Default Avast Bullshit

Alright so starting a couple of days ago, Avast (my anti-virus program) started warning me that it blocked a site with malware. Cool, right? Well it was the forum.

Then, every time I opened a page from the forum, I would get a warning. I learned to ignore the warnings, since it blocked the malware but still let me access the forum.

Now, Avast isn't letting me access the site at all! wtf! (I'm posting from my phone).

I saw another thread like this, but they had Norton, which usually sucks. I guess I expected more from Avast...?

I just can't be the only person with Avast on this forum. Should I try another AV? Why did I get to access the forum so long and NOW it's acting up?

Any ideas? I think just need to re-install the whole OS and get a new Anti-Virus... so much work...

What happens here is that the Anti-Virus Companies receive comments and warnings about sites from users.

You can get 20 positive responses ("XNXX is great", "XNXX is safe", "No problems with XNXX"), but, at the same time you get 2 negative responses (because someone was re-directed to a different site when watching a video "XNXX is DAngerous! They re-direct you!!!" or some disgruntled shit is pissed because so many people visit XNXX and not THEIR site and lies "XNXX links toi dangerous virus!"), the Anti-Virus Company will put up a warning block on the site, telling visitors that it isn't safe.

But they don't let me access it at all!
I feel like it's something wrong with my AV not that there's actually malware.

Because this morning I jumped on the site and it let me go to it, then once I started opening threads, they started blocking the pages from loading and now I can't get on the forum at all.

fawk it.

Thanks Umpire... maybe I'll look for another AV that hasn't gotten bad reviews from the forum

this viewer jealousy syndrome happened with me on a site called uni.me. they are comparatively new and a few folks reported them. they sent me a request via email to give a positive. i checked everything and gave it, and so far these folks have lived up to the rating i gave them.

avast is causing problems for me too. switch to zonealarm if you want a good customizable anti virus or mcafee if you want a crappy one.

People speak praises of Avast but I haven't had any luck with it.

I have Microsoft Security Essentials and in the past have used Eset AntiVirus. I also have a script blocker and WOT installed. I also recommend the McAfee Site Advisor if you don't want to use WOT. Both are decent programs.

People will rate a site based on its 'child safety' and whether it is 'safe for work', too. If they can't browse it in either situation, they'll give (xnxx, or any site) a thumbs down and lower its overall standing. With enough of these votes and the types Umpire2 alluded to, your antivirus will deny you access.

Do you have the free version of Avast? I do, and I got the same warning. It's a bogus warning to get you to BUY the paid version of Avast.

I'm subscribed to AVG and have been for a few years. I generally have had no problems with viruses, although the bannertrack script was a problem. Now I use ASC as well and that seemed to clear it up. I also downloaded Stopscript but although it's done well for me, it's a little irritating and not for an absolute amateur. With clear instructions on how to use it I just about managed to install it properly but only on Chrome, I haven't added it to Firefox or IE.

Thanks to everyone who replied.

I thought about getting the unlimited license AV that my University offers (Sophos), but now I'm thinking of getting the Microsoft Security Essentials.

I'm not sure what WOT is but I'll read up on it.

Also, yes I have the free version of Avast. I never thought they would be so stupid as to prevent me from accessing a website at all just to buy their program. It's obviously just making me look elsewhere for internet security. Dumbasses.

As for AVG, I once had it and never had a problem with it. But someone once said it sucked so bad it was like not having AV at all. haha And a few others agreed. So idk.

I just finished a complete scan on my computer using Avast and I'll uninstall it now to install the Microsoft one. Hopefully it fixes the problem. I'm horny as hell and I just wanna get on this website! haha

I suggested MSE because it's free and I've had it for almost two years without a problem.

WOT tells you how a site is rated. If it truly isn't trusted, you'll be warned as to whether you'd like to visit it. It doesn't block you out completely. It is optional. The McAfee site advisor works in much the same way.

I'M BACK AND I'M READY TO RUUMMMBBLEEE (haha :P)

I downloaded MSE and so far, so good :P
I used to have McAfee site advisor but it got annoying for some reason. I like simplicity without all the extra add-ons and shit.

Thank you and everyone who replied! You guys are awesome! And without you I wouldn't be sitting here touching myself in naughty places! :P Much love!

As long as you let MSE scan your computer daily, you'll be fine

I'm glad we could help you

Damn, I was hoping for a Kaspersky convert, I am on a commission.

I would download Advanced System Care and IObit malware fighter, they both run in the background and will warn you when a scan is needed.

Web of Trust (WOT) is a run quiet site assessor with input from all users, you can give a site positive or negative reviews on all the major categories, but as it is user reviews some can biased, the warning gives you the choice of ignoring or advancing into the site but also gives you the option of reading the reviews. I would recommend it.

So I had never heard of Kaspersky and that's why I didn't immediately go for it. Someone IRL suggested MSE and that's why I decided to go for it. But if it doesn't work out for me, I'll look into other stuff.

After having this issue with Avast due to user's butt chapped reviews, I'm not sure if I want more programs that run similarly. I'm not crossing it off completely but I'd rather have something unbiased.

Why can't they just scan the site themselves if they get a flag and then make a decision from there? Basing it purely off users is rather dumb. Cuz then I'm sure I'd get a million warning signs every time I go to TPB or KAT; from which I've never actually gotten a virus. If anything, the people I trust the most are on these sites. haha

Btw, I went to this thread. Thanks for sharing it.

I feel so out of touch with my computer. I guess that's how technology is, you just can't leave it for a second before you need to do something else to upgrade it. I'll see about downloading these adblocks and script blockers.

Merci!

There is no such thing as a program that will appeal to all tastes. Avast is proactive with it's definitions with the help of all users that have suspect sites submitted to the Avast Lab for definition updates to keep us all protected and there is a simple fix for those that want to actually open their anti-virus and see wtf they have on their computer in the first place.

Simply click the Avast ball and open it. On the left side of the page there is a list of options ... go to the real time shields and click it and then go to the web shields section and you have a couple choices there. If you like to live on the edge, disable the web shield option (which I only recommend if you are the type of person that has unprotected sex with strangers) and you will be allowed on this site but still get other warnings that you can ignore as the network shield is still active even though the web shield is disabled and you can also set the "actions" setting to ask you if you want to connect instead of it simply denying a connection. There are many more settings available to make you a happy porn surfer without blasting the shit out of a good anti-virus program.

That said here is the fix ... in the web shield option, click the exclusions and simply type in the URL of this site including the / and the location (forum) and voila, you now just let Avast know that you want to get on here and they won't bother you any longer.

I am a tad biased as I consult for Avast and help with the definition updates as well as anti-virus updates periodically. Avast is a bit overzealous about their "pro" or business pro" versions but only wants you to have the best possible protection available and as such when they give those annoying upgrade pop-ups, you are free to say no and continue with the free version if that is "your" choice but they like to ask (a bit to often, lol).

MSE is a good anti-virus as well as was said here (as are others as well) but don't discount your current one until you can with all certainty rule out having to say "I didn't know that you could do that with this anti-virus program.

I actually did that before uninstalling it and it didn't work. I put this site as an exception and it still didn't allow me to get access. I also made it so that it would ASK me what to do next if it found malware when entering a site and when the question came up, it only allowed me to abort connection, not to continue anyway. I discounted my current AV (Avast) because it's their way or the highway. So I took the mothafuckin highway haha So yes, I DID know I could do that with this antivirus.

And yes, I'm less likely to listen to you if you work for the company. I know it should be the other way around but I mean, you work for Satan himself. haha Thank you for your help nonetheless, I switched over though

I don't work for them but I test viruses and actually go into "the lions den" looking for them for many sites and advise how to block/avoid them.

I also said that there are other good free anti-virus programs out there to switch too if necessary and I have no loyalty to them or anyone else ... other than porn surfers that just want to "bust a nut" or "squirt one off" safely.

I won't argue with you that you may have overlooked something and if you say that you tried, I will take that at face value and wish you good luck with your personal choice of program, but it worked when I did it on mine.

I can say that if you disable (uncheck) your web shield, you WILL be allowed on here. It is the same as disabling Avast completely for 10 minutes, 1 hour, til next reboot or permanently.

Ok ok... I apologize for thinking you do Satan's work. Yeah I was pretty happy with Avast for a while but the fact that it would even block me from my favorite porn site is just unforgivable! haha

I didn't actually disable Avast because I feel that's too dangerous and there wouldn't be any point in having it if I have to disable it when I want to surf the web.

I'll be using Microsoft Security Essentials, so I hope that works well.

I have MSE as well that I use periodically when I disable my Avast to allow viruses into my computer for analysis and MSE isn't as strong but is still effective for the most part. You don't need to disable the whole anti-virus, just the web shield and the network shield stays on, which is the part that caught the "ultra-ping" malware.

As long as you are "letting your fingers do the walking", I am happy for you.

PS ... I always left it up to my ex to do "the devils handywork", lol.

Thanks everybody. I was having the same problem and couldn't figure out why. Bye, bye Avast...hello MSE. So far everything is running smoothly. Boy, that was a rough couple of days.

If anything, the people I trust the most are on these sites. haha
I was only ribbing you with my indignant post above, you use what you are comfortable with, I tried MSE, money was a little tight and MSE is free, but found it rather lightweight plus it is a microsoft product, Kaspersky is perfect for me, it does most of the work without me seeing any pop up menus and is a good antivirus. I did use AVG for a while but found it went from being sleek and fast to clunky and slow, I had the same issue with Avast. McAffee and Norton I found pretty useless so I went back to Kaspersky. I honestly believe it is one of the top 3 protection systems, and when combined with ASC and IObit malware fighter it seems to stop everything. It may be a little heavyweight but it is great.

I had also tried the Exclusions with Avast and it didn't work for me only for the home page of the forum. But when I clicked on a forum section it I couldn't get in.

I have been going through erotti.com to get the forum these last couple of days. Here is my thread about that.
