CAW10​

The theme for CAW10 is THE BEST and each entrant is to write the best story that they possibly can. If you wish, your theme can be THE BEST as in “THE BEST NIGHT OF SEX I EVER HAD” or “I TRIED MY BEST” or “SISTER KNOWS BEST” or “MY WIFE GAVE HIM HER BEST” but it doesn't have to be.

Your story SHOULD, however, include something about sexual activity. This is the sex story forum, after all, and that is what our readers (who do the voting) look for.

You must enter a COMPLETE STORY (not just an opening portion of a story or a work in progress) and you must enter your own, ORIGINAL story, specifically written for this competition. Stories deemed detrimental or derogatory to the CAW challenge may be rejected.

Stories should be of average length but you may enter a longer story if you wish. Just keep in mind that the reader may not want to read a story whose length appears to be a daunting task to read.

This competition will be limited to 25 stories (the amount allowed by the poll software) and each writer is limited to ONE entry (to allow as many to have a chance to enter as possible).

All stories entered must be posted here on the STORY FORUM to be entered but you may ALSO post your story to the story site if you wish. Please include CAW10 in your title box so that readers will know that it is an official CAW entry (you need not do that for your copy on the story site).

The winner of this writers' challenge will be the author whose story receives the most votes in the poll. In the case of a tie, there will be a short run-off, between the tied stories, to determine the overall winner.

CAW10 will be conducted in three parts. The challenge theme (this notice) will be the first part. You have a month (until March 1) to write and post your entry. A list of the entered stories (with links) will then appear (March 1 or 2) and the readers will have a period of time to read all of the entered stories before casting their vote. Part 3 will be March 15 when the poll will be posted, giving everyone fifteen “official” days to cast their vote for the story that (they feel) was THE BEST (this way the voting stage won’t drag on).

The winner of CAW10 will be entrusted with running CAW11 in the spirit of the preceding ten challenges.

Make no mistake: this is NOT a warm, fuzzy, soccer-mom, meaningless exercise. This is a competition. Quoting the CAW originator, "I DOUBLE-DOG DARE YOU" to come up with THE BEST story in this competition. The idea is to win by writing THE BEST story. The object is to get the most votes. The end result should be stories that excel in quality and appeal to the readers.

Writers should strive to make sure that their entry is read by as many people as possible. Your story will not win by just languishing on the sex story forum unread, no matter how good it is. Call attention to it. Link it in your signature. Let everyone know that there is a CAW10 and that you have a story entered in it. Urge people to take part and to have some fun and read some excellent stories by some of THE BEST writers of high quality erotica on the internet.

I would like to see a comment left on EACH story by each person who casts a vote but that would be a rule that can not be enforced so each voter is on their honor that they read each story before voting.

Just keep in mind that each author would love to see input, from each reader, as to how their story faired among the others.

Congratulations, Emerson! Your theme is simple and has broad appeal. Hopefully, you, as host, will have the honor of posting as many good stories into your poll as I did.

PLEASE don't think I'm nit-picking, but just in case there are people out there who are as dense as me, I'm going to ask some questions publicly:

If I'm reading this correctly, you're asking us to do the best job we can writing about the best of something -- anything. We can write about the best blow-job you ever got/gave, or the best poker hand you ever held, or even the best spaghetti sauce recipe, right? Is the story required to have erotic content? Can I just write about the poker game, or do I have to include what the three barmaids did in my room after I won?

What if the story leaves itself open to a sequel? And could you clarify the phrase, "detrimental or derogatory to the CAW challenge"? Rejected by whom? You, as the host?

Please define "average length." You are absolutely correct that many readers will not tackle the XXX-rated version of "War and Peace," but some of us are long-winded and would do well to have a limit. Also, does this effectively eliminate poetry that is not "epic" in length?

Only one question: How do you eliminate stories if more than 25 are entered? By posting date?

Are you taking on the responsibility of finding all these stories and links yourself? Good luck with that one! May I humbly suggest that you require people to PM you their links? It's a hell of a lot less work, and time-stamps can, unfortunately, come into play.

Anyway, four weeks to write, two weeks to read but not vote, and two weeks to read and vote, right? The voting then ends on or about March 30th?

Okay, fine -- that's in keeping with the discussions after CAW #9. As far as commenting is concerned, that's a lofty goal. Bravo on that.

I understand (and applaud) the first part of this, but not the phrase, "stories must meet minimum criteria (in the opinion of the CAW host) to qualify for entry." What does this mean?

 

I will have to ponder this theme... The best... at first I was afraid I was petrified... Yeah my first thought I'm not sure if it's a winner so I'm going to have to ponder it some more.

I really tried to address everything in the challenge notice so that there would be no questions but I will try to address each question you asked as follows...

You can write about ANYTHING YOU WANT but do YOUR BEST. If you want a definitive topic to inspire you than THE BEST is the topic and "MY BEST POKER HAND" would qualify. If you feel you can write a story that will win without any sex in it... good luck with that!

A sequel would be up to the writer but would NOT be a part of this competition. You can't add another part after your entry is already in. Writing a story titled "Why Caw Challenges Suck Ass" would be considered derogatory and detrimental and not allowed (unless, of course, it was a REALLY good one..).

Average length would be just about the length of most of the past CAW challenge entries. I only mentioned it for the obvious reason I stated. Again, if you believe you can write a poem that will win, go for it! The last poem entry, as I recall, didn't get a vote.

Posting date would be the cut off point if we already reach 25 entries. I would not wait until the last minute to enter but I wouldn't suggest submitting TOO soon either. No CAW challenge has reached the 25 entry mark.

Obviously the last part means that, if you submit a story that consists totally of "Bloop, bloop, I can smell your poop". It would not be allowed as an entry in the challenge.

 

The theme is THE BEST and THE BEST is the theme. ejls, I know that your best effort would be an awesome and formidable entry.

Seems to me the ELP likes to make himself out to be some sort of ''god'' figure on here, the CAW just seems to be another thing for him to ruin and lord over everyone.

He will pick which stories enter?! Ha just another chance to big up his own egotistical warped little mind. Seems to me as if he is some kind of political figure in RL cos they are all full of shit also and dont know when their fucked until they've got cum on their face.

Okay, I don't mean to waste your time here. You pretty much DID cover everything in your original post.

I agree that it's hard to get a lot of hits on a sex site with non-erotic material. I've tried it -- epic fail. But you have to admit, a story like "A Hanukkah Gift" (CAW #9) was pretty good. I'm glad to know that sort of thing is included. A trip to the casino may be needed here.

Am I correct in thinking that a story that could easily HAVE a sequel is permitted, as long as it stands on its own, and as long as any sequel is not posted until the voting is over? I know that I, personally, have written stories that were supposed to be stand-alone deals, but they grew.

You're correct that we have never seen 25 entries, although I wish that weren't true.

Thank you for clarifying the last part, too. So something along the lines of, "i fignered her and she cummed nd she blowd me an i cummed it wuz THE BEST" wouldn't cut it either, huh? Damn.

But now I have a question. Does "The Best" have to appear in the title? Is that a requirement or can you write about the best friend you ever had and title it "A Girl's Best Friend" or "Red Rover?"

No, it doesn't have to include BEST in the title. All writers have a broad leeway in how they incorporate THE BEST in their entries. I wanted this CAW to be simple and fun and I added the disclaimers to try and keep anyone from spoiling it for everyone (all the time believing that nobody would want to spoil it).

I think I understand where he/she/it is coming from. Emerson's OP would, theoretically, give him the ability to manipulate the whole thing by refusing to accept entries from some writers.

I, for one, do not expect him to do that. I just wanted to see how he would answer my questions, and I think he's done a good job of it.

Besides, boycotting the thing would destroy it. Enough damage has already been done, in my unsolicited opinion.

Oh Please... It's not like we carry ELP's nut sack around on a platter for him so he doesn't get tired... Though I'm sure he would be amused if we tried... He won the last one so he gets to run this one... if you don't want him running things then Vote for someone other than him to do it. SIMPLE! He got the most votes last time... If you want to run the fucker then write your story and get the votes you need to win... Simple as that... And it's not the first time that he has run one so... it's not like its something new... he typically writes good stuff... what can you say about that? You may not like his work but many folks do... but if you don't like it Vote someone else to be the honcho next time... just like Voting for the president cept you don't have to wait 4 years for another chance to fix your mistake.
