Canada dodged a bullet and killed off a penalty and Sweden just took a too many men penalty with 1:24 left in the 3rd.

    still 1-1

I would be choked if I were a New York Rangers fan ...

Fucking Lindqvist couldn't stop a beachball in the playoffs yet you couldn't get a bullet past him today LOL.

Well done to all of the teams.

That was well worth staying up until 4AM to watch a hard fought hockey game and don't let the score fool you, it was close for the most part until the Ducks were behind the 8 ball late and down a goal having to go 100% offense. 2 empty net goals later and the Nashville Predators will make their first franchise Stanley Cup appearance as Western Conference Champions ... all that without their best 2 forwards to boot.

Well done men and good luck going forward ...

    JPT,
Fine, be a good Canadian and root for the ONLY Canadian team left.
I don't think the Predators care which team they beat when they raise the Cup.

Both the Sens and the Penguins have a problem.
    Neither has been consistent.
The Predators, in spite of injuries to key players, just keep coming and keep winning.

Baseball, Basketball, Football, or Hockey, the team that is HOT in the playoffs has the best chance to take it all.

Let the Eastern Conference go to seven games.
Pekka Rinne and his boys have a little somethin' somethin' waiting for you.

I like the Predators and have been very complimentary toward them in my posts and articles all season and would not be disappointed if they took the Cup but it is only natural to cheer for your country unless it was the Habs making the run, na even then ...

All I know is that last nights game was one of the best in the playoffs so far and a large part of that was the incredible crowd that was LOUD and proud.

By sounding like such a flag waver which I am, I am basically willing it to happen, but my track record in that sucks lol. I should try reverse psychology ... GO PENGUINS

There will be a game 7 as the Senators scored (Hoffman) at the 1:34 mark of the 3rd and held on to take it 2-1.

Couldn't work out any better for the Preds as they get more time for their injuries to heal and start with a full slate of players. Like Baddog said, I don't like their opponents chances lol.

Senators, Penguins each have their Game 7 demons
Ottawa has never won one, while Pittsburgh has struggled in games at home
The Ottawa Senators have had a knack for doing the unexpected this post-season. They'll need to do it one more time to advance to their first Stanley Cup final in a decade.

The Senators take on the defending champion Penguins in Pittsburgh on Thursday night in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final. The Senators are 0-5 all-time in Game 7s, tying them with the Arizona Coyotes for the worst record in all of North American pro sports.

However, the Penguins are 0-7 in Game 7 at home after losing Game 6 on the road.

The Senators have repeatedly rebounded after being written off in these playoffs, most recently in this series. After losing back-to-back games to the Penguins, including an embarrassing 7-0 beating in Game 5, the Senators put forth one of their best efforts in Game 6 to take a 2-1 victory and force the deciding game.

"I remember coming home after we lost 7-0 and I was driving home talking to (defenceman Dion Phaneuf) and he was like 'We're going to get this series' and I was thinking the same thing and it's how do you think that after you lose 7-0?" said Ottawa forward Clarke MacArthur. "So we got one of the two and we have a job to do going into Game 7.

"I believe in the group we have and I know when we play our game and if we're on we can beat any team in the league and if we're off, you can have an off night. I feel like this team, I've never been on a team that reloads as quick as we do and that's what this time of year is all about. It's forget it, move on and we did that and now we have to forget last night too."

Following the loss the Penguins were just as eager to put Game 6 behind them. Unlike the Senators, the Penguins are in very familiar territory.

The Penguins were in the exact same position a year ago as they faced the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final where they went on to win 2-1. Two weeks ago the Penguins eliminated the President Trophy-winning Washington Capitals in Game 7 with a 2-0 victory.

The Senators haven't played in a Game 7 since the 2012 Eastern Conference quarter-finals where they were eliminated by the New York Rangers.

Not surprisingly, the Penguins see their familiarity with Game 7s as an advantage.

"Well, I have to believe those experiences will serve our players well," said Pittsburgh coach Mike Sullivan. "It's not something that's new to them. These guys have been involved in these experiences on a number of occasions, and they have those experiences to draw on.

"You know, I think they know what to expect, and now it's a matter of going out and earning it and controlling what they can and doing your very best to get the result that we're looking for."

"We've gone through this, we know what to expect out of our group," added 40-year-old forward Matt Cullen. "We have a comfort level with our plan and the way that we need to play. These are the fun games to play. So as a group, we go into it with a lot of confidence, knowing that we're going to need our best game and expecting that we'll bring it."

Ottawa has just five players remaining from that 2012 Game 7, but the Senators do have a handful of veterans who've experienced long playoff runs and series that have done the distance. Boucher has had them share what they've been through, but in the end he believes simplicity is key.

"It's just a game, but the tough part is to actually take everything out and make it just a game and make it what it is," said Boucher. "It's ice and boards, our team against their team, the same as yesterday, and everything outside, the big picture that's your (reporters) job.

"I think we just need to stick to what we are, what we've been doing and our strengths. The minute we try to fall into the other team's strengths we're done and I think that's our main focus."

    Schultz, Hornqvist game-time decisions
Head coach Mike Sullivan said that both defenceman Justin Schultz and winger Patric Hornqvist would be game-time decisions for Thursday night's decisive game against the visiting Ottawa Senators.

Schultz hasn't played since Game 2. He suffered an upper-body injury when he hit the boards awkwardly after a hit from Ottawa's Mike Hoffman.

The 26-year-old Schultz leads all Pittsburgh defencemen with eight points in 14 games this post-season.

His return would provide a much-needed boost to a group that's without top defenceman Kris Letang for the playoffs.

Hornqvist, meanwhile, has been out since the series opener due to an upper-body injury. The Swede has four goals and seven points in 13 games this post-season.

    Senators lineup changes
The Ottawa Senators are tweaking their lineup for Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final.

Head coach Guy Boucher said that Chris Kelly or Tommy Wingels will take the place of rookie Colin White in Thursday night's decisive game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Kelly has yet to dress since the first round against Boston, but the 36-year-old forward does have 91 games of playoff experience. He also won a Stanley Cup with Boston in 2011 and delivered an inspirational speech to the Senators on Tuesday ahead of a 2-1 Game 6 win.

Wingels, meanwhile, played in the Stanley Cup final with San Jose last year and has 54 games of post-season experience.

Boucher said he wanted to add some extra experience to the lineup, adding the choice would likely come down to positional need. Kelly is a centre and Wingels has often lined up on the wing with Ottawa.

    Scoreless after one period ...

I am converting people here and slowly turning them into hockey fans, they love the hitting part of it LOL.

Ottawa wins that period for taking the crowd out of it ...

    OUCH ...

Phaneuf took an ill timed interference penalty and the Penguins just scored to take 2-1 lead with 8 minutes left.

You know, hockey is a lot like the political threads here in one respect, if your team is winning it is all good BUT as soon as they aren't people will start finding blame and most times it falls on the referees ... or the other team doing something they don't like lol.

    Sounding familiar yet ???????????????????????????

    FUCK YA ... 2-2

Massive goal with 5 minutes left and took the crowd back out of it ...
