I know it sounds silly, but BS&T was originally intended as a serious jazz/rock fusion band. Listen to some of their work on the first 3 albums and it comes out. Their version of "Symphony/Sympathy for the Devil" has a lot of good stuff, and "Sometimes in Winter" sounds a lot like the Evans composition mentioned above. As a kid growing up on Rock in the '60s, BS&T was my introduction to jazz.

I like the Springfield version better than the Krall version, probably because I grew up listening to it. I also like the Bacharach instrumental version with a mellow trumpet below. The music finally starts one minute into the video clip.
