I think the scariest part of that scenario is all the guys measuring their dicks and Hillary whipping out hers and putting them all to shame.

 

Hillary does so while yelling out "Me Hillary, Queen of shemails!"

 

I know you gentleman have vivid imaginations and the ability to express your ideas in the form of wonderfully written prose. Many times I have read your stories and been thrilled by the result....

but....



You guys are staring to really scare me... where will this all lead? What new horrors will you come up with? Why do I have this sick fascination with reading these twisted posts?

I have a comment which none of the writers here will enjoy reading.

I am unable to judge this competition and will therefore withhold my vote.

Some of the stories presented are too well written but unable to be considered by my internal judge due to the depth of the horror portrayed. I cannot allow my inability to consider what could possibly be better WRITING to be given a lower valuation because of that.

Ejls, I gave you my vote last competition because I could see the quality of your work AND APPRECIATE THAT QUALITY IN ITS PRESENTATION. There are works in this competition that I recognize as potentially comparable in quality but which I cannot consider due to the amount of DISTASTE they leave in my mind.

The stories which I enjoyed the most were The Night Gallery presentation of "You Will Wish For Death" and the transmutation of reality in "The Gathering". I enjoyed "The Grotto of Dreams", "Nightmare in the Gallery", "Terror of the Incubus" and "The Fuseli Killer". But no matter how much I recognize the power and artistry behind "Sister Catherine's Nightmare" and "Helena's Nightmare", "Pimp's Revenge" and "The Vessel" the rape stories would never be able to get my vote past the extremity of my dislike.

I apologize for my lack.

I will likely continue to comment and if I can find concrete points other than the scenes which offend me so much will bring them up - all I can say is good luck to all who submitted their hard work and may the best writer win.

WantSomeFun - remember well, when all reach a state of enlightened madness then they become the normal, while all who are of the old normal become those who are mad.

We have reached a point in our own madness further around the bend than most others; they are trying to desperately catch up to merge in the joyous chaotic madness of ours that gives the mad hatter and the Queen of Hearts absolute fits...

Of course, given that there is a demon possessing Richard Simmons, I have to wonder about madness and saneness...ever hear a demon whine and whimper as it pleads to be let out...ugh, shivers, non stop shivers...

We actually went SO dark that it offended a loyal reader!

Under normal circumstances I would say his opinions require some real soul-searching by the writing community. But this is CAW #13 with a Night Gallery theme and Fuseli's work as inspiration, plus it's hosted by BlackRonin, of all people!

So, I think we should give ourselves a big round of applause right now!

Sorry for the delay all, I had the reading list all written up but then found that, for some reason, about a third of the links I had didn't work. Not sure what happened there; I've since located the proper links, but now I'm due into work, so a little more delay...

Clarification, please, WSF.
NONE of the writers offended me.
Certain thematic elements could not be enjoyed due to the twisting in my gut that they caused.

I watch and enjoy Hellraiser and Nightmare On Elm Street.
I have never seen and will never voluntarily watch any of the F-13th or Halloween series.
Identify the differences and you might be able to dig into my psyche.

I cannot judge those stories through that churn my gut although I recognize in at least one of them a power and capability at least comparable to that which ejls served us last round.

Because of this, I cannot be a true judge of the quality of writing at this time. That is MY failing, not any of the writers here. Each one of you has written a work that they felt was worthy of submission; I would be doing a disservice if I did not judge those submissions according to their worth as well.

I was not lying when I said that I could almost visualize the telling of the vengeful sketch as presented by Rod Serling. Imagine that same ability watching the rapes unfold and the brutality which they entailed.

 

In the end, Darth, we all have to do what works best for us. I can understand, everyone has their own taste. Thank you for your honesty.

 

Darthel - I do understand the difference very well; in my case these stories honestly pale in comparison to the darkness I have stood against before.

Everyone has their limits, there is nothing wrong with that.

Most of you may scoff at this claim, but I will substantiate it this way, the movie and actual recording of "The Exorcism of Emily Rose," has more of truth in it than many realize, by many layers and orders of magnitude.

There is more truth to the image in "The Nightmare" than most suspect or will actually understand.

 

Apparently I did with my post! I apologize for that. Let me see if I can clarify:

What I meant was that I think it's great that writers -- all of us, in one way or another -- created tales with enough clarity and ability to involve the reader that they made someone uncomfortable. That's what the creators of slasher films do. They hope to hear of people puking or passing out in the theater on opening night.

If one or more of our stories upsets a reader, in THIS Challenge, that's a good thing. It speaks to the power of the entry, the strength of the story.

All stories seek a reaction from their readers -- warm and fuzzy, aroused, amused, angered, sickened -- if we do it right, we get the appropriate reaction for the scene at hand.

I think, darthel, that you have paid this group of "deliciously twisted" writers a very large compliment.
