Went out with a friend of mine to dinner at 6:30; met up, but he was not feeling too well.

Nothing------I mean NOTHING was happening----place in town was stone cold dead.

He excused himself and here I am home by 7:45 on Saturday night.

It's been more than a week since I wrapped up my last project and I am still essentially "floating".

Sometimes it feels like depression; kind of a 'post-scribere syndrom'. I have an idea of where I am going next, but I need to kick myself in the ass and I haven't done that yet....

Well, it is a couple of weeks since I moved and things are starting to get into ship-shape (if I only knew where to put the fo'castle).

So, last night I went out with friends about 8:00 and did not get home until a touch past 2:00 AM. Great time, slept about 3 hours and got a good amount of work done today.

Howwwwwwever, went out again tonight to eat, had a couple of drinks, and here it is, 9:30, I'm home and I feel beat. Too early to go to bed, but I actually feel like it.

It's age. It seems like I can't take 2 nights in a row anymore.....

In the last 20 years my sleeping patterns have really changed.

From going to bed @ mid-night and getting up at 8am..
to going to bed at 8 to 9pm and getting up at 5am
not sure if it is age or just a changed lifestyle...

I noticed drinking and partying started changing around age 45.
I could handle it less as I got older..
Now at 63 more than a few drinks at night and I feel like shit the next day.
My body just will not process the alcohol as it once did.

I keep remembering something a bartender told me once about booze...

"This shit was invented to sell, not to drink".

I've gotten by on about 4 hours sleep a night for.....well, almost ever, since I was a kid. The change in my sleeping patterns, just over the past six months, though, see me getting tired earlier in the evening, but if I go to bed at 10:30 or 11:00, I'll be awake at 2:30 or 3:00 in the morning anyway. The result is that I force myself to stay up a couple of hours past the point of my getting sleepy, just so I don't get up before 4:30 or 5:00 AM.....the problem has become that I can't get as much work done when I am drowsy.

I just remembered when I was around 40 I started doing something we called a "Power Nap" back then, before you start laughing google it and see what you get...

But if I was wore out in mid afternoon..I would shut the door to my office stop calls for 30 min and crank back in my chair clear my brain and rest...

I know a couple of people who do that and it works for them. I also had a girlfriend once who could go into a deep sleep for literally 5 to 7 minutes, 2 or 3 times a day and wake up ready and raring to go.

Me? If I sleep for 30 minutes to an hour, I wake up and feel like shit. No, scratch that. Shit can be useful. I am useless if I take naps.

I am OK after about 3 hours, but not much less. Also, if I sleep for much more than 5 hours at a time, I feel more tired than if I slept 3 or 4.

I cat-nap a lot (whenever I get the opportunity) - I have the best part of an hour's commute on the bus each way to and from work, so I tend to doze then, and often have "Forty winks" in an armchair during the afternoon if I have a day off.

Like Ump though, I try to keep myself up for an hour or two after I begin to feel tired each night, so that I sleep soundly until the alarm goes off.
The trick is getting it right, so that one gets enough sleep by staying up, and doesn't deprive oneself of rest.

I have had issues with my sleep pattern for the last few years, before that I would go to bed around midnight, wake once for toilet duties around 3 am and then waken fully around 6 am. These days sleep seems to hit me at odd hours, luckily I am in a position where it does not matter if I have a quick forty winks whenever.

It just struck me that I DID occasionally take naps during the day, for 30 or maybe 45 minutes and awoke fully up.

Of course, I refer to long sex sessions during the day when, at times my partner and I would cuddle and doze off. When that happened, I rarely slept as much as an hour, but when I woke up, rather than feeling like shit, I felt like licking pussy again.

I would bet that happened at least 100 times (though not at all during the past.....7 years, I would say), but my deteriorating brain forgot all about it.

Yesterday afternoon, I just happened to see a video of one of my ex-girlfriends on-line (no, not a sex video, you pervs! Just an informational video) and it got me to thinking along a certain line.

Now, I have not seen her in over 7 years at this point and she has since married and has 3 small children already. Over the 5 years we dated, off-and-on, she was extremely hot and extremely sexy. (I'm not going to say which one she is, but I have "examples" of what she looked like in my "MODELS WHO RESEMBLE WOMEN I'VE KNOWN" thread).

In this video, she doesn't look awful, by any means, but she looks bedraggled and somewhat zombie-like. Her hair is fairly limp, her eyes are shadowed and hollow-looking and her skin is a bit pasty. Her good-looks are still there, but she just looks worn out.

So, here is what I was thinking (and the one of the bases of this is that I loved her, and, in fact still do):

Had we stayed together, married and had three kids, would the combination of love and being there for BOTH of our changes, getting older, make her look the same in my eyes, rather than looking somewhat haggard, OR did she always really look more the way she does now, but being in her presence and loving her personality and vivaciousness make her look better physically in my eyes than she really did???

From the 'physical' sense, I suppose this is a kind of "is love blind' question......

I just did a quick 'file check' of a kind and sighed. About 30 of the members who used to regularly post in my threads are gone.....many of them long gone and another 15 or 16 are rarely here anymore.

It seems that an inordinate number of new members are here for a week and are then gone and it is pointless to try and start XNXX friendships with them.

I continuously get friendship requests from members with 6 or 7 posts, they get up to 10 or 12 and then disappear for good.

Time marches on.

I too years ago saw a College Sweetheart I had even been engaged to. My parents died and I broke the engagement to raise two sisters.

When I saw here 10 years later at a Sunday lunch at a Country Club, she had 3 kids, married to a rich man but my thoughts after seeing her, were, glad we did not get married....

...then never make it to 10 posts.

I think the 4 months of getting Malware warnings here did not help much but it is more than that.

I see what you are saying, Randy. I've seen former girlfriends, years later, who I thought "holy shit! I'm glad that relationship did not last!", but not this one that I was referring to. I would have married her then, if she was ready, but the relationship was like a yo-yo and I eventually broke it off. Reluctantly, but I broke it off. I have not necessarily regretted it, but I was thinking more about the fact that if WE were married and had three kids, would I think she still looked worn out now? This is based on the image I still have in my mind of her from 7 to about 13 years ago now, when she was 22 to 27 years old. Heck, I look older (and probably more worn out) than I did when I was 35.

If you are in a long term relationship, it's far more of a surprise to see photos of our partners from 10, 20, 30 years ago than it is to see an old flame and how they have changed over time. The change is imperceptible, and you go through it together.

In our minds, people have a tendency to remain the same as they were when we met them, or over the first few years of getting to know them. My wife and I became an "item" when she was 21, I was 34, she was a wisp of feminine charm, with a stubborn streak a mile wide, but lordy was she beautiful. We were married at 25 & 38, some 36 years ago, but it seems like yesterday.

There is no perfect answer for the latter. Generally, if you are around them regularly as an adult and they are "only" a generation older AND they've asked you to call them by their first names, you could probably get used to it (say, at 30, someone 50-55 says, 'oh, call me Janice', you might get used to it). However, I think it is more difficult the greater the age difference is. If you are 30 and someone 70-75 says 'You can call me Hortense', it might be near impossible (especially if it is a guy!)

Taking it a little sideways from age difference to parenthood - I have always called my parents Mum and Dad, but my partner always called his by their first names. Consequently, our children called me Mum, Mummy, Mother etc, but their father always by his first name - which at times made people think he wasn't their biological father. Now it feels a little strange being called Mummy by two young men in their twenties - but even more weird for them to use my name

So I got home about 30 minutes ago after being out pretty much all day and having a large turkey dinner.

My plan was to come here for maybe an hour and then get a glass of wine and watch a movie or two.

I got changed, put on an old sweatshirt and a pair of lounging pants and.....

(disclaimer #1: they've been washed before putting them away last Spring.....)


.....and.....as I sat down at the computer, my hand moved to tug down my sweatshirt and I felt something. I further felt and then pulled, from the crotch of the lounging pants, a long, strawberry blond hair.....

.....and my heart sank a bit.

I have not seen her since before last Christmas.

This is something of a cruel joke......
