Default BASEBALL SEASON 2012

Not sure if we still have any Baseball fans around here anymore but the season started this week with a staggered start. Instead of all teams playing their first game today they have been starting the season all week.

My Team, The Texas Rangers, started today with a win over the White Sox.

One game down 161 more to go.....

Wonder if we can make it back to the World Series again and maybe win it for a change.

Yankees not off to a good start; Rivera blew the save.

I have not checked the other teams as of yet because it is a long season.

Rivera is a good closer....he will not blow a lot of games..

We have a new closer this year after our last one blew the World Series.
He did well today.....he seems to put some shit on the ball Ajax wont take off....

Rockies are playing their first game right now. It's 3-3 in the 7th against the Astros. There are a ton of new players. I hardly recognize the team at all. But it's not surprising that our first rbi of 2012 came from Troy Tulowitski.

I love baseball, I really do. But it takes me a while to get back into the flow of it. The reason? Coming on the heels of March Madness, baseball just seems so dang slooooowwwww.

I like baseball, love basketball (so I understand the March Madness distraction----but that is over), but I can't really get into baseball until after the Stanley Cup Playoffs (unless the Bruins, Wings, Flyers and Devils lose early)

Well said ump. Go Flyers.

Hey they won, took them long enough but they won.

Blue Jays win longest season opener ever, 7-4 in 16 innings

Considering that they were down 4-1 in the ninth, it was a nice comeback. They had a pretty good spring training record so lets wait and see if they have what it takes this year.

Both of those were picked up from comments I made above. I have no idea why. Spam-flavor of the week maybe.

They are still the "team to beat", ELP, despite the fact that Miami is trying to out-do the Yankees in buying up everything in sight....

Back to back to the World Series is near impossible...

3 times in a row has got to be some kind of record...

But Ron says, "Man, I heard you Richie..".

Five consecutive appearances is the record (by the Yankees, twice.)

The Yankees have also appeared in four consecutive Series on three other occasions; the New York giants did the same in the early 20s.

Three Series appearances in a row is not that uncommon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ries_champions

That's the way Baseball Go..

Without checking the record books, I think the Yankees have made it to the World Series 4 times in a row 3 times and 5 times in a row once (winning 5 times in a row); the A's have made it to the World Series 3 times in a row twice, I think....

Speaking of streaks of three by the Yankees...

Oh well. They started 1-4 in '98. No panic yet.

After 2 extra inning 7-4 wins against Cleveland, Toronto dropped their first game 4-3 today in the 3rd game of that series.

They have their work cut out for them though with 3 games against Boston this week and 2 against Baltimore.

Yankees are a very old team....players age that is...

But hell I don't worry too much about the W/L till about 40 games in...

But losing to Tampa Bay says something...

Boston is 0 for 3 also...

The Tigers came back from three runs down TWICE to beat the Red Sawks and sweep them out of town.

The Tigers are showing power in 2 of the first 3 games so far.
3 games played 26 runs scored. Against 12 given up.
Avila got a 2 run shot in the bottom of the 11th to win in the 3rd game
with the RSox.

The Yankees can blow my left nut. They are the problem with baseball, should have gone to a capped draft years ago.

On the other hand I have a feeling by boys, the Twins will come out running and them blow it all just like last year. They always promise so much that you have to wonder who they are trying to convince.

Hypocrisy, don'tcha just love it ...

The country that condemns the Cuban government for suppressing free speech and not allowing opposition, has allowed a man (Ozzie Guillen) to be suspended from his job because of his political beliefs. Er, guys? You're now exactly the kind of dictatorship you're accusing Cuba of being.

In a free, democratic country, he'd be protected by law from anyone being allowed to punish him for his political beliefs. I guess the USA was always lying when it claimed to be one.

The USA did not suspend him the team owner and Manager did....he is under certain contract details and in a Heavy Cuban community what he said was not too cool.

The White Sox are just not the White Sox without Ozzie! No way! They should have never let him go. Maybe they can get Ozzie Osbourne to manage the Sox? Can't hurt.

Toronto sits at 500 with a 2-2 record after dropping their home opener to Boston last night after coming out of the gates with an early 2 run lead. They are currently up 3-1 in the bottom of the 6th against Boston in the 2nd of 3 games but are looking pretty good and can definitely play with the better teams with a deep bullpen and some power hitters.

I'm particularly impressed with Brett Lawrie so far and expect big things from this guy this season.

If you are a Blue Jays fan, here is a link of their roster.

It's funny, I just mention Lawrie and he comes up with none out in the 6th and hits a single to put a man in scoring position on 3rd as well as stealing second to take away the easy double play. Toronto could break it wide open here and Boston just walked a man to load the bases with none out.

Beautiful, just like playoff ball, Toronto drives in 2 on a 2 run single to center field with 2 on base with men on 1st and 3rd. Just tagged another one with a single to deep left and an RBI with none out ... 6-1 Toronto.

Edwin Encarnacion just knocked the leather off the ball and ripped one out of the park and it hasn't landed yet but has been seen over Detroit by radar.

7-1 TO in the 8th.

That version definitely brings back some great memories. I was just trying to be nice by using the shortest one I could find and love any version of the HNIC theme song.
