I was just betting that day. I won the pick five on races 2-6 paid 5,360$ tax free and the cashier told me to take my money and go home. But I'd had my eye on Ratface Mc Doogal in the 7th all day. I bet 50 on him and went home with over 6 grand tax exempt in Canada. Best day ever.
The fastest horse I ever had was an appendix quarter horse 7/8 thoughrbred out of Texas and when I got to the quarter mile post It made think just how fast these horses are going at the track. I mostly I just lope around nowadays.

They are walking them to the starting gate right now and I have to admit I am pretty excited.

And if anyone tried to say that track isn't a dangerous muddy mess they are full of shit. Fuck it has water standing on it. Very dangerous for horses and Jockeys.

By the way I picked Patch as a long shot because I like his story. But that is probably a really dumb bet 13-1.

 

PS @Lioness another thing to watch closely is when they start loading the horses in the starting gate because there are many ways for a horse to end its racing career but one of them is when they start fighting the starting gate. They can get so bad about that they can't even be raced anymore.

 

Did anyone else see the horse that was crow hopping down the track right after the gates opened? I didn't get its number but want to know which horse it was.

Thank you Lioness. And that can also be a very bad sign for a horse's career. But in this case it might have been because the track was muddy and he didn't like his footing and/or he was getting hit in the head with mud flying up from the other horses.

But since it happened coming out of the gate it was probably frustration which can be a real problem.

Thoroughbreds are bred so hot they often development some really crazy behaviors and once they do it can be almost impossible to get them straightened out again.

Which is why if you have ever noticed when they are exercising Thoroughbreds or even just walking them around the track before the start of a race they have another horse and rider going with them with a halter rope and the other rider in a western saddle with a saddle horn. And that is in case the Thoroughbred blows up or tries to run away they can dally the halter rope around the saddle horn and try to hold them back.

He won 2 races this year already , took a 3rd place and finished 2nd last month at Santa Anita so has a good history and when I saw 40-1 there was no way I was passing on that suckers bet .
