It took all of 5 minutes for the Oilers to sell out of playoff tickets ...

 

This is what it's all about baby ... Lord Stanley's Cup.



This cup more than most things in life transends all barriers and is a magnet to young and old alike. The joy that just seeing/touching/kissing her is felt deep inside one's soul and if you don't believe me, seek her out and see for yourself. There is magic in that cup and that magic is hope ...

 

Being from Calgary I grew up conditioned to hate the Edmonton Oilers which was easy to do back when they used to kick our asses every year when they were a dynasty team but lately they have put together quite a good young team of talent and are being looked at to do great things in this playoff run, the first in years. The city is all in as far as support and have designated it as "Orange Crush".

Anyway, I know too many of the staff and players from both the Flames and Oilers so will hate them equally LOL but wish them both success this playoff run ...

I get to skate with the Oilers again at their new Arena tomorrow ahead of their first round matchup against the San Jose Sharks tomorrow night.

With any luck the Flames will take their series against the Anaheim Ducks starting Thursday night in Anaheim and renew the cross province rivalry with the Oilers like the good old days.

 

Regardless of the attempts that brandi will make to take focus away from this thread by using her JPS sock and other trivial threads, I am going to do extensive coverage of ALL teams without prejudice since my Flyers didn't make the post season.

I hope but don't expect any loyalty to this thread that has proven to be both informative and interesting in the past to continue ... hate me all you want but appreciate the effort at least lol.

 

Skating with the Oilers this afternoon was a rush and good physio for the legs.

Anyway let's get down to business. Game one in the books for a couple teams:

 

Go Rangers...took out the Canadiens game 1....

 

Oilers and Sharks are tied 2-2 with 7 minutes to go in the 3rd.

St Louis and Minnesota are tied 1-1 and are readying for OT.

 

Here is a quick look at tomorrow. Toronto is going to get slaughtered by Washington lol.

 

Oilers and Sharks are going into OT tied 2-2 and Minn/St L are still locked 1-1 7 minutes into OT with St L going on the PP.

 

And down goes another Canadian team, the Sharks just scored 4 minutes into OT to take game one 3-2.

 

Whew!

 

The only thing good about this series is that one of the two teams that I hate the most will be going home early.

 

My thought exactly and your name ran through my mind the entire time I watched the game and made that summary post.

I just wish your Bruins would take it easy on the Sens LOL.

 

Looks like Toronto is holding their own so far against Washington as they are currently up 2-1 halfway into the 2nd period.

Nashville is up 1-0 on Chicago late in the 1st and Calgary/Anaheim are a late start.
