I will agree, racism is still a problem, but that vid is not a valid test. Different people will act different. In the second vid you had a Portirican and an Asian lady,not white. Some of the people said it would not of mattered the color. Also too the callers made no racial comments, they did not say black kids were vandalizing the car till they were prompted by the 911officer. Not one of the callers used the word nigger, coon or any other racial slur.

As for the black kids sleeping in the car, I did not see them put 3 white kids sleeping in a car to see what would of happened.

I call BS on ABC.

Yes we do unfortunately have it as well, and what Picx forgot to mention is that his state Western Australia is up there with some of the worst racists.

The US and Oz aren't the only two countries, sadly every country has thier own form of racism.


We also have racial vilification laws in Oz.

I'm not really sure where on Earth you got the data to say that "Western Australia is up there with some of the worst racists". That's a pretty bad generalisation. There is racism virtually everywhere.

Racism is based on fear, fear of the unknown, fear of the different. It's part and parcel with the them and us mentality.

Bigotry can be and is found in every facet of life. People with money look down on people that don't have any. Anything can be look at as a excuse to look down on someone else.

I recall, back in the late 60's this teacher did a great experiment with her Jr. High class. First, she did a survey and one of the questions dealt with how you judge other people. The answers were pretty much; I judge people by their ability, not their skin color, or eye color etc. Remember, this was during the Civil rights movment.

A week or so later, she split the class. Everyone with light hair went on one side of the class. Everyone else went on the other side. She didn't explain why. During class she made it a point to call on the light haired side of the room, and encouraged them and praised them even when they answered questions wrong, and the only time she gave the other side of the room attention was to criticize them for something. She was subtly telling the class that light haired kids were good, and everyone else was not.

By recess on the second day the light haired kids were staying away from the other kids, and they made fun of them much as their teacher had been doing for what was now two days.

What really got my attention though, was that while the light haired kids did the same or better in class participation and behavior, the other kids started displaying behavioral problems and did not participate in class much or at all. The entire class was becoming overtly hostile to each other, based on the color of their hair.

By the end of the week the teacher ended the experiment. She had to. The light haired kids were displaying physically hostile behavior toward the other kids, and the other kids were becoming more and more unruly in class and on the playground.

I wish I could find that teachers name. The story told me all i needed to know about how discrimination effects people, and how even subtle discrimination is harmful. It also taught me that discrimination is a part of daily life, but that ain't necessarily a bad thing. It depends on your basis for discrimination, and understanding why you discriminate.

And, if I could find it, and validate the results, I'd show DL so he'd once and for all understand how his "bell curve thingy" is based on false theory and invalid data that all stems from racism...................

nah, probably not. One of the fall outs from the experiment was that a few light haired kids in the class continued to discriminate against the other kids even after the experiment ended and it was explained to them. And, even after their behavior was pointed out to them when it continued.

Racism exists because the race that is being discriminated against failed to blend in to society. The human race is not complex. If you act different, dress different, want to be treated different you will always be the race that is discriminated against. Think back to your school days, children are basically innocent. Yet they treat the child that wants to different or special with disdain. It's a natural human trait. If you want to be treated the same as everyone else, don't act different than everybody else. For instance John Lennon was a man. He wanted to be called a man. Bill Cosby is a man, he wants to be called a man. Not a white man, not a black man. A man is a man period. He dresses like a man. Nothing special. Things are really getting better, and if my race would stop all this special nonsense, hats on crooked, pants falling off their ass, underwear showing, demanding to be call a African American, the racism would just fade away. I'm an American! Just like my neighbor who happens to be a much lighter shade than I am. He is not a white American, he is not a French American. He is a American, just like I am a American.

Most whites in the United States want to like blacks. We want to like specific blacks. A black person does not need to be a super black, like Sidney Pottier, or a magic Negro. All that is necessary is to behave decently and perform adequately.

I will be so bold as to say that most whites have no problem of any sort with blacks. Whites just do not like "niggers". NOW before you jump all over me I realize in the past those 2 terms applied to the same person or group. But in 2012 as far as whites are concerned a "nigger" is not just any black person but an undesireable sub-group much like you might call undesireable whites, redneck, trailer trash, crack head, biker trash etc for groups you do not like.
