I didn't mean anything hurtful or of malice by my posting of my entry "Broot Force". If anything, it was meant as a tribute and a nod to a fellow writer. Some people have taken it in a totally different direction and over reacted in a way that I never expected. I was surprised and shocked by ejls' reaction and even tried to smooth things over by offering to withdraw the story or changing the name to "Maximum Force" which I did.

I apologize to Brootforce if he took offense to the story but (at this point) he hasn't even seen it to react to it.

Rachael and I have settled our differences and that storm is now over only to be replaced by this one.

I always seem to be in the middle and unable to understand why.

I have no idea whether to continue or not. Continue with this challenge (which was going so well) or even continue on this forum.

You'll have to advise me on what to do.

At this point I am just hanging my head and shrugging my shoulders and wishing that this would all just go away.

I am truly and humbly sorry for seemingly another mistake on my part.

You should not stop the SS, unless it was never your intention to provide a fun writing exercise for the members here in the first place. Your 1K word limit idea was brilliant, and it inspired people to take part in a writing challenge here who didn't before. Shutting down the SS now is a slap in the face to everyone.

It is incredibly difficult for me to believe you thought your choice of names would go over well. I might buy it from a lesser writer, or from someone who lies low and doesn't start trouble, but not from you. Am I completely, insanely wrong about your choice of names? Maybe, but I sincerely doubt it.

My advice, as your "friend" (whatever that means to you), is to take your lumps from this and learn your lesson. People don't like bickering, and they take offense to digs and snide remarks. They also don't like fawning, fake apologies.

We have not "over-reacted" as you put it, we have simply responded to what you must surely have know would garner a vociferous reaction. One could almost believe that you intended to get a highly critical response, almost as if you had set a trap for us to fall into.

The reason you are "always in the middle" is because you continue to place yourself there. Your constant need for attention seems to drive you into an on-going desperate search for self-publicity, whether good or bad.

I have withdrawn my entry from the tawdry spectacle that this competition has become, and I will not compete in CAW 17 if you are host or co-host.

With Ejls and wsf et al dropping out, leaves most of us saying "why is it always the decent people that leave and not the douche-otters?!" I think you should drop from this and the next competition and spend some time behaving yourself before doing something that infuriates everyone again.

Normally if someone asked for peace and forgiveness I could grant it in the case of an honest mistake or error in judgement - up to a point.

This matter has crossed that line long ago. I am completely convinced you knowingly and willingly set this up for some ulterior motive/s that matter not to me in any way.

The dishonor you have brought down upon yourself is of your own doing. I once looked upon you with a considerable degree of respect, now that is gone.

I am not withdrawing from the CAW SS for one reason: I entered to see how well people like my story, and it is for them the readers who will vote or not vote for it that I am here for.

Personally winning or losing a CAW, KAW or anything else which comes along does not matter anymore: it is for the readers that I continue to write and seek to become better at it.

Three fantastic writers have withdrawn from this competition, and God alone knows how many others will do the same. In one move ELP, you have taken a fine idea - to write a story in 1K or less words - and turned it upside down and discredited it, the CAW-competition itself and all of our efforts to return to a fairly peaceful setting of writing and reading stories.

Enough of my ranting on, my say on this is done.

 

I will not be hosting CAW 17 or any other writers' competition here. What you lose site of is the fact that this is not a politically correct forum where serious writers come to write stories titled "Rebecca Of Donnybrook Lane". This is a porn site where people write sick, fuck stories for other people to wank their cranks and twiddle their twats to. "Rebecca Sucks Daddy's Cock" is what you're more likely to find here and there's nothing wrong with that. But don't go looking down your noses at the other writers here. I have gone about writing stories that deal with more than just wanking. I have seriously tried to write while here. Some people don't like that and see me as a big target and love to attack me and knock me down a peg and, for the most part, I just take it good-naturedly and that seems to make them feel that they can attack me even more and get away with it. Never do that to a writer because they may just use it to turn the tables on you. "The pen..." as Shakespeare said.

I am sick of feeling bad about being here and taking part. This was supposed to be a fun and creative place and now people are trying to make it something it was never intended to be.

I won't be your whipping boy. I did nothing wrong and I can hold my head up and be happy.

 

Go look at your own comment on "Broot Force". You liked it. Then the winds seemed to change and now you write this. Be honest.

The current arguments, all of which you seem to be at the centre of, have nothing to do with the content of the stories, but plenty to do with the fact that you seem to have an aggrandized need to show your supposed superiority over others.

You are intentionally mis-directing the discussion. This has absolutely nothing to do with porn. This has to do with you making a dig, yet again, at someone who has opposed you.

So, this morning, just before 5am, I finally close my book, happy with the way the romance ended in a happy-ever-after for two well-deserving characters. I decided to take my phone, and as is my custom, check x before I go to sleep to see if I have any PMs, since I'm waiting for several replies from several conversations.

I noticed a new CAW SS entry, and decided, what the heck, it's only a thousand words, so I can read it in less than ten minutes easily.

I got as far as the name of the story and the author before my blood warmed up. Before I was halfway through, it was boiling, and by the time I was through, it was bubbling in my veins like a potion in a cauldron.

I'm sorry, ELP, but I'm going to go with my first instinct here and withdraw my entry as well. I have no way of knowing whether or not you are sincere when you say you 'meant no insult' to a fellow member, but the fact of the matter is that I have no desire to take part in your little drama-fest anymore. I am severely disappointed in you for your unprofessional behaviour and your inability to look outside your self-centered little bubble of greatness to see that your actions are ruining something fun and interesting for everybody. You couldn't be satisfied with playing with the toy - you had to make sure you try to break it after you're done so nobody else can play with it.

How hollow would a victory in this be now?

I have felt for a while that I should withdraw after previous shit-storms but am genuinely confused. Is there any point to stay in? To be the winner of a comp where all the quality writers disappeared is not a good accolade!
