I haven't read through the entire thread. But from what I've seen there are some really good songs you guys have.

Silent Killer - Death Angel
Wasted Sacrifice - Kill switch Engage
Burning Creation - Amon Amarth
Pig - Seether
With Oden on our side - Amon Amarth
Handle Bars - Flobots (from the Platypus EP)
Cosmic Monsters Inc. - White Zombie
Peace - Judas Priest

Ride for Vengeance - Amon Amarth

God I really need to even out my collection of death metal with some thing a lot calmer lol.

I'm loving everyones diverse selections, some of it shows your age, some shows what you learned to love from your parents, for some its just what was popular and playing when you were having the time of your life and mainly it shows we all just really ;like whatever sounds good to us or reaches us.

Spanning three hundred years this time (which is a bit short of the 800 years my full library spans ) --

Terminal March - Darren Korn: Bastion Original Soundtrack
24 Pièces en style libre, op. 31, Livre II, Marche funèbre - Louis Vierne/Ben Van Oosten
Vegetable - Radiohead
Aristocracy - Caravan
Surrogate - Swans
Beneath The Mire - Opeth
Southbound Again - Dire Straits
Prelude in A Minor, BWV 569 - J.S Bach/Peter Hurford
Here It Comes - Strawbs
Soft Shoulders - No-Man

Not bad cross section here: sacred organ music, a bit of folk/western, a bit of alt/rock, a bit of prog, a bit of melancholic pop, a bit of prog rock, a bit of metal, a bit of no-wave.

Only thing it's really missing is the dream-pop, the minimalist stuff, and the house/early dub/ambient stuff.

Very pleasantly surprised, Origen. Cheers.

If you like those guys you should check out Beach House, Cinephile, Regina, UA, possibly Ochre, Kristin Rule, Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi's album 'ROME', The Civil Wars, and that's about all I can think of right now.

I'll do a genre breakdown for you:

Beach House - dream pop
Cinephile - towntempo/triphop/chillwave
Regina - sort of dream pop with a harder edge
UA - dreampop/jazz/downtemp
Ochre: downtempo/triphop/IDM
Kristin Rule - defies explanation but it's one girl with a cello and a loop pedal, amazing
Danger Mouse etc - folk, bit indie. Not sure if I like it yet.
The Civil Wars - girl/guy folk. Intimate.

What about Danish bands? Check out Mew; currently spinning their third album Frengers and it's rather nice. Wiki lists it as Alternative rock, shoegazing, art rock.

Metallica?! Danish?! Ulrich might have been born in Denmark but moved to the States when he was 17!

And he's the worst member of Metallica.

Origen, the word is 'boat'.

Of course, the real question here is not what the songs are you're listening to, but in what quality you're listening to them!

FLAC, AIFF, and 320 here. Superior listening experience!
