Default Taboo Beauty

I was watching a show from the National Geographic Channel, and this episode concerned people who go to "extremes" for beauty.

A girl had her legs broken and lengthened just to add one inch of height.

She was 5' 3".

The surgeon compared it to pregnancy and birthing. It comes with great pain, but there is great joy afterwards.

I wanted to cry, seeing someone so unhappy with their body image, they'd hurt themselves to change something most people won't even visibly notice.

Should people suffering from BDD (body dysmorphic disorder) even be allowed to undergo cosmetic surgeries?? I think professionals should step in and help them...not complicate their disorder by giving them what they think they need.

If I had that done to reach 5'4", I'd have to add 3 inches! I think I'd still be able to bite kneecaps though...

Oh I know what you are talking about. That procedure seems awful, yet I have to admit I find it interesting.

I think anyone has the right to modify their body how they want to. However, I also think it is important for cosmetic surgeons to be aware of warning signs of thing like BDD or cosmetic surgery addiction.

There are plenty of doctors that will turn people away for having to much work done, but then again there are just as many that will say fuck the risk and take the dollars instead.

That to me is just as sad.

Personally, I am repulsed by the idea that one would surgically alter their body like that. But I think it's their right to do so. I feel the same way about breast enhancement surgery as I do about leg extension surgery.

However, people do far worse things to their bodies than this. I knew a professional bull rider who broke just about every bone in his body that could be broken. I also have a friend who used to race dirt bikes competitively. Once he spent 4 months in traction after a crash, and once he spent 2 months in traction after breaking several bones.

So as kooky as this is, having your bones broken by a doctor, in a hospital, isn't such a bad way to do it. Of course, not breaking your bones at all is a pretty good choice too.

What you are talking about is different than what the OP is talking about.
People who usually get the height enhancing surgery are doing it for cosmetic reasons.

People with BDD who abuse plastic surgery do so because they feel there is something physically wrong with them... What you are describing just seems like accidents occurring from fun.

Yes, but I bet those people you knew weren't doing it for beauty, McDick. Lol.

On a side note, PushUpBra89, I am now craving a pizza after reading your signature!

5'3" isnt short for a woman. wtf was this idiot thinking? Never mind the fact that men tend to prefer shorter women. Isnt this supposed to be about impressing men?

From the stories I have seen [ I've seen different documentaries that include this] it seems to be common in the Asian culture. I watched one about a young man who got it done because in his culture successful men were tall and strapping.. Taller men have more advantages ect.. ect..

Taller men without a limp might have more advantages. Men who haven't spent ridiculous amount of money and endured permanent disfiguring and possibly dangerous surgery with the idea that changing how they look changes who they are might have more advantages. I'm not sure that living a lie is the way to go.

Some plastic surgery is miraculous. It's amazing to see what can be done to repair some of the damage done by cancer, or burns, or other trauma. Even a nose job or jaw extension, when those procedures serve to make a person look more normal can make sense, and the oral surgery may improve a person's ability to bite and chew their food.

Plastic surgery may be almost required for some jobs in today's culture. News anchormen and women look better as they age without bags under their eyes and with only one chin. That's vanity, but it's also career survival.

I really don't understand breast implants, collagen implants in lips, or extreme piercings and tattoos. Sometimes, we confuse surface beauty with worth as a person.

Default Hell, women do it to their tits every day

They feel so much better afterwards, even though it ups their chances of cancer.
