After reading this thread, it becomes very obvious we have a group of lazy "takers" here. Which is rather unfortunate. They will live a sub par existence their entire lives, as they are now. What a waste. It really is tragic, but this is what dreams of socialism/communism produce. Damn fricking commies, they are disgusting! Ruining our youth. Ask Ficxa about communism...or a North Korean.

    Surprise...I am on your side....

even though I left home at 16.....
my parents raised me to be very independent and I ended up more independent than they wanted...
They died when I was 19 and I am sorry I did not spend more time with them.
They where in their young 40's and that was 50 years ago now.

But all the info you posted is true and that's why Trump won.....
There are still enough of us old folks and everyday type workers that saw the direction Obama was taking us things
would only get worse..Hillary was headed down the same path....

I am not sure if Trump can turn us around with the Globalist Socialist Elites that influence Congress but
he is the last chance I feel we have to get America back on the footing we where once on. If he does not I feel
the average young person's future looks dim.....

For a youngster (I'm 77 - 8 years older than you?) you are very wise. It must have been something in the drinking water back then but so many of us took the world by the balls and succeeded. I don't see much of that anymore. Beside, how can you bitch to your depression era parents that the job market is too tough?

Randy, if you clicked on the websites posted by Sage_of_the_Forlorn_Path you missed the point of them.

I did not read each if the articles in its entirety. The message of each is not that socialism has failed; it is that capitalism is failing most Americans. The cost of living is going up. Average real wages are going down.

During the twenty-first century incomes in even STEM jobs has stagnated. Recently I talked to a man in late middle age with undergraduate degrees in chemistry and biology. He worked in a warehouse.

Individuals have risen. Several have contributed to this post. They interpret their success as its justification. America's white collar and blue collar classes have declined.

To a considerable extent the U.S. economy has never recovered from the recession of 1974.

Once on a television program where several celebrities talked about their lives Joe Namath said, "Old Joe here knows he would not be on this show if a number of people hadn't helped him along the way."

I would appreciate that sort of humility among the XNXX posters who have used this thread to brag about their success and to sneer at young people who cannot afford to leave their parents' homes.

    Not much has changed.

Getting ahead has been hard for every generation.

I think it's harder today, because of e-media and how the price of connectedness appears to be obligatory. Young people don't even think about what they pay every month for smart phones and data plans. And how essential is it, really? It adds almost nothing, in terms of essential knowledge. Add to that all the additional cost for mindless entertainment-- movie streaming, 500 channels of garbage...Hard to save and get ahead, when you're blowing $90+ per month on nothing whatsoever.

Higher education is the real back breaker, and as far as that goes I agree with a few posts above. A masters is obligatory now, for any decent profession, and not for any rational reason. Why should an elementary school teacher need a masters? Merely to winnow the field of candidates. Job protection and nothing more. Yet getting a masters puts the average person in debt for decades. And the blame for the cost I place squarely on government distortions caused by the financial aid/subsidy system.

very few are cut out for a masters degree.....

most people coming out of public high schools are not even qualified for college....

when we sold college to all over vocational schools to the masses we made a big mistake and created
      very rich universities.....

The U.S. educational system is not very good at educating those who are not in the upper 10% of the IQ range.

Those where spun the way the Globalist Socialist Elites media wanted it to be spun.......

But it is not capitalism at fault......but the problems are real....

I did not go into each of them one by one........it is the influence of socialism that has got us where we are...

Don't know who you're responding to here, but I bristle whenever I hear that economic ails in Europe and the United States are failures of capitalism.

How can the health care mess be considered a failure of capitalism, when market economics are so groutesquely distorted by regulation?

How can small bank and credit union failures be called the work of capitalism, when Dodd-Frank and Sarbanes-Oxley regulatory burdens are so great that only multinationals can afford to comply with them?

And college tuition! Sweet Jesus. Failures of capitalism? How, when the federal government's de facto monopoly on student aid puts federal subidies and tuition rates on a vicious treadmill, crushing any incentive to compeitition.

These are not the failures of capitalism.

They are socialism in its growing pains.

    Again; excuses.
    Life is a bitch.
Every generation has had to deal with some roadblock(s) to getting ahead.
In the 30's it was the depression.
In the 40's we were fighting a war.
In the 50's it was Korea, the cold war, and the economy.
In the 60's it was VietNam and the economy.
In the 70's it was Disco and the economy.
In the 80's it was the Cold War, Aids and the economy.
In the 90's it was Dessert Storm and the economy.
In the 00's it was terrorism and the economy.
In the 10's it was terrorism and the economy.

Jobs requiring a college degree have increased, but even in the 30's people managed.

Anyone remember when Carter was president and what people had to do to get ahead?
Remember when variable home loans first came into existence. I can remember people having a 6-8% interest loan that jumped to 20% in a year.

We had a company job fair last week. Countless jobs offered with good pay and benefits. Hard to get people that actually want to work. Most want pay for play and have no concern for company or earning a check. First thing out of most mouths, "how much does the job pay?" Most sat glaze eyed as the job responsibilities were discussed.

Plenty of trades work here also...can't hire enough good employees for our properties. We end up "settling" on applicants...many a waste of money training them so they last a couple of paychecks before vacating a job that they should never have applied.

Its a different world now, its getting harder and harder for those of us who work for a living but as always we hang on. Kids live at home longer now. Most of them start helping around the house so not all parents are not so quick to give them the boot.
The younger generations priorities are different from ours and they should be. The old farts work to much and stress to much that's why we tend to drop dead from heart attacks so often. Its not easy being a young adult look at the pitfalls of youth these days. Hard drugs, school shootings, terror attacks, cyber bullying, racial and political divides like never before.
We call them soft but they are attempting to over come great obstacles. We should be giving them guidance instead of paying all thier bills. The fact of the matter is its thier world now I'm sure they will figure it out and I know our parents generation said the same shit about us that we are saying about them

Yeah, you're right. I never thought about all the obstacles in their path. It is tough now days, however we do have to encourage self sufficiency for the little darlin's...

And save it, I have a 3000 sq ft house on 5 acres.

In defense of these pissants, I'm sure the extra rent paid the parents comes in handy as they feel the pinch as well ...

Things are getting harder for some people because their grown kids live at home and the parents have to foot the bill for these losers.
No one in my family dies from heart attacks. We live long healthy lives. I will live to be 100. When I get 100 I will have to make the decision on how much longer I will live.
Kids make more problems for themselves than anything else. Hard drugs, don't take them. Not a problem anymore. Cyber bullying, put the phone down. Not a problem anymore.
So far they are not doing a bang up job over coming anything.

    Less add it up:
    $283000 home +$141500 interest
    $500000 nice college + $75000 interst
$750 per month car/insurance this one pereymuch for life cuz cars on average last 10-12 years if you work a job with college education
    $475 per month utilities
$1000 per month food if you have at least two kids
    $500000 retirement fund
So tell me on average college education get you 2 million dollars for 20 years work so where is the wiggle room? Work till you 75?

Peoples ideas are funny about millennials. I lived with my parents till I was 27 but because I was able to do that I was able to cut out some of the bullshit I listed I now live in my own basement thank you

I can see the problem. Your figures are the problem.
You have no idea how to get from being a kid to having what you list.
