Just tried out taps on my compact trumpet, going to call funeral homes for gigs playing taps at the va cemetery.

Have the lady's hard drive running on this computer now and scanning with McAfee.

Damn Microsoft anyway.
The drive would run but when you tried to copy it couldn't read the drive.
You got a blue death screen about 90% of the time when you started it as a drive.
running it as the only drive it still did the same things it did on the original computer.
put it all back on the original, lost the button on the a drive, replaced it with an identical of mine which didn't work, so put it back, took the button from that nonworking drive and put it on the old A drive but had to do a lot of fine bendiing with needle nose plyers because the shaft for it got bent when I was working on the computer. Finally go it back together. Checked an extra CDROM drive I had on my #7 and it worked if it was the only CDROM, otherwise nada. and as long as both were connected wdos wouldn't recognize both and the real one wouldn't read discs.

I think there is a secret program in XP that only allows ONE CDROM, even if one is a combo DVD/CDROM. I also think that it will not normally allow a 2nd drive with windows 98 on it most of the time to run.

And then when you have a windows 98 problem the only thing you can do to fix it is reformat, scandisk cant even fix a too long filename, but it toldme while it said that to run scandisk to fix it, brilliant. The owner did not have a 2nd partition so you could reinstall windows without losing everything. Now she is going to waste more money at compuserve or someplace and they still have to format and reinstall losing all her data which I was hoping to avoid

I am now done with computers until I have to again.

Pepboys has had my car to replace power steering hoses since Friday and hasn't called me yet.

Sound like you have hardware no recognizing and possible update your driver. Never had a problem with XP accepting 2 CD Roms or DVD. check your motherboard and check if the wire are connect up probably

Oh yes the wires are fine. I tried another hard drive with W98 on it, and got the same inconsistent results, sometimes blue screen sometimes it shown as drive G but you cant copy from it, it claims it cant read the drive sometimes.
Other times it copies only part of what you want.

I'm through with it now. It would find one excuse after another to not allow you to re-set up her ME on W98, the ME said the W98 wasn't a valid windows but it was the factory installed one.

change operating system to XP professional update a few things it should allow you to work. Do you have another comp at home that you could try out the other HDD if you do test on there to copy things on it and bring it back out. It might the HDD having the problem not your computer

Going to see if XP will install on it, I can add another 48 of memory if needed, on hand, if not, another attempt to copy certain files to my #7 which sometimes let it do that but didn't always copy completely then would say couldn't read the source. If all else fails, format and reinstall an OS, XP. I had already tried on another computer running Win 98 and things just wouldnt work right, but the other comp is OK without that drive attached. Even tried a 2nd drive of my own connected to #7 with XP and it also didn't let #7 recognize my CDROM/DVD drive.

If XP will install without formatting, I may be able to remove Win98.

So the three of us had a nice dinner at the Palace Station with a bottle of wine.

Next Friday I'll be done. Then then I leave on the third in my new Gyro plane for Port Orchard, Washington to spend my 76th birthday with my family.

Looks like I'll run into some weather but I'm an experienced pilot and I have lots of mountain flying experience so I am qualified but some of those mountains have claimed some very good pilots.

Gyro planes are very stable unless for some reason they get cross controlled then a parachute might come in handy.

I got my N numbers today and the painter putt it on today. N69GP.

I am only going to fly daylight hours and then just short hops of a couple of hundred miles. I like to stop and bullshit at little airports also I need to stop more often to pee as I get older.

Worked on the computer from 6:30pm sat to 9:15am sun and copied all the files she wanted to save, installed XP Pro on it, validated it which took two hours because I have had to reinstall the disk so many times due to viruses, or changing computers. Put a cable card in it and just transferred the files from my computer to hers.

Was going to put AOL on it, for the McAfee, then found it that it wasn't free anymore unless you pay for AOL. So after I uninstalled AOL there were still 44 aol files I had to manually delete one at a time.

Took the Gyro for a fuel run. Yesterday. It burns 3.5 gph @ 120 MPH indicated. That will give me an approximate range of 1090 miles on 32 gals of fuel. I'll refuel in Ely while visiting one of my sons. Called him this morning telling him to pitch me a tent.


He'll want me to take him flying but that's going to be hard to do with a single seater. I might take off the rotor and let him taxi it around some. I'll have to take it off anyway to tighten every thing that has vibrated loose. This thing's almost a VTO (vertical take off) with the pre-rotor. Set the breaks, engage the pre-rotor, let the rotor wind up until I get lift and I'm airborne in 30'. Clear 50' in 160'. Take off run is 190' without the pre-rotor. Clear 50' in 320' Not the best but good enough for me.


Anyway I should have most of the bugs worked out of her by the time I get back home barring any accidents. I know it's going to keep me on my toes.

Hi Kenster. It is a 1997 Packard Bell, I have installed XP Pro and everything is working fine, even got it validated. The file transfers, the connection to the internet and my network worked perfectly. Even transferred all the bookmarks so she doesn't have to remake them, but need to hook it up again and delete some of mine and uninstall foxmarks or she will have any new bookmarks from me on her computer. Also she doesn't want a screensaver and I had put one on it.

Just got up at 8pm after sleeping from 10:30am.

She was too tired tonight for me to take it over, and tomorrow we can't either.

And I need to eat something now and maybe dance for a while if the music isn't too loud, it is still AZ ONE I think at the Gold Coast.

So I will be off for a while tonight, or morning tomorrow where yo are Kenster.

WOW im amaze that you got an old Packed Bell comp that i want i used to run as my first comp. Im from Australia pretty much the other side of the world where i Premier Minister just made fun of your current one LOL.

I would suggest you probably looking for external hdd and run off saskey(sorry if the spelling is wrong) cable it might work so you would running more than one HDD at once and run another one a HDD outlet so you could switch back and forth from things.

It isn't mine I fixed it for a friend she only has one, and it does run cable, I networked it with my others. I have an antique Packard Bell Legend that came with a 500mb hard drive, it was my ex's first computer. Three computer guys couldn't fix it, she gave to me and I did. It is only 60mhz so it wont run on cable.

Since I formatted and installed XP it works beautifully, but a little slower than my newer ones, and I managed to copy all her files onto my computer first, then transferred them to hers on my LAN. Took it back to her last night, and she installed her printer on it. Her scanner was made before XP so she will have to get a new driver for it.

She is on earthlink and the earthlink manual says to install the earthlink disk but she says she never had one. I have no clue how dial up earthlink is installed.

What a day. Slept from 8am to 10:15pm. was going to go hottub but they dont allow you in after midnight which it now is.

Guess we will go out to get the breakfast specials at the Suncoast, after we get ready, will be 1:15 at least. That's AM.

She is thinking about putting a second memory strip in it, the one she has is 36mb and it has one more slot. I put a cable card in it so I could network it. She only has a 6gb HDD but she could add another large disk if she wants to. I think she would rather just get a new computer, if she isn't happy with the speed anymore. It is only 333 mHz.

My #1 the Packard Bell Legend is only 60mHz.

Not too unexpected she called me tonight, wailing that she wished I hadn't put XP on, it doesn't have all the nice sounds that ME did, and it doesn't look right, everything is too big. (She unexpectedly paid me $60.00 for my work!). At first she was wanting to remove XP and reinstall 98+ME. Since the disks file system was changed to NTFS not possible with out a complete re-format and changing it back to FAT32.

So I took her through changing things to make it suit her, first to change the default 800x600 to 1024x762, that was a big improvement. Then the display, she said she spent all day selecting the colors. As soon as we changed the front page of display font size they all went to default--DAMN MICROSOFT FOR THAT DESIGN, just because you change the font size selection it should have no reason to change all your font and color selections to the horribly ugly default. So we went back to the colors and changed them and in the process of following her on my computer I defaulted my own.

Then I took her to the internet options and had her set the colors and fonts to what she liked.

After we finished she seemed more satisfied, and I told her she can copy the sounds from her 98 or ME disk into XP, except I think she threw away her 98 disk, but I have a 98SE disk so I can give them to her.

Aside from that I filed for mgr of safety at the power company today, went through a ton of reading I was behind on, went through all my mother's picture albums and found some pics of me at 3 and 4yrs old, also pics of my first love (who my mom practically adopted as another child, and who I am still in contact with via email.) I decided to donate her 1933 high school yearbook to the alumni association archives. Walter Cronkite was in that class and was on the staff of the school newspaper and yearbook.

My student didn't show but since this was a substitute day for the regular one, either they were busy or just forgot, no big deal, they will call and reschedule for Sunday.

I called the metro police tonight about filing criminal charges against the woman who has destroyed my life and livelihood and violated 3 different state statutes in the process. They said just go to the substation and file a complaint with documentation. Next step is will the district attorney BOTHER to prosecute it, I need to find out first, and also confirm that she ORDERED two school that were going to hire me NOT TO HIRE ME (also a violation of state statutes.)

The computer's owner said that she thought 3 or 4 PM tomorrow would be good for our Thanksgiving dinner, so I still have to call my sister tomorrow and see if she is OK with that. One problem is my sister's favorite restaurant for it is out of bounds for the lady's desires, also she is a vegetarian. She said her sons haven't even called her, they seem to treat her very badly, and in one case according to her it is the wife's idea.

So I guess the 4 of us ladies will have afternoon lunch,dinner or whatever today. Seems like Cynthia and me are her only friends, except for my sister,who she has known forever, but hardly sees, since my sis doesn't get along with her as well as we do, and she is calling me everyday.

My other longtime gf hasn't called in 5 days and I forget to call her until it is too late. Such is life I guess.

Hell I've had HDD's die, I have changed batteries on the mother board, except for motherboard faults NOTHING is unrepairable. Of course it does cost money!

Lainie: Well we made it to my son's place in Ely, NV. Roads were good all the way. We will be leaving later today as I want to get to Minden, NV before dark. I have a friend there I haven't seen in 10 years. Will camp in his driveway for the night and head for Susanville, CA in the morning. Where I'll take over the driving. I learned to drive in mountains and bad roads so it's up to me for this task. Sharon can sit in the back of the camper and read or nap as she chooses until we get to I5.


She is OK on the freeway and this little 4 cylinder Diesel will only get to 75MPH wide open. Does nicely at 60 though and so far mileage has been good. 22.4 MPG.


One nice thing about having a camper. It's like having your hotel room with you. Not much room in these Minis though. Have to step out side to change our minds when we are parked.

Made it to my sister's place without any problems. Of course we spent the day going around to some of the old haunts. Drove over to Shelton where we grew up to the old home place. My sister took some pictures but I haven't loaded them into my laptop yet. She likes to play games with pictures so I will have to take the better ones that she hasn't fooled with.


I have been on the go all day. My sister is 73 years old and like me healthy as a horse. I threatened to shoot her in a leg to slow her down. She doesn't seem to realize that I just got off of a 1400 mile trip and haven't had too much rest.


I don't like the bed over the driver's compartment. Sharon likes it so I make up the one in dining area. It's easier to get out of when I have to get up to go pee. Speaking of bed. As soon as I get done with this, I'm going out to the camper for some sleep time.


You seem to have a thing for Pep Boys. Auto Zone---Napa---Car Quest--- and Checker are my choices. I get most of my parts from Auto zone and if they don't have it or it's no longer an item they sell I go to Napa and most of the time between these stores I can get what I am looking for. I took a trip with my exwife in 2005 and for a week she ran me ragged from 7 to 8 everyday going places and looking at things, I needed a vacation when I got back. And she was already in a motor scooter at the time.

I usually buy stuff at Checker, but used Pepboys so I didn't have to do the work. They have had my car for 3 weeks now trying to find a power steering hose. I just realized two days ago I can probably fix the pinhole leak with a hose clamp over it.

Last night had a great time at the Gold Coast from 9:30 to 1:30. Danced from 9:30 to 10;30, Bingo 11-12, Dancing 12 to 12:30.

Two guys danced with me at different times, one of them several times.
The band was a western band Wylie and the Wild West from Billy Bob's in Houston I believe. Here for the National Rodeo Finals, which they do a party for for the next 10 nights at the Gold Coast. Drawings for lots of good stuff, but got there too late for that.

Tonight Front Page is at the Sun Coast and will be there Sat, and next Fri and Sat too.

Was by myself since Cynthia is on opposite sleep cycles again. I napped yesterday afternoon and will today since I only slept 3 to 8 this am.

After looking for 3 years, finally got some Hanukkah candles that fit my brass menorah. Found them at Target, a present from Cynthia.

Had lunch at the Sun Coast Buffet and bought tickets for Dec. 27 for the Hotel California show honoring the Eagles and their music. Went to it last time they were here and danced in the corner by the state on a little dance floor that was left uncovered for the carpet and tables. We will again be right against the stage.

Saw Martha and Becky, and two other girls I have danced with, and then surprise. Martha is the one that was pissed because I became a woman and she was interested in me as a mate. Now we are friends again.

When I transitioned I had been going with a lady named M, she had a friend S. Saw S tonight at the bar, had nice conversation with her, she introduced me to her date. Then at the end of the dance, she called me over and introduced me to two members of another band, one of whom seemed to be totally taken with me even after I told him I was transexual. He even asked if I was taken, saying someone so beautiful(blush) must be. I must say this does wonders for the sense of well being. Anyway, S made me promise to dance with her and him tomorrow night.

Then talked to a friend of Paul the bartender. He was incredulous that I was born male, and absolutely didn't want to believe I am 73.

So I had lots of feel-good stuff tonight. Sort of made me forget my problems a little.

Spent 5 hours culling through every page of my 2007 journal from Sept 12, and on through August of 2008.

Writing all the documentation and dates involving the violation of NRS by teh two people who fired me. Attached all other documentation.

Drove to the police station and filed my criminal complaint against them for violating two state laws in my firing and subsequent events.

Hope they get arrested on the job and spend Christmas in Jail, they deserve it. I do feel sorry for one but I had to include her since she was a puppet of the real culprit, and even after I showed her the statute she still continued her violation.

AND TODAY IS MY FOURTH REBIRTHDAY. FOUR YEARS OLD AND I CAN EVEN TALK AND TYPE! JUST WAIT TILL I AM A TEENAGER IN

You know the old saying practice practice practice. It really does make a difference. Unfortunately since I haven't been teaching I hardly play any more inspite of the 15 instruments I have. I notice for sure how rusty I am on the guitar. My keyboard work seems to be holding up well though Drums are no sweat and I really would like to get a drum gig..
