Anonymous "reviews"

I have read a few stories and I noticed that almost every reviewer is listed as "anonymous".... Why?

I read a great story and left a comment using my name. Well N.E. Woman, as my name....you know what I mean.

Are people embarrassed to be reading about some subjects? Is it just "everyone does it so I will too?"

Especially if someone is giving a positive comment, would the writer be more honored by that review if it came from someone willing to put their name on it?

I am in no way a writer, so my hat is off to everyone putting their work out there to be judged. I just think the "anonymous" title gives people the shield to be extra mean, nice, flirty, personal, etc. and say things they might not have if they were forced to be associated with their post.



Note- I tried searching to see if this had been asked before, but I am too lazy to go through 1000+ threads to find it.

I don't know why most people choose to stay anonymous but I don't, for good or bad I have no problem putting my name on my comments.

I think if you feel strongly enough about something to leave a comment then you should have the respect to identify yourself.

I would gather that a lot of the anonymous voters are non-members, unless you visit the forums or write a lot of people don't bother with becomming members. I was a reader and non-member for a year before I joined, which I only did origanally to post my stories.

I do wish more would have names on them so that I could thank them by PM for their comments. I believe good or bad comments help you grow. But such is the way it is I guess.

If a person isn't logged in, being 'anonymous' gives them the ability to still leave comments on a story.

There are people who don't want to own up to their opinions. They love logging their IP when they leave a comment, so they're still traceable with a few minutes of effort.

I leave all of my comments while I'm logged in.

The first part is what I was thinking...... The second part is very interesting, I wonder if the "coward posters" know they can be found?

I always leave my name when commenting on a story. I canyt understand why anyone who reads the stories is worried about leaving a name when commenting. Even if the comments are not positive there is no need to hide. Its not like we are going to retaliate. I have only written two stories and would prefer people comment, good or bad.
