Watched it a couple of times on 5US. Its ok, like formula 1, but in a round circuit. Is amusing when someone cocks up and whips 10 other people out! Not so anyone gets hurt, but takes them out the race.

Sorry. I didnt know anyone in PA who cared about Nascar, so I never got into it. Now that im close to Lowes Speedway, i think im to old to get into it now. Just seems that watching cars go in circles is pointless.

However, to watch finely tuned, highly engineered machines, being operated by athletic, skilled drivers, who are competing for a championship, that's exciting.

I love motor racing of all types, but living in Britain we only get NASCAR late at night, if at all!

The thing I love about NASCAR though is the names, is 'Dick Trickle' still racing?

I grew up eating dirt, my dad raced at local tracks. I started racing go-carts at 8 years old, into my first late model at 15. Bad divorce, and all that stopped.

I watched the first televised Daytona 500 on ABC in 73' (I think it was around there) with my dad. He was a Richard Petty fan. So I've been watching for along while. As of late NASCAR has went down hill. Brian France will, and is, killing this sport. Race for the chase the COT, has left old time fans upset.

I'll still watch, but I'm not happy about it.

You may be right about NASCAR going down hill, but it ain't all Frances fault by a long shot.

Back in the days that you watched it on your daddy's knee, they raced virtually street ready cars. The winner was the best a cheating the rule book and had the most factory backing.

Then the street automobile evolved, front wheel drive, high output/low displacent engines, crumple zones and so on. This was mandated by congress, insurance industry and the american consumer.

Today we have virtually pure racecars, the only thing stock is the engine block, thereain't a piece of sheet metal, frame, transmission, rear-end, fuel tank ,etc. that can be foundon a production automobile. Hell, there isn't a production automobile that has the same block as a NASCAR car.

You and I would be bored to tears if they ran street ready cars out there today AND you wouldn't find a manufacturer who would build one that could compete like they do today.

NASCAR racing grew out of the dirt track mentality many, many years ago. In doing so it took on a life of it's own and costs skyrocketed, to field a competetive car cost over $12 million and it was rising. The COT is an attempt to stabalize those costs, we may not like it, but I doubt that we'd see much of NASCAR in 15 years if they don't do something.

I watched practice, and then talked to my bud in FL. He was at testing, said "outta the back stretch into turn three and out, are a mess". I see Tony still don't like Kurt...LOL

Did you see the article on NASCAR where they said they're going to let the drivers loose a little on the emotional outbursts?

Guess they figure it will help the flagging ratings.
