MAYBE (and only maybe) tomorrow. The trouble is I generally don't get home from work until 6:00 or later. It takes me 60-90 minutes to transform (getting rid of 5:00 shadow, camoflaging eyebrows, putting on makeup, which I'm still slow at, etc.). If I want to "up the ante" by actually going shopping, which is the next, it's a 30-40 minute drive to stores where I'm relatively safe from bumping into a neighbor or relative. That doesn't leave much time until the stores start closing and it's time for the drive home. As much as I enjoy being Suzy, it's just too much hassle for that short of an experience. Tomorrow I will be out of the office working on something, so maybe I can just not go back to the office when I'm done and have an extra hour or two, which would make it doable (and make me doable, too ).

OK, for those following the growth of Suzy, the adventure continues. I was able to get out of work early enough yesterday to dress and go out. Adopting one of the suggestions above, I started at Walmart. However, the one I chose was in the middle of remodeling and was a dump, so I didn't stay long--once around the store convinced me it wasn't the place for me. From there I moved on to Target, which was much nicer. With my wig, makeup and sunglasses, I'm not sure she would have recognized me anyhow, but it's nice not to have to find out.

On the whole, the evening was very reassuring: in two hours of strolling, I didn't receive one odd look. Everyone (including the store clerks) simply acted as though I were any other woman walking around in a miniskirt. If my feet hadn't been aching, I would have considered taking another step. Instead, i put that off until tonight. I actually dressed and drove to a mall, thinking that was the logical next step. Unfortunately, just as I arrived, a huge rainstorm hit. I tried to wait it out, but it just hung on, raining so hard that I'd have been soaked by the time I reached the mall door. Since I didn't want to enter a wet T-shirt contest, I gave up and drove backhome.
