I sure agree with you for the most part Richie, but there are times (over here at least) that the authorities are dead set that THIS is the guy that did it, and they start reading into things and making puzzle pieces fit. There have only been 292 DNA exonerations to date, but I suppose if you were one of those 292 the authorities "making puzzle pieces fit" was a real drag.

I see no way of stopping them listening in, they will do it with permission or not, maybe that is why my phone sits by my TV switched off, I doubt they can track it as it is over 15 years old.

That is why they use them, but I guess there are plans in the pipeline to make them registered at point of sale.

criminals here use fake SIM cards, ones that aren't registered to anybody real. since they aren't registered, the police are virtually at a loss to find which phone to track. and from what i hear, these days they don't even use codes, just plainspeak, so they're even more of a needle in the haystack.
