I remember a long time ago when I learned to use a rifle I was taught by a NRA instructor to never point the rifle at anything I did not intend to shoot. Later when I also took hunter safety training the NRA instructor made it a point that you never look at something with your scope you did not intent to shoot. He made the point that it was very disrespectful to look at another human through the scope. I guess Sara Palin never took such an NRA course and so she never understood how disrespectful her web site was. Bad as that was the Republicans never said not to and the NRA never said anything either, so that means they too were being very disrespectful and actually advocating that someone should put these people in the crosshairs. To the topic at hand, once again people are trying to use this deplorable incident as a platform for their own political agenda.

As it is viewed up here, it is surmised the incident cannot be blamed on Sarah Palin, nor gun control issues, but squarely on the sensationalist media in the US. The media that, in it's pursuit of ratings and higher paycheques, reiterates and encourages the vitrolic and hateful messages of the extremists of both sides of the political spectrum.
It is also surmised that the average american doesn't want to informed, but entertained, and will more readily watch sensationalist media that supports their viewpoint. The more outlandish the lie the more entertaining and the more people will tune in.

What the media tends to forget is that there are people out there who will take such "news" as gospel and act upon it.

Yes, both parties are responsible for the state of such a polarized political environment, but the media has been adding fuel to the fire until it exploded.

It is in my opinion the political environment in the US is akin to the 1920 Weimar Republic. And we all know the end result of that situation.
