What video game are you currently playing?

I've seen a lot of these "what are you..." threads, like for what you're wearing, what music you're listening to, ect...so I thought maybe I'd start a video game one and see if it'll get 1000 responses too! One can only hope...

So what video game are you currently into? I was playing a lot of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, since my brothers and some of my friends play it online a lot, but I recently got back in Elders Scroll 4: Oblivion. Amazing game, I know I'm going to sink some 80 hours into it easily, and even more when I get my hands on the Shivering Isles Expansion pack.

Level 25, I think, on my second prestige also. Yeah, it sucks, but for me, I suck at the game. I had to put on the lowest killstreaks cause I kept getting frustrated that I couldnt pull off an AC130 or Nuke. It's impossible for me. So what satisfaction do I get from playing? The EXP! So I've decided to keep on prestiging so I could keep getting EXP and be satisfied playing. Seriously, if I ever hit 10 prestige level 70, I'm going to stop playing, right there. Nothing else for me to do. I doubt that'll happen, though....

My brother, though, he's a whiz at the game. I think the last time I asked, he told me since he started playing he's gotten 30 nukes. He's scary good...

Pretty much. He's put up the sensitivity of the analog sticks so he can turn faster. Other then that, he usually sticks with a silenced UMP, and he's deadly accurate with the M16. That gun with stopping power is pretty much a one hit everytime. He's also not only memorized the maps, but he can predict, well, predictable team tactics. If the opposing team just likes to rush, then he's usually garanteed to get a few harriers and a chopper gunner, and every now and then a nuke.

He hasnt gotten many lately cause all he plays is Search and Destroy with his friends in a party. He needs to play in the game mode that requires the max amount of tactical movement for any challenge.

I just... *speechless* I stuck by the Scar-H for a while because paired with Stopping power it's kickass but my standby was the ACR because it was so accurate and faster rate of fire. It sucks having to get your perks to pro every time you prestige. It was such a pain in the ass to get Ninja Pro and Cold Blooded Pro the last time around so I would be completely invisible when playing Search and Destroy, I wont even play that game mode until I get those perks again.

Scar-H is really good, the only problem with it is the low amount of bullets it carries. You wont really reach a high killstreak with it unless your shot placements really count. I stick with Team Deathmatch because A) the campers stick to Sabotage and B) multiple respawns.

My best match was on Favela and I went 38, 2 and 8. epic epicness.

I keep hearing a lot about Alan Wake, I really need to look these games up. That and Red Dead Redemption just came up out of nowhere and are like "WE'RE AWESOME GAMES". Was I not paying attention?
Modern Warfare 2 is good, but has a lot of flaws, mostly with the community, like whiny preteens, players who care more about getting their killstreaks then DEFUSING THE DAMN BOMB, and the such. I play it cause my friends play it. If it were up to me, I'd have everyone playing Warhawk. REALLY fun online game.

see for me I have been following Alan Wake since it first showed up in 2005 at E3. I believe this game has been in production for atleast 6 or 7 years and trust me it shows. if you are looking for a shooter look elsewhere. but so far it is an AMAZING game...although it wouldn't have killed them to sync the voices with the facial animations

It's hard to tell for me. There are actually 2 PS3's in this house, one is mine and the other belongs to my brother, so that, plus the a few laptops that are also using the Wifi really strains it, especially when we try to get into the same game. I used to play the first Sims a lot. I dont think I got bored of it, I guess my attention span was too short at the time, I should really try again now...if my laptop can handle the newer ones. Usually my brother just puts a family in a house full of nothing but wooden furniture, sets something on fire and let's nature take its course....

Well... I wouldn't have even started playing Sims if it weren't for my doctor suggesting it as a way for me to deal with stress... long story.

I play with so much hacks and mods in mine that it bogs down my computer but I can not help it. My biggest weakness is making everyone just fucking like wild monkeys. I wonder if that is a sign of a sex addict... **ponders**

I play all sorts of games but usually they fall in the "pussy games" category... RPGs and other games like that.

I freakin love KOTOR! First one's better but I like the second as well. Only problem is I've got a 360. I'm still on Oblivion, but pretty soon I'll be back into Rock Band 2 and Lego Rock Band. I'm on Gamefly right now, so I have Lego Rock Band rented out, and I plan on buying it so I can transfer all the songs to Rock Band 2. After I do that, the next game they will send me is Beatles Rock Band.
I recently bought a decent drum set, so I need some incentive to play. It's a really good work out, especially playing on expert.

I've seen my friends play Fable 2 once or twice. Looks ok, but I dont have a 360. I miss out on a lot of popular games, and I'm glad more games are going multi-plat.

I played the crappy PS3 version for a bit. It's ok, but it didnt have the developer support of the PC version and barely anyone plays on it.

I have a life. I have friends, I have a girlfriend who adores me and even plays some video games with me, I'm gonna start classes at a university next term, and I have a job to sustain my very, very expensive hobby.

Playing video games is no different then watching TV, reading books, playing lots of sports, ect. They're hobbies, and they're only destructive when you cant get your priorities straight.

Well I don't know about you but I don't have the hours in the day to play video games or have the inclination to play them anyway. My view on them is formed on the basis that anyone I know who tends to play them doesn't have much of a life or isn't very interesting/educated anyway. If I ever got to the situation where I might want a video game system, I'd just read more.

Well, thats a bit of a harsh judgement dont you think? Video games dont rule peoples lives, especially not mine, its just a form of entertainment. I happen to have a bloody good social life, lots of mates, plus well educated! Got my A-Levels, and heading to Uni in september to do a degree in Forensic Science, just because we indulge in video games makes us sad, pathetic, idiots

Interesting. Well, throughout my high school years and college years, I've found that the ones who like video games tend to be more intelligient and more "nerdy", the kind that usually get good grades and are interested in...some form field of study. I get a hard-on (figuratively) for astronomy and philosophy, both of which have been featured prominently in video games. There's no causation, of course, but it really depends on the person. I'd agree with your statements when it comes to a game like World of Warcraft, which demands a commitment in order to enjoy it. I stay away from that game, but even so, I have a close friend who's also an aspiring actor. He's done a multitude of plays at the college we go to, he's gotten offers from all over the place, and he's a really good actor. To learn all the lines and go to all the rehersals required for that is a major time commitment, and YET he still plays World of Warcraft. He's also the most interesting person I know. Anyone who meets him instantly likes.

But that's just me and my experiences. Of course, video games can be bad if you get too into them. So can TV. So can music, so can sports, so can sex, so can anything you do if you do it too much and dont take care of the more important things.

I am always giving my bros my old games... mostly due to the fact they can't afford to buy any themselves and I can when they are marked down (got Fable for 5 dollars). I love living near the used books store.

My husband and I are both gamers, he had a straight 4.0 grade average, was validictorian and should have had a full ride scholarship to any school he wanted but the guidance councelor fucked him over because she was a bitch (she told him she would handle everything then didn't do shit). He is now an aspiring novelist and training to be a chef.

I am an artist and aspiring novelist, I graduated bottom of my class in school but not because I am stupid... I just didn't try. I aced every test but schoolwork bored me so I had trouble unless it was creative. I missed out on an art scholarship by one semester but I will go to art school after I sell my novel. I consider a day wasted if I do not learn something. I may not be a social person but I do have plenty of friends who apprieciate my quirky personality. My older brother is a gamer but also avid reader, his life dream is becoming librarian and his hobby is wine making. The younger is a 4.0 student and dreams of being an archeologist (sorry, can't spell).

Obsidian had this thing going for awhile where they were remaking old BioWare games and doing them better. I hear they're working on a Fallout ATM, too. If you're comparing vanilla versions, I'm totally in the KOTOR1 camp with you, but this mod is really fantastic.

I guess there were hours of dialogue recorded that were cut from the final release, but Obsidian left all the unused recorded dialogue on the disks so this entire mod is completely voiced. And - with the mod - I really would say that KOTOR2 is now better than 1! LOL Some of the stuff is a little wonky (it's pretty obvious why it was cut), but it's worth replaying just for the on-ship banters. Each of the droids hates eachother and they all take turns trying to kill eachother when no one's looking. It's pretty hilarious. A ton of HK-47 dialogue got added too. And they explain why none of the characters from 1 remember each other from 2. They explain why Atris hates the PC so much and what happened to Revan. I just finished making the rounds on each planet, but there was sooo much added. And all of the sidequests make sense now, and there aren't any broken sidequests anymore. This is normally the end, too - but my buddy told me that the mod now adds like another 20 hours to the endgame. I guess the ending now makes sense, and you get to be HK-47 for awhile while you hunt down the factory that's making clones of him.

I'm not excited by TOR. I don't play MMOs to begin with, and frankly BioWare IMO has been screwing the pooch the last few years. I hate ME, didn't buy ME2 and DA:O was suuuucchh a let down. WTF - I can't be King after ALL that crap?! "Prince-Consort!?" Go Eat a Dick, Bio!

And DA:O had a 5 year production cycle. That's longer than most movies!!! LOL And it was their best guy, David Gaider (wrote BG2:ToB and rewrote the ending as a mod LOL), and that was the best they can offer? Imagine how amazing Baldur's Gate 2 would have been with a 5 year production cycle! LOL

Doubt you've ever been on an American college campus because most people have a system of some sort. Obvious entertainment aside, gaming has the ability to bring together people (that may have nothing else in common) to do something relatively safe and engaging. There are also several studies out there correlating video game play with increased motor function and hand eye coordination compared to non gamers.

Anyway...Super Street Fighter 4 is the answer to the topic, and I agree with whoever stated Bad Company 2 is more fun than MW2.

How was FF13 if you can give a somewhat objective opinion? People all over the place were bashing it, so I decided to hold onto my $60 until there's price slash. I'm one of those guys who played them back when they were 2D sprites on 16 bit systems, and I wasn't impressed with some of the later games story wise.

Obsidian had this thing going for awhile where they were remaking old BioWare games and doing them better. I hear they're working on a Fallout ATM, too. If you're comparing vanilla versions, I'm totally in the KOTOR1 camp with you, but this mod is really fantastic.

I guess there were hours of dialogue recorded that were cut from the final release, but Obsidian left all the unused recorded dialogue on the disks so this entire mod is completely voiced. And - with the mod - I really would say that KOTOR2 is now better than 1! LOL Some of the stuff is a little wonky (it's pretty obvious why it was cut), but it's worth replaying just for the on-ship banters. Each of the droids hates eachother and they all take turns trying to kill eachother when no one's looking. It's pretty hilarious. A ton of HK-47 dialogue got added too. And they explain why none of the characters from 1 remember each other from 2. They explain why Atris hates the PC so much and what happened to Revan. I just finished making the rounds on each planet, but there was sooo much added. And all of the sidequests make sense now, and there aren't any broken sidequests anymore. This is normally the end, too - but my buddy told me that the mod now adds like another 20 hours to the endgame. I guess the ending now makes sense, and you get to be HK-47 for awhile while you hunt down the factory that's making clones of him.

I'm not excited by TOR. I don't play MMOs to begin with, and frankly BioWare IMO has been screwing the pooch the last few years. I hate ME, didn't buy ME2 and DA:O was suuuucchh a let down. WTF - I can't be King after ALL that crap?! "Prince-Consort!?" Go Eat a Dick, Bio!

And DA:O had a 5 year production cycle. That's longer than most movies!!! LOL And it was their best guy, David Gaider (wrote BG2:ToB and rewrote the ending as a mod LOL), and that was the best they can offer? Imagine how amazing Baldur's Gate 2 would have been with a 5 year production cycle! LOL

Yeah, I heard they're the ones doing the newest Fallout game also. Fallout 3 was basically Oblivion with guns...which sounds like an insult, except Oblivion was an amazing game, and Fallout 3 was even better. If Obsidian follows the same format, then Fallout New Vegas is going to be just as good.
