It's expensive to live here. It's also a place where a person can earn a good living if you want to apply yourself. It's far easier to carve out good income when you live with or near the masses.

Property taxes are kept low because of Prop 13. I likely pay far less than you guys. As far as the high cost of housing, I could sell out and move most anywhere. It's nice to know and it's always an ace in the hole but I can't see myself moving away. We have it all here.

And if people out here can only afford to live in Apts then I wonder why all these upscale homes keep getting built and sold.

Rixer, I would be very willing to bet I pay less in taxes than you do.

 

You might lose that bet because out here it depends. With Prop 13, property taxes are set from your original purchase price and are only allowed to raise the prices at very small increments from that point. So people like me who have owned their home for close to 30 years pay very little in property taxes compared to the person who just now buys a $500k home.

It's great for California home owners as they get older and retire because the government can't raise their taxes so high they have to move from their homes. Retiree's in a lot of other states are forced out of their homes by escalating property taxes. They should have lived in California.

 

Around here when you reach 65 you do not have to pay taxes on anything you have a homestead exemption on.

Amy Farrah Fowler on the other hand is just plain obnoxious and gross .

I am not sure why she was ever hired and I've always hoped that the creators would realize that she is not an acceptable addition to the show.

I would get rid of Raj and Leonard as well.

If I understand where you're from and that is Mississippi I have to say that the South has always been mistreated in popular culture .

I have found that the people are friendly and that the prices are reasonable and that it is very pretty . But my mother was raised in Jackson Mississippi so I might be a little bit prejudiced.

Literally my only problem with Mississippi is the mosquitoes and chiggers.

 

I live a few miles south of Jackson. It used to be a nice city. Now it is a cesspool.
The crime rate is higher than Detroit. City streets are so bad that fire trucks get stuck in the potholes.
There is more running down the street from leaks in the water lines than going to the housed.
It isn't unusual to see geysers shooting 50' in the air from broken water lines.

 

I think that the coastal cities in Mississippi are extremely cool

Just about any list that is bad we are at the top.

I don't watch the show that much but when I do when her character appears I simply leave the room to make a sandwich or something .

There was also another episode where she sabotaged Bernadette's chances at being on a calendar because she decided to take a feminist stand on behalf of Bernadette .

In other words she just felt that she could make better decisions for Bernadette Bernadette could make herself . It's another classically liberal device .

This hyper left-wing feminism is also not funny to me .

This is certainly not worth further investigation but to me it's just another product of the California culture . Leonard is constantly scolding other people when they are not politically correct .

I think the TV does mold the impressionable . And as the product of Hollywood for the most part it will tend to mold in the direction of the left .
