speed linux.....comparability windoz...have an XP and new laptop with 7

linux better as a server...in the dialup days it was the only way to go....
with broadband now windows will work......and fits all uses...

I have used Linux, Unix, Windows, and Mac OS in the past. I currently have Windows 7, and see no reason to switch. I am a videogame designer and technologically speaking, it fits my needs just fine. Windows 7 has yet to be a problem for me.

But about two years ago I saw a show recomending linux as far as I know it's the saythist to be useing if given a choice I would most probberly just use Linux

i made the choice to use it once i started having issues with vista on my laptop, although i do not have a choice with my desktop for i do not know if i can play diablo III when it comes out on linux. would you happen to know anything about running games on linux? i am new to it and all

I personaly ain't computer literate at the moment I'm useing my first ever computer it's a pay as you go iPhone I don't have a pc or a laptop more than likely I can learn more about my phone here I don't no what softwere or hardwere if any this device uses or if I can download Linux on this device I don't even have a iTunes account but you no what I'm cool with what I got hopfully next phone blackberry touch I'm not botherd surely even spider webbs brake eventualy..?

i know you can put Linux on android phones but i don't know about the iPhone i don't see why you couldn't

Linux makes older slower machines very usable.

If your going to go with Linux, make sure you have some kind of knowledge of computer programming. Personally I prefer Windows XP over anything because it's easy to use.

Android is a linux build by google. As to porting games to linux, Steam (half life, half life 2) is supposedly working on porting it to Linux, same this is (again supposedly) happening with World of warcrack. As to Linux distributions, Ubuntu is probably your best bet, a lot of people are using it. I ran a Suse 10.something distrobution that was great, super stable, and as long as you didn't want wifi, a great distribution. If you're banging around on the forum, downloading porn, or have an old machine, linux is great. I'd recommend doing either a dual boot, play around with a live disc version (Knoppix is a fun one to play with) or put it on an older backup machine. You'll be spending a lot of time looking up how to do some things, but II recommend to OS to everyone, it's stable, free, and awesome. (Still need to switch my Suse comp to Ubuntu for comparison sake.)
