  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

It is pissing rain there currently and the rain is not expected to let up anytime soon so it will not only be a messy race but one of danger to these fine creatures and I hope that they all come out of it healthy .
Of interest among the field is a one eyed horse and who can't help but love an underdog , or is that underhorse ?:p;)

Not really more dangerous....the horses are aware of the conditions and it may be more dangerous when the codintions are good and
the horse and jockey feel they can be reckless.....

A sloppy track has about 6 inches of thick slosh down to the hard base and favors the speed and front runners
as they kick shit on the ones behind them......

Tracks drain to the inside and the mess is worse on the inside 4 posts....

a muddy track favors a jock and horse that have a real handle on pace---
mud sticks to the hooves and and slows the horse down from the weight and changes how the horse is use to running a race...

a drying track favors horses that come off the pace.....

Churchill has one of the best (maybe the best) racing surfaces in the industry......

I am quite confident all measures are in place to maintain the track as best as is humanly possible under the conditions and the welfare of the animals is an integral component to the race to keep the headlines positive .
I am more worried for all of those lovely ladies that enjoy so much showing off their fine headwear and traditional garments . Louisville is a treat to visit .
Mud is always a variable that we as soldiers are periodically faced with and know that things can go sideways quickly if not careful under rainy conditions so fingers crossed for them .

    4-1 favorite Always Dreaming
If Always Dreaming can be fairly close to the lead when the field reaches the top of the stretch, he will be difficult to beat in the final strides.

The Horse I like at around 5 to 1----19 to 4 morning line

Classic Empire figures to be in the picture as well as a result of five victories in his six starts. Trainer Mark Casse clearly has a capable horse here, but Classic Empire had a problem with a foot abscess earlier in the year and that led to a third-place finish in the Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream Park in February.

He appeared to recover from that injury when he picked up a victory in the Arkansas Derby April 15, and if he can run back to that winning form Saturday, he should have an excellent chance to find the winner's circle or at least hit the board. Classic Empire will start out of the No. 14 hole.

They truly are incredible creatures with great muscular structure . I enjoy a good gallop in my spare time but these jockey's are a little insane but more than qualified to control all that horsepower as it were .
Horses are very loyal animals if respected and treated well .
It amazes me that they can carry all that weight and speed with those tiny legs in comparison to the body size .

If you want a challenge @msman try riding a camel sometime and oddly enough they are quite willing participants and even bow down to allow one to mount them but they have a somewhat loose hide that makes for a slip and slide ride at best .

Maybe one of those 2 humped camels. I don't think I would be aby good on the single hump kind.

All camels have two humps. A Dromedary has one.

Thank you for expanding and by saying camel it keeps people in the conversation more than technical terms . Bactrians are the 2 humped variety .

Try this again. I might ride a Bactrian but don't think I would be very good at riding a dromedary.

I had a friend who won a lawsuit and got a large amount of money.
The first thing he did was buy a race horse. He lived in Oklahoma and turned the horse loose in the mountains and then couldn't catch it again.
He later went to prison for writing hot checks. Don't know what happened to his race horse.

Thoroughbreds are so inbred being put in the wild is not very smart....

They are susceptible to all kinds of shit.....
vets bills for them are outrageous....

See that is sad to hear and these animals are not toys to be taken lightly and by the sound of it your friend was not the type that would sink that type of maintenance money into the best welfare of the horse .
Like I said earlier in another thread , money corrupts !

The term Thoroughbred describes a breed of horse whose ancestry traces back to three foundation sires
    the Darley Arabian,
    the Godolphin Arabian and
    the Byerly Turk.

Named after their respective owners — Thomas Darley, Lord Godolphin and Captain Robert Byerly —

these three stallions were brought to England from the Mediterranean Middle East around the turn of the 17th century and bred to the stronger, but less precocious, native horse.

The result was an animal that could carry weight with sustained speed over extended distances, qualities which brought a new dimension to the burgeoning, aristocratically supported, sport of horse racing.

So began a selective breeding process which has been going on for more than 300 years, breeding the best stallions to the best mares, with the proof of superiority and excellence being established on the race track.

He wasn't ever very intelligent. He won the settlement for running over himself with a dozer. That should tell you something about him.
They paid the money in 3 separate payments 6 months apart. He was always dead broke by the time the next payment came in.
When there was no longer any money coming in he started selling everything he owned.
When that ran out he started writing hot checks.
He had a lot of friends when he had the money coming in but lost them all when the last check was spent.
He did throw some nice parties.

Meet the $300,000-a-Pop Stud That’s Dominating U.S. Horse Racing

Tapit’s total value is estimated at about $120 million.

The whole thing really takes no more than a few minutes.

The stallion, a striking ghost-white specimen named Tapit, is escorted into the breeding shed, where a mare awaits in one corner. He’s fitted with a leather muzzle — to prevent biting — and then, with some encouragement from the five handlers orchestrating the moment, mounts the mare. After a whinny and a swish of the tail, it’s over, and he saunters back to his field in the heart of Kentucky bluegrass country.

Tapit will repeat this routine some 135 times this year.

Each time he does, his owners will collect a fee of $300,000. It is a staggering sum of money. Even after factoring in the typical number of fee cancellations due to failed pregnancies, they will reap some $35 million.

The article continues in length but I took the opening that got the point across although it is an interesting story if you are either filthy rich or might want to be luck willing .

      http://gainesway.com/stallions/tapit/

Tapit has emerged as one of the most influential and breed-shaping stallions of the past half-century. North America’s leading sire in 2014, 2015, and 2016, Tapit has sired 21 Grade 1 winners, 20 yearlings to bring $1 million or more at auction, and earners of more than $110 million on the racetrack.

Lifetime: 187 black-type horses, 94 stakes winners, 58 graded stakes winners, 21 Grade 1 winners, six champions, five Breeders’ Cup winners, $110 million in progeny earnings

      Book limited to 125 mares
