Once you make up your mind that you won't smoke anymore, it's not as hard as you think. In most cases people have no confidence they can quit and the most they can expect is to see how many days they can go before they throw in the towel.

I smoked for 30 years, gave it up 11 years ago. @silverhammer - I was like you. Afraid I wouldn't be able to stick with it. Every morning I said, I choose not to smoke today. After 3 months, I finally said I quit smoking. Cold turkey - never went back.

You can do this. It's like they say, one day at a time.

By the same argument all drivers are putting us in danger due to exhaust fumes. Going to ban cars as well?

mmm..... inner debeat. I'm looking at my father right now who is an ex-smoker knowing that he is drowning in his own lung fluid. But then I think of the bf who is a smoker and am very glad that he don't smoke in the car and that he chews the shit out of airways gum so his breath don't stink but at the same time after a fag sometimes you don't wanna be anywhere near his mouth, and his clothes don't stink either so yay. lol. But then as an asthmatic myself his smoking is a worry but at the end of the day it is still my decision to be around him when he smokes but at least he doesn't puff in my face, and though I kow it is putting my own health in danger at least it is outside unlike the old baby sitter were being a child and inside neither did I know better or have a choice. And after so many years it has been become apart of who he is. And at the end of the day there is worse out there then smokers.

EDMONTON -- The days of smoking and driving when there's a kid in the car are numbered.In a rare move Monday, all parties rallied together to pass Liberal Leader Raj Sherman's Bill 203 to protect children from secondhand smoke in vehicles.

The government has amended the bill so that instead of coming into force Jan. 1, 2013, it proposed it will become law only on "proclamation" -- that is, when the government chooses.
