I'm just curious, isnt it important that people who own guns get proper training and a competency test? This guy bought all of his stuf within the last two weeks. I think people should be able to own guns, but there should be a test that you need to pass. If you are fucking crazy you cant have one!

I've never used a machete on a person, but a duel with machetes would be far more interesting than a duel with guns. The up-close-and-personal-hacking-chunks out of one's opponent appeals to me. Swords cut, but machetes hack. I like the idea of putting my energy into finishing off my dueling opponent with brute strength rather than merely pulling a trigger. Single action revolvers at 20 paces would be fine for me as well. I hit what I aim at when I point a gun. I always have.

To get a CCW, states have a class you have to go to and pass. To just buy a weapon some states like Ohio do a back ground check if you buy from a dealer. But not from a private owner.

first off I am an avid gun owner and shooter and this is what I wrote on another forum in response of this. kind of a rant but it is what it is. It's been an emotional day since I had friends that went to midnight premiers and I didn't know which theater they went to. Luckily they all went to different ones. My thoughts and prayers do go out to the families and those affected directly by this tragedy and may those who's lives are lost rest in peace.

I've been following this damn thing since yesterday morning when I woke up at 630. Between switching from online and TV news no one will know what the hell possessed holmes to do what he did until he gives a statement that either him or the police are willing to share. But none of that really matters cause the media is going to spin it any way they want and so will the anti-gun lobbyist. Guns are nothing more then inanimate objects, does owning a lighter make me an arsonist or a knife a slasher? No it all comes down to the person's intentions and morals.

This was a sick and twisted individual that acted on his own and should pay for what he's done. One thing I can say is thank god his apartment diversion did not work cause if that went as planned imagine how many more lives would have been lost. The local media and police department is bragging about how they where on the scene 90 seconds and the shooting only lasted 2 minutes. Like many have said and I'm also surprise that there was not one person there that had a conceal carry that possibly could have changed the outcome and possibly have saved more lives even within 30 seconds into the shooting. There are many incidences where this has happened and numerous lives have been saved. The news reported that he had soft body armor on and from personal experience when you get hit even with body armor on you'll notice it and it might have changed his mind of continuing if this happened, I highly doubt it though.

To the news anchors, governors, and anti-gun people that said that people that carrying and engaged would have made it worse have never talked to one good samaritan that has put their life in harms to way to protect another human and realize that an individual can actually connect the dots fairly quickly. I have put my life on the line to save another human being and I'll do it again with out hesitation, I'm not going to stand here and say "well if I was there I would have shot the guy in the head and been a hero." People who say that have no clue what it is like to rush into something they have no clue what it's like to deal with chaos, nor what evil people are capable of. I will not fear evil people, but evil people do evil things, and you need to know when dealing with them what possibly could go wrong and be willing to accept the worst either at the cost of your own life or by taking another person's.

Sorry for the long post and if it's all over the place but following this all day is just sickening and the media is not making it any better.

My personal feeling about, the shooter that attacked the movie goers is he should have been shot. Shy was making a point that if someone at the movie had been armed, 12 people would not have died. But you can not be armed in a theater, so 12 people died and 59 got wounded. I agree with Shy.

This is one of those events that makes people in the hood or in any kind of place where you can get shot by saying the wrong thing to the wrong person glad they live where they do. To those trying to act like having people carry in the theater would've helped: First of all, how do you propose to kill somebody with an AR-15, a shotgun, gas canisters, and who is bulletproofed from head to toe? Secondly, it is your very gun culture that caused this shit. A douchebag thinks he has every right to have a military arsenal. He then starts thinking he has every right to use that arsenal on innocent people. If you all would stop hiding behind your guns and fight like real men, shit like this would not happen. and last i saw it was 14 while i was talking to friends that were there

and colorado does have a concealed and carry permit in place
but they failed to enact a provision that says if the emergency door is opened an alarm sounds and all are evacuatued bill

the shooter entered through the main entrance then acted as if he was answering his cell phone (clue 1) and exited the theater by the fire door and no alarm was raised (clue 2)
at the back of the theater his vehicle was satged with several guns and a full compliment of body armor in a restricted area (clue 3)
then re-entered through the fire door (clue 4) dressed as batman
he then dischared multiple smoke grenades (clue 5) and stood near the fire door and proceeded to fire wildly (clue 6)


he then walked outside and sat clamly in his car in full tac 5 body armor
the idea that he rigged his apartment to blow due to a noise complaint only makes him more guilty of terrorism

this was well planned and very calculated and being that the shooter had avoided all firearm reporting laws on record and in that state (as is in many) stores are not required to report sales, only check that the buyer is legal, the owner is responsible for registration
since as of yet laws state that purchasing 2 firearms in 5 days is illegal and not 5 months is actually appaling
i sell guns and wont sell if i see buys in the last 6 months
and 6000 rounds of ammo??????????????????????? that is a red flag for any reputable seller
perhaps the sellers should me shut down for such bad business practices or maybe lets blame poloticians they will get them anyway

That was what I was thinking about when I read the story just now. If the theater took things like Emergency Exits, restricted zones, etc more seriously then he wouldn't have been able to get back in without alerting everybody to get the hell out. Even put security there if need be.
