Am I alone in hating tattoos?

It seems like 99% of all the nude photos I see online now-a-days the women or girls have tattoos all over them. Piercings too! I guess I am from another time but I find the sight of these on women .. well.. disgusting. I wonder how the world changed so much so fast? I can clearly recall when I was in my 20's the only women you'd see with tattoos were sleazy strippers and biker chicks and if you asked 95% of the female population they would get a disgusted look on their face and say they looked trashy and slutty and cheap. How did it go from that to, "I think it looks good!" ??? Same for the nose rings, tongue rings, bolts thru the face, etc.

In short, some tats are tribal markings used as a means of recognising people of the same tribe, others are done to show that the wearer is a rebel and an individual and not one of the society sheep.
What you have to remember is that a tat is for life and when the wearer is 80 she will still have angel wings on her back, they will just be wrinkly.

I like tattoos and I've seen some beautiful ones. I don't have any myself but I'm glad that they're more commonplace now and that if I wanted ink then I needn't hesitate to get it.

Not hate, but I do think to excess it is unattractive. My biggest instant dislike is facial piercings, though. I have yet to see any that don't make me stare, and I just don't see them as improving the appearance IMO.

As a general rule I would agree that females should be free from tats and piercings.

To have such blemishes makes one a skank that JoeD has no desire to bang.

I like looking at well-done, colorful tattoos. On some people, their tattoos are the story of their life or a glimpse into their soul. But I don't like having to look at them more than once.

I don't find piercings attractive either. But I've been pierced 20+ times. I was once a sucker for needles.

Ummmmm I was a stripper at 20 and let me tell you I was NO sleazy one at that.....I got my first tattoo and piercing many years later.

Hate tatoos? Yes I dislike tye models who all seem to have tatoos. Like tgere would be a girl all dolled up like a just 18 schoolgirl and qhen she'd strip there's like ten goth tatoos. Takes the fun away.

Do I hate tattoos? In general, no, as each person has their own choices as to what to do with their bodies; for good or for bad.

Personally I will not have one, by choice here, and the same with any form of body piercings.

If someone is going to have a tattoo though; I wish they would take the time to have it done in good taste, which is of course, subject to the interpretation of each person.

I frankly think that when people are young they are trying to display their nonconformist, anti establishment rebelious side. Guys are trying to look tough and girls are trying to shed the "sweet girl" image and trying to be considered "real" women instead of girls.

In the end, most people have to go to great lengths to explain why their tats have "meaning" and how they have some emotional connection to them or...they simply go to one of the many, very lucrative and extremely busy businesses that specialize in tattoo removal and spend a pile of money to erase their youthful mistakes. Unlike virginity and the pictures of banging twelve guys in a college dorm that accidentaly got posted on the internet and will never go away, tattoos can be reversed for the most part.

There are even companies that are experimenting with inks that were designed to lend themselves to easy tattoo removal now. Sort of like dry erase markers for a white board. When the fun wears off and you dont want to have to explain to a potential spouse how much you partied back in the day, you have the option of erasing the evidence and telling the guy who just asked you to marry him that the pictures he saw on the internet werent realy you since she has tats and you dont.

Sorry...Im not much of a fan of tattoos either. One or two small ones is one thing. Sleves and the whole back screams "yes, I did the whole dorm freshman year, worked as a stripper to pay for school and slept with all my professors in order to graduate." I dont mean to hurt anyones feelings but I have seen too many people make excuses for them when in their heart of hearts they wish they hadnt done it.

I don't mind tattoo's when they are very well done up. Sometimes tattoo's just don't look good where the person wanted them because they maybe too large or too small or maybe even the meaning behind it. Just an example for the last point, like when a mom gets a tramp stamp with her child's name. That does not look good at all IMO. The worst thing about that is not all of the mothers who have done that are not trashy. That just picked a very bad spot for that tattoo.

I've always liked tattoos that are done well. I've also been a "biker chic" for a long time.
Yes, tats on women are pretty common place, in the here and now, but this is what I see:
Too many people at a very young age, getting inked, with very little thought behind what they're putting on their skin, and where; they seem to just get them to be "cool".
I actually drew my design out on transparent foil and used spirit gum to attach it and wore it for several weeks, in different spots, until I decided that I wanted to have it for the rest of my life and where I wanted it to be.

There are ink junkies out there, that love that rush, the endorphines drenching your system after your first ten to 15 minutes of pain (depending on the needle size) and can't wait to get more. It's a little addicting, I understand that, but before you rush out to get MORE, think about your ink a little bit longer than half an hour. A unique tat is much more attractive than standard flash, you can pick out of a book (imo). They should be "enhancements"...and what you think is cool or funny in your 20's, can become (as the OP stated) disgusting, not only as your skin ages, but as your mind matures....

Piercings are a whole different ball of wax...some..I find incredibly sexy...others (as the guys in tim's post) are just WRONG

Personally, I find piercings and tattoos unattractive no matter how well they are done; they're just not my thing. Even pierced ears don't add anything for me, although thet aren't a turn-off either. Otherwise, I much prefer girls that agree the female body is really too nice to look at for any additions to improve it.
However, I totally respect the views of those that disagree with me on this. If you really want heavy tattoos or piercings, my opinion is totally irrelevant; unless we're together, in which case my own opinion of such decorations would prevent me from finding you especially attractive even if you were otherwise perfect.

I don't like piercings other than plain old pierced ears. I DO NOT like gauges and don't see the point of them. As for tattoos, I'm in my 50's and it was considered low class for males or females when I was young. The only acceptable tats were those that men got in the military. I have a brother who got several back when he was doing drugs. He didn't pay enough to get good work done, so now he has several ugly tattoos FOR LIFE!

I've seen beautiful work, but as you age the edges become blurry and the colors fade. If you aren't willing to maintain them and get them touched up every few years even the best work looks bad after a while. I was tempted to get one once but the thought of being an old lady someday with a tattoo on her withered skin just grosses me out. Nursing home workers are going to see some ugly tramp stamps when they change the old ladies' Depends in 50 years.

There are other forms of body art that are realy cool and dont come with the possibility of tying to explain why you have a tattoo that looks "exactly like the one a girl I saw in a porn film being gang banged by migets had." That could end up being a very awkward conversation.





Henna tattoos for example are elaborate, beautiful and not permanent. The result in my mind is that I view it as body art rather than an act of desperation and self mutilation to get back at mommy and daddy for not getting her a pony when she was six. They are very popular in asia, especialy India and generaly look realy cool and require a great deal of skill to apply properly. But again...it lacks the permanent "I hate my life and want the world to know it" angle of a permanent tattoo. And you can get them again and again which means when you get tired of one you can get something else and they dont clash. There are also colored dyes that can be had to do the same thing with more color options since henna tends to be monochromatic.

And just think of the up side! You could sit around with your girl friends and do eachothers nails, hair AND tattoos and nobody has to worry about getting a tat from a disreputable business that also gives you hepatitis C to go with your new ink.

It's customary at Indians weddings that they have a henna artist and all the ladies get their hands done. Ladies who have lost their hair from chemotherapy are getting henna "crowns" now. I think they're really cool. I've seen women get henna designs on their pregnant bellies too.

I don't think tattoos are disgusting. I like them on guys and I think some are totally sexy. As for the ones on girls- I don't think there's anything wrong with them but I'm a little biased.
