ended at episode 100. The second to last episode of Atlantis was filmed in Las Vegas. The show went from 2004 to 2009. In the last season of SG-1 did a crossover with the cast of Stargate Atlantis. In the second season of Stargate Universe two cast members from Stargate Atlantis will visit the Ancients ship called Destiny. The two people that get to do the crossover are Dr. McKay and Richard Woolsey. The main lead in this show are Joe Flanigan playing (John Sheppard who is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States military) and the other one is David Hewlett playing (Dr. Rodney McKay). They are planning to make an Atlantis movie that is in the works. It would be the first movie after the show ended back in 2009. Well let’s get more history of Stargate Atlantis.
Stargate Atlantis (often abbreviated as SGA) is a Canadian-Americanscience fictiontelevision series and part of MGM's Stargate franchise. The show was created by Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper as a spin-off series of Stargate SG-1, which was created by Wright and Jonathan Glassner and was itself based on the feature film Stargate (1994). The first three seasons of Stargate Atlantis were broadcast by The Sci-Fi Channel and The Movie Network, while the final two seasons aired exclusively on Sci-Fi. The show premiered on July 16, 2004; its final episode aired on January 9, 2009. The series was filmed in and around Vancouver, Canada.
The story of Stargate Atlantis follows the events of Stargate SG-1's seventh season finale episode "Lost City", in which the cast of that series discovered an outpost created by the alien race known as the Ancients in Antarctica. In the pilot episode, Stargate Command sends an international team to investigate the outpost, where Dr. Daniel Jackson discovers the location of the legendary city created by the Ancients, Atlantis.
The series was a ratings success for the Sci Fi Channel, and was particularly popular in Europe and Australia. Although it received little critical response, Stargate Atlantis was honored with numerous awards and award nominations in its five-season run. After Stargate Atlantis was cancelled, the show's co-creators began working on the already conceptualized Stargate Universe which the network had approved to have a bigger budget, be less mythology dependent, and have more focus on character development. Stargate Universe was released on October 2, 2009. Merchandise for Stargate Atlantis includes games and toys, print media and an original audio series. A direct-to-DVD film entitled Stargate: Extinction is planned to be produced.
Stargate Atlantis follows the present-day adventures of Lt. Colonel John Sheppard and his military team from Earth that, along with two dozen other teams, explore distant planets in the Pegasus Galaxy. They use an alien device known as a Stargate that was built millions of years ago by an advanced race of humans known as the Ancients. The expedition is based in the Lost City of Atlantis on the planet "Lantea". The city was built millions of years ago by the Ancients. Five to ten million years ago, due to a plague in the Milky Way Galaxy, they were forced to flee to the Pegasus Galaxy, and there they seeded life on hundreds of worlds as they had done to Earth in the Milky Way. After encountering a powerful enemy known as the Wraith and going to war with them for one hundred years, the Ancients ultimately lost and were forced to submerge their city beneath Lantea's ocean, which, in the Stargate universe, is the source of the Greekmyth of the Lost City of Atlantis.
Stargate: Atlantis episodes feature a self-contained story that also contributes to the larger storyline of the war against the Wraith and the Atlantis residents' search for the means to destroy their enemy. Each season has also featured a two-part episode, and a few episodes that, while not technically two-parters, feature direct continuity with the story of the previous episode (for example, season 3 "Progeny" and "The Real World"). Each episode begins with a cold open, sometimes preceded by a recap of events relevant to the upcoming narrative. The opening credits feature an original theme by Joel Goldsmith. Though they were drastically cut at the start of season 2, the full credits were recovered after the mid-season two-parter. They were again cut short in the 5th season.
Season one began airing in the United States on July 16, 2004. The Atlantis expedition, led by Dr. Elizabeth Weir, arrives at Atlantis, the city of the Ancients. The expedition quickly finds itself in a dire situation that forces them to seek new friends, the Athosians, but they also acquire a powerful new enemy: the Wraith. Due to the power requirements for reaching Lantea, they are unable to contact Earth. The expedition must survive in a new galaxy, while deciphering the Ancients' technology in order to find a way to destroy the Wraith and to acquire important new knowledge. Major Sheppard puts together a team consisting of himself, Dr. Rodney McKay, Lt. Ford and the Athosian leader Teyla Emmagan, who serve as Atlantis' first contact team. In one of their first missions, they make another enemy, the Genii, a human militaristic civilization with a 1950s level of technology. After several more revelations about the Wraith are made, the expedition prepares to evacuate. Just before they do, however, a military contingent from Earth arrives to help defend the city against the impending Wraith attack long enough for Earth's latest battleship to arrive. The season ends with a cliffhanger, while the city is still under siege by the Wraith.
Season two began airing in the United States on July 15, 2005, and it picked up where Season 1 ended. The Atlantis expedition successfully avoids being culled by the Wraith by making them believe Atlantis had been destroyed, and they recover semi-regular contact with Earth, thanks to the Daedalus and the new Zero Point Module (ZPM). Sheppard is promoted to Lt. Colonel and former RunnerRonon Dex replaces Lt. Ford, who went missing in action (MIA) at the end of the battle with the Wraith. The central plot of the second season is the development of Dr. Beckett's retrovirus, which can, theoretically, turn a Wraith into a human. While an incomplete version makes a young Wraith girl lose all her humanity and almost turns Sheppard into an Iratus bug, a more developed version is tested on a living Wraith, "Michael", with mixed results. Michael's Wraith faction proposes an alliance with Atlantis, but they betray the team. The season closes again with a cliffhanger—the Wraith are heading for the rich feeding grounds of Earth.
Season three premiered in the United States on July 14, 2006, picking up where season 2 ended. Having stopped the Wraith from reaching Earth and having failed to develop a working Wraith retrovirus, the expedition faces its third year in the Pegasus galaxy with the Wraith still a threat and a new, powerful enemy bent on destroying the expedition and Atlantis: the Asurans, self-replicating nanobots, also known as Replicators. The situation becomes complicated when an experiment gone awry drains their only ZPM, leaving them without a power source for the city's shields. Soon thereafter, they find a lost Ancient vessel and subsequently lose the city of Atlantis when the crew of the Ancient ship reclaims it. The SGC sends General O'Neill and Richard Woolsey to try to negotiate an agreement between Earth and the Ancients to allow the expedition to return to Atlantis. O'Neill and Woolsey dial Earth and inform them that the Asurans are taking over the city. They kill the Ancient crew who reclaimed the city after 10,000 years. The main members of the Atlantis expedition on Earth disobey their orders and go back to the city, rescue O'Neill and Woolsey, and repel the Asuran invasion. The season finale starts off with Earth launching a first strike against the Asurans, who are building an armada to attack Earth. The Asurans counterattack by attacking Atlantis with a powerful beam weapon fired through a satellite housing a Stargate. As a last resort, the Atlantis team fires up the city's star drive and escapes into space. The finale ends when the hyper drive malfunctions, leaving the city flying through uncharted space with a day's worth of energy left in their sole ZPM and Dr. Weir critically injured.
Season four premiered in the USA on September 28, 2007, and in the UK on October 9, 2007. The writers stated that season 4 would take the series in a new direction. As the 4th season begins where season 3 ended, the future seems bleak: Weir is incapacitated and the senior members of the expedition have suffered multiple injuries. With the city damaged, running out of power and drifting in space, cut off from Earth, the Atlantis expedition raids Asuras to obtain a ZPM and is able to travel to a nearby planet. Weir is captured by the Asurans and Colonel Samantha Carter joins as a regular and acts as the expedition leader. She appears in the episode "Lifeline" after helping to find and land Atlantis on its new home planet; she is then ordered back to the SGC. In episode 3, under the IOA's orders, Carter returns to Atlantis as the new leader of the expedition after Atlantis lands. The season focuses on the main antagonists: the Asurans and the Wraith, as well as the pregnancy of Teyla Emmagan. The Asuran base code is reprogrammed by McKay, leading the nanobots to fulfill the purpose for which the Ancients created them: to wipe out the Wraith. Midway through the season, they are seemingly destroyed, and the remaining episodes concentrate mainly on Michael's efforts against both humans and the other Wraith.
In the fifth season, Richard Woolsey replaces Carter as the leader of the expedition. Teyla, who was held captive by Michael, gives birth to Torren John and escapes with her team, before they are able to cripple Michael. Eventually, he invades Atlantis with a commandeered Puddle Jumper to take Torren and destroy Atlantis but, thanks to the efforts of Sheppard, Teyla, and McKay, Michael is finally killed. The season also introduces a group of rogue Asgard, who unlike their Ida counterparts, actually experiment on humans to prolong their lives, and steal a device known as "The Attero device" to destroy the Wraith, though the side effect is that any Stargate activated after the device has been turned on will explode. The device is eventually destroyed. With the Attero device, Michael and the Hoffan drug, the Wraith have become weakened, and are no longer the power of the galaxy they once were; the falling gives the humans freedom enough to establish a coalition. McKay falls in love with Keller, who eventually reciprocates his feelings, and they become romantically involved. In the finale, Todd the Wraith alerts Atlantis to the fact that an underling wraith possesses Hive Ship powered by a ZPM. In the process of trying to retrieve the ZPM and disable the Hive, the Atlantis team is present when the Hive receives a communication sent from an alternate reality giving away Earth's location. The Hive disables the Daedalus and heads straight to Earth. Thanks to the efforts of the expedition, the ship is finally destroyed over Earth, and Atlantis lands in the Pacific Ocean near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
After the announcement on August 20, 2008, that Season 5 of Atlantis would be its last, it was announced the following day (August 21, 200 that the series would be continued with at least one 2-hour direct-to-DVD movie. More movies are expected to follow in the Atlantis series if the first movie is successful. Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi has said that the rise of the Canadian dollar and the decline of the American dollar has made life harder for Canadian television since it has become more expensive. He further stated "Both MGM and Sci Fi (now SyFy) have been great supporters of the show and, if you go by SG-1's example, fans can be assured that the end of the series will not be the end of Atlantis."
Mallozzi called the Atlantis film Project Twilight until the title of the first Atlantis film was revealed as Stargate: Extinction in late May 2009. Andy Mikita is going to direct the first Atlantis film. The tentative shoot-date of the movie was bound for late 2009 (a date now passed), though there are as yet no details on the release date. As of May 2009, confirmed actors are Amanda Tapping as Samantha Carter, David Hewlett as Rodney McKay, Joe Flanigan as John Sheppard, Paul McGillion as Carson Beckett, Rachel Luttrell as Teyla Emmagan, Jason Momoa as Ronon Dex, Robert Picardo as Richard Woolsey and Christopher Heyerdahl as Todd the Wraith.
The script for Stargate: Extinction has been written and is ready to go into production. The project however is on hold due to the recession and the decline in DVD sales. In the meantime, a crossover episode with Stargate Universe is planned. Well that is all that I’m going to tell you about Stargate Atlantis. Now to the last live action series so far.

Default Stargate Universe

SGU or Stargate Universe is the third live action series for Stargate. The show is based on the last and final chevrons on the Stargate. The show is base in deep, deep, deep space exploring the universe. Although in the first half of season two we find out what the main reason the Ancients launched the ship called Destiny. Ahead of the Destiny are seed ships that are putting Stargates on planets that can have life on it. The main two leads in this show are Robert Carlyle who plays (Dr. Nicholas Rush) and the other person is Louis Ferreira who plays (Colonel Everett Young). So now the history of Stargate Universe.
Stargate Universe (often abbreviated as SGU) is an American - Canadianmilitary science fictiontelevision series and part of MGM's Stargate franchise. It follows the adventures of a present-day, multinational exploration team unable to return to Earth after an evacuation to the Ancient spaceship Destiny, which is traveling in a distant corner of the universe. The series, created by Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper, premiered on Syfy on October 2, 2009. The series features an ensemble cast and is primarily filmed in and around Vancouver, BC, Canada. A second season of 20 episodes was announced by Syfy in December 2009, and began airing in the United States on September 28, 2010. The second half of season 2 is expected to return in spring 2011. Syfy announced on December 16, 2010 that it would not be picking Stargate Universe up for a third season and that the Spring 2011 season would be the last to air on its channel. There has been no word from MGM Television on this decision.
Stargate Universe is set on the Ancient ship Destiny, which was launched from Earth, several million years ago. Several ships were sent ahead of it to seed the universe with Stargates. The Ancients had planned on using its Stargate to board Destiny when it was far out enough into the universe, but they eventually abandoned the project after looking into ascension and other things. In order to reach this ship, an address would have to be dialed consisting of nine chevrons, a possibility that had been unknown in the previous Stargate series, due to energy constraints.
The series begins when a team of soldiers and scientists from present-day Earth escape through the Stargate to find the Destiny after their base is attacked. Many of its primary systems are damaged or failing, and they are unable to return to Earth or even maneuver the ship. However, the Destiny periodically stops to dial the Stargate to planets with necessary supplies to repair the ship, and sustain human life. The writers have discussed the possibility that each season represents a voyage of the Destiny through a different galaxy.
Stargate Universe is intended to appeal to both veteran fans and newcomers. It is planned to be firmly entrenched in established Stargate mythology without relying on it too often. Although it is planned to still have the familiar Stargate themes of adventure and exploration, the show will focus mostly on the people aboard the ship. SGU is intended to be more serialized than its predecessors, but the writers attempt to resolve each character story within the episode. There is a conscious effort to avoid making SGU too serialized, and the serialization should mainly stem from character development. The industry describes the show with the buzzwords "dark and edgy". According to Robert C. Cooper, the essence of the story is "that sort of fear and terror of a tragedy combined with the sense that there is hope for us in the basic ways in which human beings survive". The planned increased levels of drama are intended to be balanced with humor to avoid pretentiousness. The differences between good and evil are planned to be less apparent, as the ship is populated with flawed and unprepared characters who were not supposed to go there. According to Brad Wright, the show will "hopefully explore[e] the truly alien, and [avoid] the rubber faced English-speaking one[s]". There will be aliens, but not a single dominant villain race like SG-1's Goa'uld and Atlantis' Wraith.
Stargate Universe is set aboard the Ancient ship Destiny, a massive vessel which was part of an Ancient experiment to seed the galaxies with Stargates millions of years ago. Their plan to return to the ship after it finished its journey never came about due to their ascension. The ship was sent on auto-pilot, preceded by other automated ships which seeded the habitable worlds along its route with Stargates. It uses an unidentified form of superluminal propulsion, said to be faster than light but "not hyper drive." Destiny is reached through its on-board Stargate from any other location, using a unique nine-chevron address that acts as a code, dialed on a Stargate with sufficient power supply (only power source sufficient enough so far has been a planet with a Naquadria core, that is far greater than a ZPM is able to provide), the plausibility of which was previously unknown.
The series begins when a team of 80+ soldiers and scientists from Earth are forced to flee through the Stargate when their base is attacked. They find themselves on Destiny; unable to return to Earth, they must fend for themselves aboard the ship as it takes them to the far reaches of the universe. According to Brad Wright, the show will focus mostly on the people aboard the ship.
The Destiny's exact specifications have yet to be revealed, however some details can be determined empirically. The ship had at least three shuttle landing pads and two shuttles, one of which had a hull breach until "Faith". In this episode, the shuttle's was repaired but its engines later suffered damage, and the shuttle was left behind on a planet. The Destiny has an extensive array of energy weapons, providing excellent field-of-fire coverage. It also has energy shielding to seal hull breaches and protect itself from outside forces. The Destiny is fueled by stars: the ship skims over a star and uses an array of fold-out collectors on the underside of the hull to recharge its power reserves.
Initial details of Destiny's mission are revealed in "The Greater Good", when Dr. Rush is forced to reveal that he has cracked the master code and thus has control over the ship. It is stated that the Ancients had discovered a possibly artificial pattern to the cosmic microwave background radiation said to be a remnant of the Big Bang. This discovery suggested the possibility of life prior to or immediately following the Big Bang, and Destiny was launched to study this possibility.
Seed Ships are A vessel type smaller than Destiny but of similar design. The Seed ships were sent out before Destiny and are thus also millions of years old. Their purpose was to scout ahead and identify habitable worlds, once a suitable world was detected they would build a Stargate there. This class of ship is capable of docking with the Destiny and initiating both information and power transfers. The Seed ships seem to posses significant energy reserves stored in capacitors.
At the time begin at the start of spring in 2011 at the moment will be the final ten episodes of Stargate Universe. Since the ratings have been bad ever since it was moved to Tuesday night instead of still keeping it on Friday night. Although the show might still do a third season but it might still be put on a new channel. I think they could put it on USA Network, BBC America, or any other cable network. The other channel that they could put it on is where SG-1 first started which would be Showtime Channel. Well that is all to tell you about SGU at the moment.

Default Stargate Infinity

Stargate Infinity is the only stargate show that was a cartoon. It was only on for one season. It also was aired on Saturday Morning cartoons. The show is based in the near future. I think like 30 years in the future from now back in 2002.
Stargate Infinity (often abbreviated as SGI or just Infinity) is an Americananimatedscience fictiontelevision series and part of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's (MGM) Stargate franchise, but is not considered official Stargate canon. The show was created by Eric Lewald and Michael Maliani, as a spin-off series of Stargate SG-1 created by Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner after the release of Stargate (1994). The cartoon had a low viewership rating and poor reception; it was canceled after one season. Co-produced by MGM and DIC Entertainment (Now Cookie Jar Group) and directed by Will Meugniot.
The story arc of Stargate Infinity follows Gus Bonner being framed for opening the Stargate for Alien shapeshifters in a future version of Stargate Command (SGC). Bonner escapes with other fresh recruits to the Stargate program through the gate. The team cannot return to Earth before they have cleared their names. The show was cancelled before any of its major plots could be resolved. The story unfolds when the members of the team encounters different alien races from other planets.
The executive producers for the show were Andy Heyward and co-creator Michael Maliani. Will Meugniot was supervising director and as of the series cancellation only three directors directed the 26 episode series. Mike Piccirillo wrote the music which was performed by: Mike Piccirillo and Jean-Michel Guirao. The show often featured an educational comment or summary about the moral lessons learned during the course of an episode.
The writers and producers of Stargate SG-1 and the main canon of the Stargate franchise were not involved with Infinity, and neither MGM, the production teams nor the fans of Stargate consider Infinity to be an official part of the Stargate universe. According to Stargate SG-1 co-creator Brad Wright, the animated series should not be considered official Stargate canon. Commenting on it, he stated, "I don't have a problem with it. I'm just not involved." Well that is all to tell you about all the four series that came after the 1994 blockbuster film Stargate.

Default Stargate‘s Christopher Judge cast in The Dark Knight Rises

Stargate SG-1 actor Christopher Judge is on his way to the big screen in a big way. The actor announced Friday that he has been cast in one of the highest-profile genre films of 2012: The Dark Knight Rises, the third (and supposedly final) Batman movie from director Christopher Nolan.
“I can finally confirm: I have been cast in The Dark Knight Rises,” Judge posted on Twitter.
Judge played Teal’c for 10 years on SG-1, and in two DVD movies. He’s kept a low profile in the acting world since the last Stargate movie, instead focusing his efforts on developing his own fantasy series, Rage of Angels (story).
Following the highly successful Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, the third film stars Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman. There’s no word yet on just what role Judge will play in the film, or how big the part will be. The movie will include multiple villains from Batman lore, including Bane (Hardy) and Catwoman (Hathaway).
The Dark Knight Rises is currently filming, and hits theaters next summer.

Default Stargate Prewatch: Stargate the Movie!

“It’s your Stargate …”
We’re just one week away from the start of the Stargate Rewatch, a massive and community-wide project to watch all 17 seasons of Stargate from the beginning — one season every month through 2012. (Read more here.)
This week we’re revving up the engines with a little Stargate Prewatch! On deck for your viewing pleasure any time during this final week of July is the original 1994 feature film Stargate, starring Kurt Russell as Jack O’Neil and James Spader as Daniel Jackson.
Stargate was written and produced by Dean Devlin and his Centropolis Films, and directed by Roland Emmerich for a modest budget of $55 million. It was a moderate hit at the box office when it was released in October, and Devlin and Emmerich would go on to greater fame by releasing such movies as Independence Day, Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow, 10,000 BC, and 2012. The studio made a deal with MGM to help distribute the movie, in exchange giving MGM rights to the Stargate franchise and (to their chagrin) paving the way for a TV series three years later.
Things to watch for in the movie:
  • <LI itxtHarvested="0" itxtNodeId="30">Which characters later appeared on the television series, played by the same actor? (We can think of two.) <LI itxtHarvested="0" itxtNodeId="29">Which characters appeared played by a different actor? (At least five.)

Remember: the point of the Rewatch is not just to watch everything again, but to watch it together as a fan community! So post your thoughts on your blog, on Twitter (hastag: #SGRewatch), Facebook, or over at GateWorld Forum. Write a new piece of fanfic to go along with what you’re watching, create a new piece of art, chat it up on your podcast — whatever your creative outlet is! Be sure to post a link so we can see it and share it with other Stargate fans.
Get those DVDs ready … We’ll see you back here next Monday to officially kick off the Rewatch with SG-1 Season One!

STARGATE REWATCH STARTS AUGUST 1ST which is in 4 days

Default Atlantis producer reveals more Stargate: Extinction movie details

Just how would that Stargate Atlantis movie have played out? Writer and executive producer Joseph Mallozzi described the script’s opening scenes to readers on his blog a few months ago (story). Now he’s offered up a few more details on the storyline that would have taken the city of the Ancients back to the Pegasus Galaxy.
Mallozzi previously revealed that Stargate: Extinction would have opened with Atlantis relocated from its landing site in the San Francisco Bay (“Enemy At the Gate”) to the far side of the Moon, away from prying eyes. But the Ancients programmed an automated self-destruct should the city ever be taken out of Pegasus — which activates, prompting the team to fire up the stardrive and make a mad dash home.
“It’s time to get the band back together,” Mallozzi continued, “and we check in with our various team members as they are called up and beamed away for the return journey: Teyla and her family, Keller, Beckett, Lorne, Zelenka and, of course, Sheppard and Ronon who are plucked away while receiving treatment at a local hospital following a barroom brawl (we went back and incorporated the scar actor Jason Momoa received following an incident near his L.A. home). Once everyone has assembled, McKay gives them the 411.
“Given the time constraints they face, they have to get back to Pegasus as quickly as possible — meaning they’ll have to use the wormhole drive again. Zelenka calculates that two jumps should do it.
Todd (Christopher Heyerdahl)

“And they’re off. Sort of. The first jump ends up burning out the drive, rendering it useless and leaving them stranded with the countdown click ticking down. However, a scan of the surrounding plants turns up a habitable world within range. They go there seeking help and, instead, end up involved in a wild time-travel themed adventure in which Todd, the Wraith, turns out to be, simultaneously, their hugest threat and biggest ally.”
Stargate: Extinction was announced by MGM and Syfy Channel in 2008, and scripted by Mallozzi and Paul Mullie. Financial issues forced the studio to put the film on the back burner. After MGM passed through bankruptcy and took on new CEOs at the end of 2010, hopes for Extinction were ended.
There are still hopes that the studio might allow a publisher to turn the script into a novel or comic book, but so far MGM hasn’t made any plans known — not even to Mallozzi.

Default Today on Blu-ray: Complete Stargate Atlantis

The lost city has arrived in full, high definition glory!
Today marks the release date for Stargate Atlantis: The Complete Series on Blu-ray in North America. The 20-disc set presents all five seasons and 20 episodes of the show, which ran on Syfy Channel from 2004 to 2009.
Also included are audio commentaries from the cast and crew on nearly every episode, plus all the same bonus featurettes that were previously released on the DVD edition.
The whole package is in stores now with a suggested retail price of $199.99. If you pick it up today on Amazon.com you’ll save over 40 percent ($114.99, subject to change) while supporting GateWorld’s continued existence. At Amazon.ca the current discount is 35 percent ($129.99, subject to change).
It marks the first full-series Blu-ray release for the Stargate franchise. Previous Blu-ray options have been limited to the original Stargate film</A itxtHarvested="0" itxtNodeId="21">, the two SG-1 movies, Season One of Stargate Universe, and a “Fan’s Choice” collection for Atlantis that included only three episodes — the two-hour premiere and the series finale.
We’re still awaiting word from MGM and Fox Home Entertainment on Blu-ray releases for Stargate SG-1, and for the second season (and/or complete series) of SGU. Though Atlantis and SGU were filmed with high def cameras, the earlier seasons of SG-1 would likely require a greater investment from the studio to remaster for a true HD experience.
Pick up Stargate Atlantis: The Complete Series on Blu-ray today, and join us for the Stargate Rewatch project starting next week!

Default Stargate Universe earns VFX Emmy nomination

Nominations for the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards were announced today by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and Stargate Universe has made the cut.
The show was nominated for Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series for the Season Two episode “Awakening.” In addition to Destiny’s encounter with an Ancient seed ship, the episode introduced the fully realized CG (computer-generated) alien race, which the crew would later learn are called the Ursini.
Competition in the category this year includes Boardwalk Empire (“Pilot”), The Borgias (“The Poisoned Chalice” / “The Assassin”), The Walking Dead (“Days Gone Bye”), and Game of Thrones (“Fire And Blood”).
Congratulations to visual effects supervisor Mark Savela and his team, including: Krista McLean (Digital Effects Supervisor), Craig VandenBiggelaar (Digital Effects Supervisor), Adam de Bosch Kemper (Lead Animator), Erica Henderson (Lead Compositor), Michael Lowes (Lead 3D Artists), Wes Sargent (Key 3D Artist), Luke Vallee (Key Visual Effects Compositor), Kodie MacKenzie (Key Visual Effects Compositor), and all the other unsung heroes behind SGU‘s visuals.
Stargate SG-1‘s Beau Bridges (“Hank Landry”) also adds another Emmy nomination to his resume this year, for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, for the role of Nick Brody in Brothers & Sisters.
In other sci-fi and fantasy news, HBO’s acclaimed new show Game of Thrones garnered 13 nominations, including Best Drama and a Best Supporting Actor nom for Peter Dinklage (“Tyrion Lannister”). Vampire drama True Blood earned four nods, including a guest actress nomination for Alfre Woodard. AMC’s breakout zombie hit The Walking Dead picked up three nominations, including visual effects, prosthetic makeup, and sound editing. Camelot picked up one for its main title music, and NBC’s short-lived The Cape earned a nod for prosthetic makeup.
Winners of this year’s Emmys will be announced in a primetime telecast September 18 on FOX.

Default Stargate the Movie: A Guide to the Editions

It will take you a million light years from home … But will it bring you back?
Since Stargate the movie hit the home video market back in the mid 1990s, fans have had many choices and many chances to add it to their library. The film has been repackaged and released every few years in the past decade and a half. But what’s so special about each one, and how do you tell them apart?
To go along with this week’s lead-up to the Stargate Rewatch, we present GateWorld’s guide to the different editions of the film, which first hit theaters in October of 1994. We’re looking at U.S. releases here, though fans in other countries will certainly recognize the same (or similar) packaging and features.
Stargate (1995, DVD 1997)
Originally released on VHS (and 12-inch LaserDisc — there’s a copy in my collection), the basic release of the movie included the original theatrical cut and — before the advent of DVD, of course — no bonus material. But we loved it just the same, because we could watch death gliders strafe the desert city and Daniel rescue the princess on our own TV sets!
A digitally remastered version was released on VHS in letterbox format in 1997, which was also the first edition on DVD.

Stargate: Special Edition (1999)
The arrival of the DVD market gave studios and fans an incredible opportunity. For studios, they could re-release movies already out on VHS and get customers to snatch up the new copies, even if they already owned the movie on video tape. For fans it was a no-brainer: in addition to the vastly improved picture and audio quality, Stargate‘s Special Edition release included an audio commentary from filmmakers Roland Emmerich (director) and Dean Devlin (writer and producer) (who told us — among other things — that they had nothing whatsoever to do with that SG-1 TV show that had just begun).
To make things even better, the Special Edition sported a brand new director’s cut of the film. Devlin and Emmerich restored approximately nine minutes of footage from the cutting room floor, including some of these favorites:
  • Instead of opening up on the discovery of the Stargate in 1928, the film begins with Ra’s abduction of his human host thousands of years ago. A little bit of this is later revisited in the flashback sequence as Daniel narrates the story he’s read on the cave wall, but the original opening was much longer.
  • The Stargate isn’t the only thing dug up in Egypt in 1928. Archeologists working for Dr. Langford also found a pair of petrified alien warriors (Horus guards), who were either buried with the Stargate or tried to come through after it was buried.
  • Later, inside the military research facility, General West and Colonel O’Neill look at the Horus remains in storage there, and have a clandestine conversation about the dangerous mission ahead. They know, but aren’t telling anyone else, that there are likely to be hostile aliens on the other side.
  • Daniel Jackson convinces the General to let him go through the Stargate because he guarantees he’ll be able to find the address back to Earth on the other side and dial the team home. In the theatrical version, O’Neill turns to the General and says, “It’s your call …” In the director’s cut, his line about Jackson is: “He’s full of shit.”
  • When the sandstorm approaches the alien city of Nagada, the team loses contact with those soldiers they left back at the pyramid and try to leave. Skaara and the others stop them and shut the city doors, causing a hostile reaction from the soldiers that nearly gets the kids shot. Only when Skaara shows O’Neil the approaching storm do they figure out that they aren’t being held against their will.
Fan consensus (if there is such a thing) is generally that the director’s cut is preferred, since it adds a few elements to the mythology (like the discovery of the fossilized Jaffa warriors in 192 that shed light on the rest of the film, such as the military’s attitude and the reason why Jack was given a suicide mission — apparently even before the gate was successfully dialed.

Stargate: Ultimate Edition (2003)
Lions Gate (note that it’s not MGM that owns the distribution rights to the film) released the Ultimate Edition largely as a repackaging effort to boost flagging sales of back catalog titles like Stargate. It included both the theatrical version and the director’s cut of the film, and the same producers’ commentary from the Special Edition. What’s new here was the addition of a couple of bonus featurettes, the most notable of which is a 20-minute piece that gave fans a look behind-the-scenes at the making of the film — including some memorable shots of the crew on location in under the hot desert sun in Yuma, Arizona.

Stargate: Extended Cut (2006)
This was Stargate‘s first arrival on the new Blu-ray high definition format. Though the cover art is the same as the Ultimate Edition, the film’s first 1080 transfer includes only the longer cut of the film and the audio commentary — no other bonus features. But hey, it’s a first try on a new format that, at the time, was expensive to produce.

Stargate: 15th Anniversary Edition (2009)
Marking the movie’s 15th anniversary, the current edition is by far the most comprehensive. It includes both cuts of the film, the producers’ commentary, the making-of featurette, and several newly-produced featurettes, including recent interviews with members of the film’s cast and crew looking back on the production — 4 hours of bonus material (including the 2-hour commentary), the studio boasts. There’s also a never before seen gag reel, and an interactive game. The audio track has also been upgraded to a lossless 7.1 DTS-HD master track.
For a bit of nostalgia, check out a 10-minute promo reel for the film (looks like it was cut before the movie hit theaters) on YouTube. It includes several of those cut scenes described above, as well as alternate takes and edits on familiar scenes!

Default Stargate Rewatch: SG-1 Season One!

Today GateWorld kicks off the Stargate Rewatch, an epic, 17-month return to three of the greatest science fiction televisionseries of all time: Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe. We’re watching the entire franchise in order, one season each month, along with community discussion and special features here at GateWorld.
Thousands of fans from around the world have already told us they’re participating, and we want you along for the journey! Read more about the Rewatch and how you can participate. Get creative with your Rewatch plans! Blog it. Tweet it. One group of fans at SparkPeople is tying their Stargate viewing with a regular fitness challenge!
For your viewing pleasure all this month is SG-1 Season One, which first aired on Showtime in the U.S. all the way back in 1997-98. Two of MGM’s producers for its Outer Limits series approached them about making a television series based on the 1994 Kurt Russell movie, to which the studio had acquired the rights. Jonathan Glassner and Brad Wright were given the go-ahead, with a remarkable 2-year upfront commitment from Showtime. The network liked what it saw in those first episodes, and soon upped their order to 88 episodes — a full four years.
To take over the role of Kurt Russell’s dour and chiseled Colonel Jack O’Neill, the producers hired TV veteran Richard Dean Anderson — who brought a legion of his own fans from MacGyver (and the short-lived UPN series Legend). He would soften the character and add his own trademark humor, and also offered many connections with production crew and actors in the Vancouver film and television industry. Michael Shanks was signed to take over James Spader’s Dr. Daniel Jackson after delivering a solid impression of the sneezy, awkward archaeologist.
And the writers added three new regular characters to the mix: a brilliant astrophysicist named Captain Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping), who had already been working on the Stargate project for two years before the events of the feature film; Teal’c (Christopher Judge), a stoic Jaffa warrior who joins the fight against his people’s oppressors; and Major General George Hammond (Don S. Davis), the no-nonsense base commander who would later soften and grow into a fatherly figure.
Stargate SG-1 was off and running.
Things to watch for:
  • <LI itxtHarvested="0" itxtNodeId="48">One character from the movie gets not only an actor change, but a full-on name change, as well. (We can only guess that it was to make her name easier to remember and pronounce.) <LI itxtHarvested="0" itxtNodeId="47">Several supporting characters are introduced in the first episodes and would last through all 10 seasons of the show, though early on they didn’t even have on-screen names yet. <LI itxtHarvested="0" itxtNodeId="46">How far into the series is it before another beloved character, Janet Fraiser, makes her debut? <LI itxtHarvested="0" itxtNodeId="45">The Nox get a full episode, but would play a minor part in the rest of the series. The Asgard, on the other hand, get a couple of mentions but don’t even appear on screen — and would play a major part in what’s to come. <LI itxtHarvested="0" itxtNodeId="44">Look closely at the TV news broadcaster seen briefly in “There But For the Grace of God.” Recognize him from a later, much larger role?
  • How in the world did SG-1 manage to make it so long without zat guns?! Don’t worry … they’ll show up before the end of the season.

Which version of “Children of the Gods” should I watch? Whichever you prefer! If you haven’t seen 2009′s Final Cut, do check it out. With the nudity removed (Showtime insisted on it, over executive producer Brad Wright’s objections), it’s also more family-friendly.
Come back next week to vote in the Season One polls!

You know, there's a lot of people out there who don't know that The Lion King was a complete and total ripoff of the Kimba The White Lion TV series.

By the same token, Stargate is an offshoot of the Star Trek TV episode The City On The Edge of Forever.

Default SGU Season Two arrives in U.S. syndication

When it wasn’t airing on U.S. cable stations Showtime and Syfy Channel, the Stargate franchise has also been dominating the U.S. syndication market for more than a decade. This weekend, the final season of the third series enters syndication for the 2011-2012 season.
Syndication includes all those local stations in individual markets that buy the repeat rights for the new season, so you’ll want to check your local listings to find the time and station when these episodes air during the week. Most stations air syndicated episodes of Stargate on the weekend, often in the late afternoon or very late at night.
SGU Season Two begins airing the week of September 12, meaning you may have already spotted “Intervention” on your TV dial over the weekend. New-to-syndication episodes continue next week with “Aftermath.” (We’ve published the exclusive, full-season schedule here.)
But never fear, Atlantis fans — MGM is also giving you another chance to enjoy a “best of” run of SGA episodes in the new syndication year, as part of its “MGM Presents” offering to stations. Atlantis will run from this coming week (the week starting September 19) through March 18, at which point repeats of The Outer Limits will take over its spot.
We don’t have a list of episodes for the schedule yet, but we’ll update GateWorld’s syndication schedule as soon as it is available.
Meanwhile, Syfy Channel continues to air classic episodes of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis on a somewhat irregular schedule, at 5 p.m., 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. (E/P) most nights. The shows can also be spotted on various specialty cable channels operated by MGM and Showtime.

Default Stargate Rewatch: SG-1 Season Three

To hell with us …’
This month the Stargate Rewatch has reached one of our favorite seasons from the 17-year history of Stargate on television: SG-1 Season Three! From Hathor to Sokar, from Urgo to Replicators — this season has it all. As you plug away on your DVDs, digital downloads, or online streaming of Stargate, here’s an intro to the season of the month, and links to all the Season Three goodness we have scattered around GateWorld.
We want to hear from you! If you are blogging about your Rewatch, writing new fanfic, creating artwork, or doing something else related to SG-1 Season Three, e-mail us a brief description and a link. We’ll feature some of the best from the Stargate community later this month.
Learn more about the Stargate Rewatch and how you can participate. It’s not too late to catch up!
Season Three of Stargate SG-1 first aired on Showtime in the U.S. in 1999 and 2000. Earth had made new friends and allies in the Asgard and the Tok’ra, and witnessed the downfall of the powerful Goa’uld System Lord Apophis. Those alliances would prove vital to Earth’s survival, as well as the recovery of Sam’s dad. Sokar steps forward to fill in the power vacuum and try to take over the galaxy, Jack gets stranded on another world, and the fates of both Daniel’s wife and her brother — taken as Goa’uld hosts in the show’s pilot episode — would be decided.
Things to watch for this season:
  • Jack begins a special relationship with a little gray friend.
  • General Hammond takes a rare trip off-world.
  • A boy who shares a name with Vala Mal Doran’s future husband.
  • “If you immediately know the candlelight is fire, then the meal was cooked a long time ago.”
  • A guest appearance by Laura Mennell, who now stars on Syfy’s Alphas
  • The very first appearance of a Goa’uld cargo ship (or Tel’tak)
  • “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” sung in rounds
  • What the heck does ‘kree’ mean?
  • Sam takes a play from Sokar’s playbook
  • “All debts have now been paid.” … Now where have we heard that before?
On GateWorld:
  • Forum: Official discussion threads for every episode! (The main thread for the Rewatch project is here.)
  • Podcast: Darren and David discuss all of Season Three. (If this is your first time watching, beware of thorough spoilers!)
  • Episode Guide: Our handy guide to every episode of Season Three

They are great shows and the fact that Claudia Black and Amanda Tapping are in them is a bonus ... I would take a bullet for either of them. Yummy.

Default one of the last Stargate Cons in Canada

A favorite event and destination for Stargate fans for the better part of a decade will disappear after next year. But before it goes, you might have the chance to be there to say farewell.
For the eighth consecutive — and sadly, final — year, Creation Entertainment will be hosting an Official Stargate Convention in the TV franchises’ home city of Vancouver, British Columbia. The con, once again being held at the Metrotown Hilton in Burnaby, is set for April 27-29, 2012. To celebrate its final Canadian outing, GateWorld is teaming up with Creation as they give one lucky winner (and their guest) the chance to attend the convention in style as a special present this holidayseason.
Typically, guests for the Vancouver convention can and have been added up to a week prior to the event — but Creation has already amassed a formidable line-up of stars from the long-running franchise. Other names will be announced leading up to the event, but those already announced include:Through the generosity of Creation, GateWorld is giving away a pair of Gold Weekend Passes to the event. Those familiar with Creation conventions know how inclusive these tickets are. But for those who may have never been to a Creation convention, an explanation is in order — especially since the Vancouver con features other additional perks.
These two gold passes are valued at approximately $800, and will provide the winner and their guest with:
  • Reserved seating close to the stage for all three days of the event
  • Complimentary entrance to the Friday night Celebrity Cabaret
  • A Gold Pass-only dessert party attended by Christopher Judge, Kavan Smith and more.
  • In-person complimentary autographs from many of the stars attending
  • A Stargate gift produced by Creation — and created only for the Vancouver convention.
Members of GateWorld’s editorial staff will be there — would you like to be there, too? Then simply head over to the contest thread in the GateWorld Forum and answer the question “Who is your favorite Stargate character — and why?” Register first if you’re not a member of the forum yet. It’s quick, and it’s free! (Remember that if you already have a GateWorld account for commenting here on news stories, you still need a separate account on GateWorld Forum to post over there.)
We’ll randomly choose a winner on January 2, 2012 — and they will be notified via the forum. You must be 18 years or older to enter, and only one entry per person, please. Duplicate entries will result in disqualification.
IMPORTANT: This contest provides the winner and guest with tickets to the convention only. The winner and guest are responsible for all other issues involving con attendance. Airfare (or other travel expenses), hotel accomodations and other incidentals are not included. Please also note that since the convention is in Canada, any non-Canadian winner must also provide proper documentation to travel internationally.
Good luck to all who enter!

Saw the movie and watched SG-1 up until they defeated "Goold", then it became about some messed up chick and them traveling around the universe for no real reason in one episode alone. That made me not want to watch the rest really, especially with Jack gone. I didnt like the new guy either. I watched the 200th episode though, that was fun. Saw the last episode and hated they had a song in it.
Didnt get into the other two shows but my dad did. I was little when the movie came out.

Default 200th Episode

General Jack O'Neill has ordered Lt. Colonels Samantha Carter and Cameron Mitchell, Dr. Daniel Jackson, Teal'c, and Vala Mal Doran to review a movie script by Martin Lloyd. His failed television show based on the Stargate program, Wormhole X-Treme!, is being turned into a feature film!

The script opens with SG-1 finally meeting the elusive Furlings face-to-face. They are fury, panda-like creatures. But the Goa'uld attack, and Carter is unable to prevent a thermodynamic loop from feeding back into the planet's core. With a shrug, she and Jackson beam out as the world is blown apart.

At the real Stargate Command, Carter points out this never happened -- but Mitchell contends that a movie should open big! Sam thinks it's wrong to have the heroes cause a major catastrophe. Mitchell thinks the script review will be fun, while Jackson snipes that Mitchell thinks everything is fun. Vala notes the absence of a sexy, female alien in the movie script -- namely, her. General Landry promises to rescue them after they've spent some time around the conference table with Martin.

Cut to Mitchell's pitch for an action-packed movie scene: S.G.C. personnel have been transformed into marauding zombies by Telchak's device ("Evolution, Part 2"). Guns blazing, Cam fights his way to the gate, intent on returning the device that has caused this mayhem. Shooting zombies left and right, he orders Walter Harriman to dial the gate. But it is too late -- the control room has been overrun, and the zombies get the poor technician.

Martin interrupts the pitch, saying zombies have been done to death. (Jackson wants to know where the rest of SG-1 was during Mitchell's heroics.) When Marty receives a phone call from the studio telling him that his lead actor Nick Marlowe has backed out, the team offers ways to refer to the character, including phone calls. Mitchell suggests just bringing in another character. Martin wants them to pitch cool ideas like body switching, prompting Carter to recall a time O'Neill was rendered invisible by alien technology.

Landry interrupts to send SG-1 and Vala on a recon mission. Mitchell is especially enthusiastic because it will be his 200th trip through the Stargate. The gate, however, fails to power up. They'll have to go back to the conference room with Martin while diagnostics are performed.

Cut to SG-1 -- with 10 seconds to get through the gate, pursued by Replicators to a cliff's edge. On the plain below, between them and the gate, Al'kesh ships. But it's just another scene from the script.

Martin calls a break to write down Carter's techno-talk as she explains why the gate isn't working. Vala pitches a story that casts her as Dorothy, Carter as a Tok'ra, Mitchell as the Scarecrow, Teal'c as the Tin Man, Jackson as the Cowardly Lion and Landry as the Ascended being, a.k.a., "The Wizard of Oz." Her request -- she originally just wanted to go home, but now she wants to be a part of something -- a regular part. Martin recognizes the story and dismisses the eager Vala.

In Martin's new end to Act Two, the Stargate capacitors overload in an attempt to fix it, blowing up Cheyenne Mountain! Fortuitously, the heroes beam out, prompting a discussion of convenience beaming in science fiction.

Martin moves to Scene 24: a Star Trek homage with Mitchell as Captain Kirk, Carter as the blond assistant infatuated with Kirk, Teal'c as Worf and Jackson as the science officer. Reading the script, Jackson pronounces the whole scene ridiculous, and Teal'c wonders why everything must explode in the movie. Mitchell suggests never underestimating the audience, as "they are sensitive, intelligent people who respond positively to quality entertainment."

After another studio call, Marty reveals that when the star won't sign, a junior network execuctive wants to recast the team with younger, edgier versions.

Vala next tries to pitch Gilligan's Island. When Martin catches on, she recasts Farscape -- with Carter as Chiana, Teal'c as D'Argo, Jackson as Crichton, herself as Aeryn, Thor as Rygel, and Mitchell as Stark.

Vala asks why Martin wasn't just given the mission files -- all 1,263 of them. Jackson and Carter reveal there is a mission file Mitchell hasn't read. They won't tell him, but they tell Vala that "File 30185" concerns their trip to 1969 ("1969"), and that Mitchell was born 9 months later -- implying that he made it into the F-302 program and into SG-1 because Jack O'Neill is his daddy. Mitchell finally realizes he's being punked.

With his actors holding out, Martin ponders the possibility of doing his movie without them. In a scene done completely with puppets, General Hammond puts together a marionette SG-1 team about to step through the Stargate for the first time.

At the real S.G.C., General O'Neill arrives just as Teal'c pitches a show about himself in a trench coat, hat, and earrings: Teal'c P.I. With the gate fixed, Colonel Mitchell invites O'Neill on his 200th trip through the Stargate.

When Martin wants a new ending for the movie, O'Neill suggests fishing ("Moebius, Part 2"). Martin wonders what the twist is -- no fish?

Vala suggests a wedding. Daniel is Jack's best man in the fantasy scene, though he is concerned that if Carter doesn't show up for their big day, people will think he and Jack are marrying! Thor, Carter, and Vala (her maid of honor), beam in. Despite the intimate moment, O'Neill calls her "Carter" and she calls him "sir."

In the real world, General Landry announces the mission to P2C-106 a go. O'Neill invites Landry, who in turn invites Walter to join them. When Walter enters the gate room, Landry asks if everything is ready. SG teams 3 through 18, cake, balloons, and streamers are waiting on the other side to commemorate Mitchell's 200th trip.

O'Neill invites Martin to go along in search of his ending, but the producer announces that the movie has been cancelled. The TV series, however, has been renewed! Skip ahead to Wormhole X-Treme!, 10 years later, wrapping their own 200th episode. As he and the Wormhole actors do interviews, Martin learns that the movie is back on.

Default Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis crossover Episode

The Odyssey drops out of hyperspace inside the Pegasus Galaxy. In the mess hall, Colonel Mitchell and Vala Mal Doran sit opposite a sleeping Dr. Jackson. Mitchell tickles Jackson's ear, rousing him, just as Colonel Emerson announces their approach to Atlantis. They race to the bridge. Carter is already there.

Mitchell suggests they take a moment to enjoy the view. When it's over, Carter, Vala and Mitchell head off as Jackson takes in Atlantis a bit longer.

In the city, Carter conducts a mission briefing with Dr. Weir, Mitchell, Jackson, Vala, Dr. McKay and Colonel Sheppard. The Ori Supergate has been inactive since the first ships came through. Priors are promising reinforcements. Carter plans to use a gate Teal'c is positioning near the Supergate to dial in with one powered by a Pegasus Galaxy black hole. A directed nuclear blast will force a jump to the Supergate, preventing the Ori from using it.

Jackson and Vala are staying behind in order to search the Ancient database for clues to Merlin's weapon, the Sangraal. Sheppard tells Mitchell that McKay is mortally allergic to citrus as he tosses him a lemon.

Vala, contemplating the "souvenirs" the city must harbor, wants to sight-see, but Jackson steers her back to their part of the mission. She lifts an electronic device from Dr. Zelenka's desk, which he hurries after her to retrieve.

Carter and McKay secure the warheads on Odyssey. Rodney takes a moment to tell Carter how she saved him when he was in a tight situation ("Grace Under Pressure"). She isn't flattered, especially when he reveals she was half-naked.

With the V.R. room's holographic interface -- an image of a Lantian woman -- Jackson begins his research. Bored, Vala goads him into simply asking where Castiana and Sahal are, even though Weir has said her search of the database revealed nothing. The hologram immediately discloses their Milky Way locations and gate addresses.

Near a black hole accretion disk, Odyssey releases a Milky Way Stargate. Inside the Milky Way, Teal'c has positioned a regular Stargate near the Supergate. Carter releases a directed nuclear charge near the Stargate, which translates much of the explosion through the other side, but Teal'c reports it is inadequate. No jump has been made.

Question answered, Vala is ready to leave, but Jackson is suspicious. He asks to see a visual record of Atlanteans who fled to Earth after the first siege. They spot Moros, whom they recognize as Merlin. Faced with Vala's impatience, Jackson finally confronts the hologram. The hologram turns and looks him in the eye. "You have your answer, Daniel Jackson," she says. "I suggest you act on it." She disappears.

McKay and Carter argue about calculations for the next try. Mitchell prods McKay, forcing him to work harder by threatening him with the lemon. Eventually, McKay explains that they need a different sort of blast -- two bombs, exploding in succession. Emerson is concerned about Odyssey and the Stargate, but Carter feels it's worth the risk.

Zelenka informs Weir that because of the blasts a Wraith hive ship has been drawn to Odyssey's location. Because of the black hole, communications and sensors will not function. Weir calls the S.G.C. Sergeant Harriman agrees to have Teal'c pass the warning through his Stargate.

Jackson tells Vala and Weir that the hologram was Morgan le Fay, an ascended Ancient. Coaxed back, Morgan explains that she and Merlin ascended, but several thousand years later, Merlin retook human form when he saw the threat of the Ori. He kept his work secret, but Morgan was sent to observe. By retaining all of his ascended knowledge and powers, Merlin created a weapon that could wipe out all ascended beings. He also formed an enclave of man -- Arthur and Camelot -- to whom he entrusted with his secret. Long ago his opponent, Morgan now understands.

Carter beams in the warheads. Teal'c reports they were unsuccessful, although energy did pass between the gates this time. Before a final attempt can be prepared, an Ori ship arrives at the Supergate. Teal'c conceals their Stargate by extending the cargo ship's cloaking field.

Morgan claims to have no reason to deceive them. She used her teaching hologram as a means of communicating the answers they sought, without overstepping the rules. Jackson rails against hidden clues and cryptic messages. The Ori are a threat to all humans as well as the ascended. When the war is over and all humans feed Ori the power they seek, they will come for the Ancients. Everyone's survival is on the line.

As the Ori ship patrols the Supergate, SG-11 relays Weir's warning. In Pegasus, the Wraith vessel emerges from hyperspace. Teal'c passes along the message.

Jackson surmises that Morgan is afraid of doing the right thing and being punished. He encourages her to be a leader and cross the line the Ancients have established. Vala asks her which planet to search. As Morgan begins her reply, she is pulled away by the others of her kind.

The Wraith fire, knocking out Odyssey's hyperdrive. As the hive ship slingshots around the black hole their jamming technology fails. Carter beams the warheads into the ship. Odyssey slingshots around the anomaly as well, using the gravity well to accelerate out. Just as the hive ship comes into range of the Stargate, Carter detonates the warheads.

Teal'c powers his systems, luring the Ori ship over the Supergate. The energy boost from the Wraith ship's destruction makes the gate jump work. The energy vortex of the activating Supergate destroys the Ori ship -- a great and unexpected victory.

While looking out over Atlantis, Vala consoles Jackson. They now have the addresses to the worlds they needed to find. But one sad truth has been revealed. The Ancients are not going to help.

I've watched all of theme except for Stargate Continuum. I liked Atlantis the best. The pilot guy, what was his name? The one who looked Irish? He was hot!

What bothers me is that whenever they go to an alien planet, the plant life is always identical to Earth's. Oh, and the "Ass Guard".

Default 11 months left of the Stargate REWATCH

If you havent seen any of the Stargate Shows these is the year to do it. Since we are now starting Season Seven of Stargate SG-1 in Febuary. Here is a look of what is still to come of these year,
February 2012 – SG-1 Season Seven
March 2012 – SG-1 Season Eight
April 2012 – SG-1 Season Nine
May 2012 – SG-1 Season Ten + The Ark of Truth
June 2012 – Stargate Atlantis Season One
July 2012 – Atlantis Season Two
August 2012 – Atlantis Season Three
September 2012 – Atlantis Season Four
October 2012 – Atlantis Season Five + Continuum
November 2012 – Stargate Universe Season One
December 2012 – SGU Season Two That’s three films and 354 episodes at an average of five episodes each week, and each month you are free to watch that season at your own pace. Wind down in the evening with one episode five nights a week; or finish off the week with a Friday night mini-marathon; or run through every episode in one, massive session!
Where to Watch:
  • 1) On DVD. Wherever you are in the world, hopefully you’ve found all three series on DVD. Now that they’ve been out for a few years they are usually quite affordable, if you haven’t already picked them up.
    2) Netflix. As of this writing Netflix in the U.S. has all three series available to its subscribers to watch online at no extra charge! If you don’t have the DVDs on your shelf this is a great way to watch the show commercial-free. (If you aren’t a Netflix subscriber, plans that include online viewing start at $8 per month.) In the U.K., you can get Stargate DVDs by mail with your LoveFilm subscription.
    3) iTunes and Amazon. Done with physical media on your bookshelf? You can buy full seasons of the shows on iTunes or Amazon.com instead. (Use these links to support GateWorld with your purchase.)
    4) Hulu. As of this writing all 214 episodes of Stargate SG-1 are available (with limited commercials) on Hulu.com. We’re not sure how long Hulu is able to offer these episodes, but for now that’s the place to go if you don’t want to buy DVDs, digital downloads, or subscribe to Netflix. Unfortunately that’s also only available to U.S. residents.
How to Participate:
Whichever series or character is your favorite, let’s come together to celebrate a decade and a half of our favorite shows! The important part is to think of the Rewatch as a worldwide community event. The key to its success is that you participate … not just by watching along at home, but by talking about the show with other fans and posting about your rewatch online! Here are some ideas of things you can do while you are rewatching each of the series:
  • <LI style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 10px" itxtHarvested="0" itxtNodeId="223">Facebook & Twitter. Use the hashtag #SGRewatch and post about what you are watching this week! (Be sure to follow @GateWorld and Like Us on Facebook for updates.) <LI style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 10px" itxtHarvested="0" itxtNodeId="222">Have a Blog? Post reviews of your favorite (and least favorite) episodes, track the growth of your favorite character, use your fanfic skills to fill in those missing scenes, or anything else you can come up with! Send us a link to what you are doing and we’ll post links to the best, most creative interactions with the rewatch.
  • GateWorld Forum! We have official discussion threads for every episode, which we’ll be bringing up and encouraging you to use to keep the conversation going.
New Features at GateWorld:
We’ll also have ongoing features at GateWorld that are keyed in to that particular season of the month. We’re open to new ideas, but here is what we are planning so far:
  • <LI style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 10px" itxtHarvested="0" itxtNodeId="234">Week 1 of each month: We’ll kick things off by re-introducing you to the season of the month, with behind-the-scenes factoids, links to relevant interviews, podcasts, galleries, and more on the site, and a call for you to nominate your favorite episode, favorite character moments, etc. <LI style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 10px" itxtHarvested="0" itxtNodeId="233">Week 2: The polls go up! Vote for your favorites from that season. We’ll also release an exclusive audio commentary on an episode selected by your GateWorld podcasters. Just press play on your iPod or PC when the episode starts, and we’ll watch along with you! <LI style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 10px" itxtHarvested="0" itxtNodeId="232">Week 3: Other season-specific special features — suggestions welcome!
  • Week 4: We’ll announce the final poll results as readers pick their favorite episode and character moments from the season. And (if all goes according to plan) we’ll have a second audio commentary ready to go for the episode that you’ve selected as the best of the season!

Default Stargate Rewatch

So far we have gone threw 132 epsiodes and one movie. There is now four seasons and two DVD movies left of Stargate SG-1 Rewatch. Then there is the five seasons of Stargate Atlantis and then the finale two seasons of Stargate Universe to do. So if you havent see any of the three series check your local cable or DirectTV for any of the stargate shows. Or you can use Netflicks to get all of them that way.
"God Speed" and
"See you on the otherside"

I like Stargate Universe, to bad they cancelled it. Robert Carlye rocks and is even better in the new show Once Upon a Time as Rumpelstiltskin/Mr Gold.

All of us fans have to do is buy the products from Stargate and keep writting letters to MGM to bring back Stargate. Since the only reason that SGU got canned was that the SyFy Channel did it. Plus not running it in the summer time and on Friday night.

Dont miss Season Nine of Stargate Rewatch right now.

Default Christopher Judge in Dark Knight

Last summer we reported that former Stargate SG-1 co-star Christopher Judge (“Teal’c”) had been cast in The Dark Knight Rises, the third and final Batman film from director Christopher Nolan. Our very first look at Judge is here, courtesy of the just-released third trailer for the film.
Judge’s blink-and-you’ll-miss it shot is around minute 1:17. Click on the image for a larger view.
It’s still not clear what Judge’s role is, though we’re guessing he may be one of villain Bane’s muscle-bound thugs. In the shot he is seen shoving a man into a pit.
Check out the full trailer below, and follow Chris on Twitter @iamchrisjudge. The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and arrives in theaters July 20.

Only SyFy was the one that cancelled the show not MGM. Although MGM was having money problems before SyFy Cancelled SGU.

Default Ben Browder to guest star on Doctor Who

I dont know if i have said this already if not here it goes....

As if his leading roles on Farscape and Stargate SG-1 weren’t enough, Ben Browder is ratcheting up his geek credentials even further. The “Cameron Mitchell” actor has been booked for a guest appearance on Doctor Who for the BBC, according to the show’s official magazine.
Browder will appear in the third episode of the next season (the show’s seventh — or thirty-third, depending on how you count them). The story is said to be set in the American Wild West, though it is filming in Spain. The currently untitled episode is written by Toby Whithouse (BBC3′s Being Human) and directed by Saul Metzstein.
Rather than its usual spring premiere, Who will begin its seventh season in the fall on BBC and BBC America.
Check out Pop Culture Zoo for the original report!
UPDATE: It looks like a 2012 Doctor Who Easter special was widely speculated and even misreported on some sites, but has not been confirmed by the BBC. The story above has been corrected.
