Yes, your posting may have been meant to be constructive...but you said the same thing in a PM to me and after a couple of my stories. Saying it here was a bit too much like beating a dead horse.

But, even so, I may have come down on you too harshly. Maybe I was having a bad day like DC was when he went on his rave about trolls. No, I do not consider you a troll. You posted your name and gave a reasonable reason for your critique.

I certainly had no intention of trying to discourage a new writer from writing. Why Don would turn over in his grave (if he were dead; which he's not!) You seem to have a genuine passion to do so and get your stories read. Good luck in your endeavors.

LE, as for my writing, I have posted a few stories where I've strayed from my usual predictable genre, (Adam and Eve's First Time, But Fancy was her Name, Sergeant Rock, Jack Schitt, etc.) but I always find myself coming back to my first love. I really enjoy the incest genre and I love the young theme, too. I know this may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I just might be too old a dog to learn new tricks!

I'll end by saying that if any reader doesn't care for my 'predictable', 'similar' stories, then they can avoid them.

I'd be thrilled to have the chance to help with proofreading your latest story. I used to do it professionally (well, I got paid, anyway) many moons ago, and I am somewhat anal retentive, so I would attempt to do the story justice. As anyone who has read my stuff knows, errors do creep through, especially on my own work, but if you think my finished product is bad, you should see the first draft!

Seriously, if you feel you need some help, I would be honored to provide it to you.

To my new-newbie-friend and his arch-nemesis, the fellow combatant, J.A.T., I have just posted a very nasty rape sequence on my thread called UNLIKELY ANTICHRIST: Book One, Nascent. It is an excerpt from the final draft of my new book, which will be released this winter.

The book is a romance, and on the whole it contains sweetness (the thread contains several gushingly sweet excerpts, too), but some sections of the book are nasty, plain and simple.

Be advised that my particular brand of filth is most likely not like any other porn you've ever read, which is why it is not particularly popular here. People profess to want something "different," yet that purported desire does not translate into mouseclicks. Interesting how that works. Someone should do a study.

Yes Don, I knew it. Heck, I even know why. It's because they have no fat to add nutrition. I believe the same is true for caribou.

If you're wondering why I haven't posted an updated list of Recommended Authors on the new page yet, it's because I'm trying to figure out what to do with the forum authors. The cached searches are only temporary, so I don't know of any way to create a permanent link to a page pointing to all of the stories on the forums of a particular author. There are a couple of authors on the list who are mentioned only by name, not by story, so I can't just remove the links in their names.

Of course, thanks to Asswipe... I mean, steveo420... we're almost to the next page anyways, so maybe I'll just skip this page to give me more time to think of how to resolve the issue.

Great idea but difficult to enforce. I must tell you that if you have never read a story on the forum, you are missing some really nice stories and some really crappy stories. I just keep looking for the diamond in the septic tank and often find it.

Has anyone read Sullygom's stories on the forum. They're short, quick, easy to read and very erotic. I asked him why he didn't post to the sex stories section. First, he didn't know about that part of the site. Second, he said he couldn't hit the 5000 words.

Maybe the solution is just to go ahead and remove the link to the author's name because it's not working anyways, and if no one mentions any of the author's stories specifically, they only get a mention on the list, not a link. Of course, the problem goes away if they also post their stories in the Sex Stories section, because at least I can make a judgment call and point to their author page instead of to their stories on the forum. I don't mind chasing down links if people don't provide them, but if an author has 50 stories on the forums and someone just mentions the author but not which stories they like, I have no idea what to link to.

If you only provide the name anyone interested can do a search of the forum to find the story/stories. If a specific story is provided, that's easy to find also. I would say not to worry about providing a link. Maybe that would encourage people to submit stories to that side.

It's been over a year, since I have done any system work and seeing the site just now made me say, "phew, I'm glad I don't have to work under that constant pressure anymore."

I hope I'm around long enough to see the improvements.

Actually, there seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding here. The minimum length for a story is 5000 characters, not 5000 words. (I know my stories are getting a bit longer these days, but quite a few earlier ones are under 5000 words!!).

In other words, if you reckon on an average of five or six characters to a word, the story only needs to be about 900 to 1000 words. Of course, if Sullgom's are shorter than that - and why not? - then Don's system would be best. But I think the original earlier post about this also said "5000 words".

No need for apology. It was my mistake. When I read the stories, it did seem to me that they were long enough for posting on the story site. Heck, I've posted enough stories, I should have known better. I guess Sullgom, ejls, and I had a brain freeze contributing to "a failure to communicate" correctly.

Hiya people, been away for some time and kinda missed the banter on this thread.

So, how's it all going? What's new? and who is hot?

Got lots of catching up to do and I suppose, I should get to bashing the keyboard to produce something new.

Have 4 different stories on the go, but they are all book length and hard work. Not having the time is a bitch, but hoping the holidays will allow me some time to create something.

I did manage to knock out chapter three of Excort Services. I don't know if anyone read it, I haven't even checked, that's how away I have been.

DAMN SHAME to release a story which will get no comments or votes until God knows when! Lemark should have stopped new submissions when the votes and comments were stopped. Unless the system is fixed soon there will be a library of stories out there that will have no feedback. Authors who hold their stories back will be releasing them in a flood when the system is up, but the flood will wash away many, many fine stories because of so much all-at-once competition.

A possible (partial) solution - everyone remember those stories posted during this period that you especially liked and, when the server situation is rectified, go back and post your rating and comments. That's what I plan on doing. I know that will not reach very far in correcting the problem, but it's the best I can do.
