Re: "Publishing"

Haven't put on my tinfoil hat yet, so I'm not into full conspiracy mode, but just because the site "published" a story will not give them the "rights" to that story. When the work is authored, it is copyrighted at that point to the author who wrote it. That copyright cannot be transferred or usurped without a written conveyance signed by the legal copyright holder. This has been determined in court in some major, high profile business cases, e.g., SCO vs IBM.

Also, the site's terms cannot be retroactively changed to execute a transfer of those copyrights without the author's written permissions. I'm really not sure that a transfer of copyright would be legally executed just by "agreeing" to site terms that state that the copyright transfers when the author submits the story to the site. I doubt that relinquishment of copyright by such submission would stand up in any court of law in the US.

I was just curious when I saw the change from 'validated' to "Published". Because ALL of my stories will definitely NOT pass the new rules.

I think you're probably correct about validation suggesting that the story has been checked for content and conforms to the rules. However there may be a simpler explanation for 'published', meaning that the story has been posted but not checked, may be reported in the future and deleted if it does not conform to site policy. Don't really see any conspiracy to steal stories from writers.

You know, what sucks about the whole thing is there was really a genuine concern for the content. Some people just started writing the creepiest freak you out stuff that they wanted to do to kids in a story.

But then there are other writers, who simply saw the opportunity writing a FICTION story involving underage people presented. But what happened is staff allowed a couple of loadmouth people labeling any content with underage people in it as pedophiles. I would have thought this site, apart from any site, would not have fallen for allowing for it's content to be labeled.

I mean really, isn't this entire place the kind that could be LABELED for perverts and sexual deviants? What's separating this site from being seen as sexually lewd? People are offering others sex, showing their goodies in pictures, talking about experiences. Someone should have put their foot down about a couple of post from self righteous crusaders get half the writing regulars in a bind. I say why stop there, why don't we let every thread putting down a subject being done in another forum until we're all standing around wondering what is politically incorrect.

Just remember guys, there is a DIFFERENCE between a writer and a pedophile. The big difference being I'm not touching a child while writing. Or before writing, or after writing. I was just thinking what would be something interesting to write.

 

There might be something to that. Sadly other people believe that if you write about something your really getting into it for the perversion value rather than the story telling value.... I posted a new story YAY... and I'll keep writing weather here or elsewhere... I'll keep writing and my fans will figure out where I am eventually

 

There isn't a contract between site members and site owners because none of us are using our legal names. We are in use of this site under pseudonyms, and thusly cannot be held to a contract. So the site owners are responsible to police their domain to whatever extent they wish.

I agree with ejls and would wait until things are officially decreed. There is no use trying to abandon a sailing ship.

 

My pet peeve: the new disclaimers in the thread titles. "No underage content in this story!!" "Politically Correct Filth Zone!" "For mature audiences only!!!!" (Now there's an oxymoron!)

*giggles* I'm guilty of it! The rewrite of "Playing Doctor" now reads "Playing Doctor - The Morally Correct Version" :excited: Although in my case the rewrite is a parody. Oh, but the fun I could have tweaking some of these 'unwanted' stories . I wish all the authors would follow my lead and pick one of their stories to make a parody out of. The site could make an entire theme tag for it - "morally/politically correct underaged content." There should be a warning sign on the door, however: For morally correct perverts ONLY! Look don't be me wrong. I don't in any way shape or form condone using a child as a sex object. If I had a daughter, which I don't, my life would automatically be bonded to her in that if anyone did some shit to my daughter that I feel was meant sexually, I'd more than likely kill them. And I don't mean that figuratively, I might regret that shit afterwards, but in all likelihood I'd commit my first murder.

But with that being said, if anyone on this site should have a problem with pedophilia it's the writers on here. Do you really think I want people looking at my stories and thinking I like underage girls? In fact, both of my stories involved male characters that were underage specifically because if I had do it with girls and someone had called me out for it, I would have had a serious problem. Because I don't give a fuck what you think about me, I'm not about to let someone who probably on a scale of acceptable to fucked has done way worse shit than I've ever done. For someone on this site to call me out for being a pedophile is like calling someone out for letting their dog shit in your yard, but you've got a cat that gets outside and shits in your neighbors yard. For all I know you could have a finger in your own little girls ass while calling me a pedophile, so I'm not even about to act like just because you seem to be trying to do the right thing that you have a right to tell me about myself and my content.

My first story was about a kid getting fucked by his older male cousin. I've never fucked or been fucked by a male cousin, brother, uncle, any male in my family, nor do I desire to. I just thought the story up, put my own little twist and angles of things I thought would be appealed to the kind of people that read those kinds of stories. Because that's who I'm writing for. I let everyone know in the heading that there was going to be guy on guy action. So all those people who may come on (though no one did this on my story) and call me a fag or a pedophile because of some shit I didn't do but wrote about mean nothing to me. Like, why the fuck would you come check my story out if you don't like that kind of shit?

A couple of months ago I was just going through stories. I came across a story that had an interesting enough title, and it said that there were young girls in it and shit. Cool. I don't have a problem with reading a story with an underage girl in it as long as it's not too outrageous. Long story short, some of the girls were too young for my taste, the content was a little outrageous and perverted for me. You wanna know what I did? I changed the fucking page. I didn't sit there and keep reading, shaking my head and wondering what this sick mother fucker was thinking when he/she wrote it. I didn't leave a comment telling he/she I hope they get arrested and raped in jail for being such a pervert. I got the hell out of the thread and went to read something else. Why? Because I'm on a fucking sex/adult/porn forum. I knew exactly the kind of shit I did and didn't want to see when I came on here, and I knew, like I know when I get on any porn site, it's going to be some shit on there that I don't want to see.

So for all those people jumping on the people they perceive as pedophiles, you should really stop and think these couple of things.

1) Is it hurting me personally?

2) Do I know for a fact this person has done shit like this?

3) Why hasn't someone else addressed this problem?

4) Have I ever done some shit that was taken the wrong way by someone else?

5) If yes to the last question, how would I feel about that situation if I knew they were thinking the same thing about me that I'm thinking about these other people?

It's like, why the fuck does it have to be so hard for people trying to get away from this squeaky clean life we all have to live where everything is politically correct and proper to find someplace where I can do me, you can do you, and I can rest easy knowing there is at least somewhere that I can go to let my fantasies go wild?

 

Authors who seek out the few remaining uncensored venues do so for a spectrum of reasons.

I cannot speak for all of them. I can only impart my own perspective. I am posting my books here, because I have a fictional story to tell, and this is one of the few remaining places in which I can write whatever serves the story. I do not decide to write about incest, or to write about bestiality, or to write about sex between adults and children (the word for this act still seems to be in contention around here). Maybe some of the other writers do pick the topic first, and appeal to a fetish. I do not. For me, the story line comes first.

As an author, I will neither judge the motivations of other authors, nor judge the work that they have written. In this free, uncensored place (more or less), the other authors have as much right to post whatever they want as I do, and for whatever reason.

That said, others might not necessarily feel the same way.

Other authors might be inclined to judge the motivations and work of their peers.

More to the point, the readers have as much right to judge the work that they read here for whatever reason, as the authors have a right to post it.

If, in the process of judging what they read, they drive authors away, and spoil the site's reputation as an uncensored venue, and eventually force it to close... then, well, it closes. Cause and effect.

But I can hardly complain about that. I can't demand my right to post whatever I damned well please, and at the same time deny the readers (and even some of the authors) their right to react however they damn well please.

Bottom line: this is not a fair world.
