  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

Local newspaper Midi Libre reported that one person had been killed and four others injured, including one seriously, in the explosion at 11.45am (10.45 BST).

The papers said the body of one male worker at the plant had been "found carbonised", but it added that there was no evidence that the explosion had "caused any radioactive leak".

An oven reportedly exploded at the Marcoule nuclear site near Nimes in the south of France. The site produces MOX fuel, which recycles plutonium from nuclear weapons, and is partly used by the French nuclear power company Areva....

Oh my! This is what I get for never watching the news.

Carbonised, eh? That takes a lot of heat.

Any links for me to look at? I want to know more.

    God help us...

"For the time being nothing has made it outside," said a spokesman for France's Atomic Energy Commission (CEA).

Quote from link above: "The French nuclear programme does not have a stellar record of transparency."

    Thanks for the link.

    Interesting.

It is my professional opinion as a Netizen that for one thing, even if a radiation leak occurred, however small, a government might not want to alert it's citizens to any potential danger. For another, it may be too early to get an accurate idea of the damage done. Radiation has a way of... Creeping up on you.

This is quite a year for Nuclear Power. First Fukushima, and now Marcoule. We have the power of the sun in our hands, and we never bothered to put on oven mitts, it seems.

All of the waste/chemicals inside the plant. Hopefully none of them have made it out or possibly will somehow.

Considering what happened with the last explosion in the world though, I'm not too confident about that.

    I never said it did.

Something exploded though, and see there's this funny thing about explosions really. They tend to damage things.

It's more than a little bit possible that it caused damage somewhere.

It did. It damaged the furnace where they burn rubbish.

There's a leak of old bits of paper and rusty screwdrivers, if that bothers you. There is no radiation in a furnace.

I don't know about that, we are all aware of the extremely high levels of radiation in fly ash, NOT.

Love the headline on this thread " “No leak” after deadly French nuclear blast"

Looks like the National Inquirer wrote it.

    Now, about nuclear explosions...

An old lieutnant-colonel (probably long gone from among us, by now) was telling us - we were just kids in our twenties:

Kids, it doesn't matter where on this planet occurs a nuclear explosion!

It will surely affect all the surface of the planet!

The only difference is, that, depending on the distance & weather conditions, some parts of the planet will suffer more or less than others...

So, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Tchernobil, Fukushima + all the bloody controlled nuclear experiments are just a plague to this planet...

We don't hold the power of the sun - if only we did.

Funnily enough, the huge research centre in France that claimed to be 'very close' to obtaining stable nuclear fusion in the laboratory suddenly and quite inexplicably had its funding cut some years ago.

    It's up and running:

"However, to the delight of the assembled crowd, most of whom have worked hard to reach this moment, the first pulse for 22 months ran exactly as planned at 18.30 on 24th August. Plasma was created and controlled for 15 seconds, reaching a maximum current of 1.1 MA"

But it doesn't burn fly ash. The furnace that exploded is just a regular old furnace; it happens to be on a site which also has some things to do with nuclear power, but there is no nuclear power plant on the site.

This reminds me of my last encounter with escargot; after a terrible bout of explosive diarrhea, my bowels were motionless for a week!

Fly ash is the result of burning, not the fuel.

However, if you didn't catch the sarcasm in my post, I failed.
