Well, I had a roommate who was just about the most intelligent 'book-smart' fella you would ever meet in your life. But, when it came to common-sense brains, that guy was as about as dumb as a box of rocks! Now don, when it comes to reading, commenting on, and giving constructive critiques, there 'ain't' a fella on this site who has a fuller box of brains than you do! Mister, you might be reluctant to attempt writing yourself, but I'd betcha a dollar to a dime you could TEACH it!!! Hell, you're teaching here on this thread every damn day!

A comment you made above was a prime example of a teaching mind at work. Why don't idea-stuck new writers follow your suggestion. Pick a story poorly written, get the author's permission, and then re-right it. You certainly couldn't mess it up. I once thought about trying this once, just as an exercise in vanity, but I never got around to it.

Honestly, I am not really embarassed. My lack of education is only lacking in the 'formal' area, anyway and I'm not really ashamed of my brain. As far as using it to write for other peoples enjoyment, I just don't know if I have it in me. One thing that has been accomplished is to get me thinking about it. If I ever do, you four will be the first to know.

Now, go embarass someone else.

I am not saying you would be god. But I have read many of your post you seem to be well spoken and translate that very well into the written word. I think a few times you have hinted at thoughts for stories if you did write one I say let it out what it is will be. I am sure though from what I have seen of you so far it would be worth a read.

Bear with it, the final version of the story is much, much better than the first. Just shows what can be done when someone really wants to improve.

Over the last few weeks, I've attempted to read a number of newly posted stories on the main story pages, and I must say that I've finished only a few of them. Why? The quality of the submissions, or lack of it.

Maybe it's the inability of readers to vote and comment that has failed to push poorly written stories to the bottom of the listings. Maybe it's the unwillingness of some writers to submit their work, knowing that they will not receive any comments, will not know how many times they are being read, and will not be able to judge the worth of their submissions in the public's eye. Maybe it's my own snobbery, which I'd like to think it is not.

In any case, there seem to be an inordinate number of new stories that are walls of words, with little or no punctuation, horrible spelling, laughable misuse of homonyms (there, their, and they're or to, two, and too), indecipherable sentence structure, and no plot. Sure, it's a porn site. We're not Nobel Prize winning writers. But how can we enjoy a porn story if we can't read it?

So, my questions are, where are the good writers? Is everyone on the Recommended Writers list (or people who should be on it) holding back on submitting their new stuff? Did they all go on extended winter vacations? Did they all run out of ideas? What is happening to our website?

I'm not sure that I qualify as a good writer, but I certainly won't be publishing while the site is in its current condition. I've better things for my time than spend days writing a story for it to vanish without any opinion from readers.

I suspect other writers may feel the same and are understandably staying away. And the same may happen to readers who see150 stories, without votes, reads or comments, each time they visit.

They should of proofread they're stories, I no I should just except that that's the way it is and not let it effect me, but sometimes those mistakes are enough too make me loose my mind.

I don't know about other authors holding back their posts because they're not getting any comments but I plan to keep posting. I figure if someone wants to read my stories they can always go to the author section and click on my name. I miss the comments and knowing how many readers I have, but I write my stories for people to read so I'll keep posting them. By the way I finally finished chapter 10 of my Ben 10 story so check it out and feel free to leave your comments in the regular forum since that seems to be the only way I'll get them for now.

It is not for me to say whether I am a good writer, but I daresay my work is grammatical.

I am on "extended winter vacation," as you call it, mountain climbing and ice climbing each weekend.

I am also writing at least 40,000 words per week on a filthy porn project that I am struggling to finish and post here by late March, and I intend on posting it here, in its entirety, upon completion - irrespective of the status of the voting/comments system. (As I have said many times to D.C. and others, I could really care less, since I am writing for myself.)

As for the state of the website, Lemark insists his contractor(s) is(are) working on it. To give him credit, we (collectively) gave him a heck of a big charge when we (collectively) talked the site admins into revamping the site's tracking systems back in the fall.

I am not as active here as I was a few months ago, because I am crunching to finish my second piece of trash, but I do check in, just to see if the tracking system is back up. When the novel is finished, I will post it here regardless of the state of the tracking system.

I don't think it is possible, although one reader of some of the nicer stories claimed that someone else was using his name/addie to leave comments that were diametrically opposed to his. He left mostly pretty civil, positive comments, where warranted, and the other person left very nasty comments. For all I know, he/she could have been scitso. Who knows?

But I do think DC was spoofing us and that's obviously the way I took it.

A.P., I had the very same thought, at first, and that's what threw me. BUT, then I recalled the multiple postings DC has had where he has responded to a previous comment by answering sarcastically, ironically, or humorously.

Here, DC was answering wantsomefun's observations about poorly written stories by writing a poorly written condemnation of them! This is irony, sarcasm, and humor tied up in a neat little bow.

Yes, it's a joke. Since wantsomefun mentioned some of the more common mistakes that writers make, I tried to squeeze as many of these mistakes as I could into one paragraph. (I count 7). I should be more careful in the future; sometimes my humor is a little too subtle.

I just realized I left out one of the other classic mistakes, but its not worth it's own post.

Lately, it seems that the Sex Stories Forum has been invaded by spammers. If you open a thread and see that it's spam, click on the exclamation point in the triangle, in their box. This will bring you to page where you can report the spammer. What I also do is go to their home page, copy the link to that page into a pm and send it to the mods, chunky and piggit. It's annoying as hell, and I've reported 3 of them today.

I turned in reports on the same three as well as the one yesterday. I wish there was a way to prevent that, but as long as that individual (I am sure it is the same person) keeps changing identity, I guess there's no way.

Over the last few weeks, I've attempted to read a number of newly posted stories on the main story pages, and I must say that I've finished only a few of them. Why? The quality of the submissions, or lack of it. Maybe it's the inability of readers to vote and comment that has failed to push poorly written stories to the bottom of the listings. Maybe it's the unwillingness of some writers to submit their work, knowing that they will not receive any comments, will not know how many times they are being read, and will not be able to judge the worth of their submissions in the public's eye. Maybe it's my own snobbery, which I'd like to think it is not. In any case, there seem to be an inordinate number of new stories that are walls of words, with little or no punctuation, horrible spelling, laughable misuse of homonyms (there, their, and they're or to, two, and too), indecipherable sentence structure, and no plot. Sure, it's a porn site. We're not Nobel Prize winning writers. But how can we enjoy a porn story if we can't read it? So, my questions are, where are the good writers? Is everyone on the Recommended Writers list (or people who should be on it) holding back on submitting their new stuff? Did they all go on extended winter vacations? Did they all run out of ideas? What is happening to our website?
