Sanders could have beaten Clinton, if the Nation wanted his policies, the Nation didn't.

 

Sanders was much like Trump. He had his party against him. In Sanders case he wasn't able put up a good fight against the crooks.
Trump was able to give as good or better than he got.
Both men had the news media and their own party against them. Sanders chose not to fight. Trump decided to fight.
Trump won.

 

Bernie Sanders political opinions were far too left of American sensibilities .

He would have lost to trump by an even larger margin .

I think that Joe Biden would've had a much better chance. But even he would've had to deal with the long running American distaste for electing sitting vice presidents.

Former Vice President Joe Biden questioned the Democratic Party's strategy for targeting middle-class voters, suggesting Sunday that Democrats "haven't spoken enough to the fears and aspirations to the people we come from."

"Because of the negative campaign that [President Donald] Trump ran, how much did we hear about that guy making 50,000 bucks on an assembly line, [and] the woman — his wife — making $28,000 as a hostess?" Biden asked a crowd of 1,200 at a campaign rally here.

"They have $78,000, two kids, [are] living in a metropolitan area, and they can hardly make it," he said. "When was the last time you heard us talk about those people?"

Biden took the train from his home in Delaware on Sunday to campaign alongside Phil Murphy, the front-runner to win the Democratic nomination for the New Jersey governor's race on June 6.

Murphy, who was the U.S. ambassador to Germany during the Obama administration, is ahead of the likely Republican nominee, Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, in a head-to-head matchup — 50 percent to 25 percent — in the latest Quinnipiac poll.

A survey of younger Americans who have grown up since the Cold War ended shows a surprising level of support for socialism and communism, according to the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, which commissioned the opinion poll.

The report found that 53 percent of Americans younger than 35 are dissatisfied with the current economic system and think that "socialism" may be good for them. About 45 percent of young people say they would be willing to vote for a socialist candidate for president — a trend the Victims of Communism group calls "the Bernie Sanders bounce," referring to strong support among young people for the unsuccessful presidential candidacy of the Vermont senator, who describes himself as a democratic socialist.

Marion Smith, executive director of the Washington-based foundation, told VOA the growing acceptance of socialist viewpoints among members of the millennial generation - those who have come of age since the year 2000 - is a result of a lack of basic knowledge of communism and how it operated during the 20th century.

Marion Smith fails to distinguish between Communism and democratic socialism. When young people think about socialism they do not think of the Soviet Union. They think about what capitalism means for them. What it means for many of them is stagnant or declining incomes and unpayable student loans in an economy in which the rich keep getting richer.

During the last quarter of the nineteenth century, and again during the 1920's economic inequality increased, but the standard of living for most Americans increased too, so few worried that the rich were getting richer faster. Now, more do worry about that, especially young people.

When young people think about the Cold War they do not think about the Hungarian Uprising of 1956 and the Berlin Wall. They think about the tragic, stupid waste of the War in Vietnam.

Bernie Sanders is probably too old to run in 2020. Nevertheless, if the economy does not turn around during Trump's first term, a Democrat who agrees with Bernie will be hard to defeat in 2020.

 

Poor old Joe, still sharp as a marble.

 

If the arrogant liberals continue their biased and unsupported attacks on President Trump they will continue to lose elections; not because their candidate is a worse one than Trump, but because Americans are not nearly as stupid as arrogant liberals think they are. If they continue their biased attacks on President Trump and his administration, and continue to attack Trump supporters, they will be hard pressed to win an election for dogcatcher in Dogpatch USA.

The Washington Post and The New York Times hated Nixon. They hate Trump. Nixon was reelected in 1972 by a landslide. Then The Washington Post and The New York Times went to work on him. In less than two years they had destroyed his presidency. Nixon left the White House in disgrace. That is how history views him.

Nixon began from a much stronger position than Trump.

So, how many seats have Democrats taken from Republicans since Trump became President?

And one slight difference between Nixon and Trump; Nixon was actually guilty of breaking the law.

If Trump cooperated with the Russians to defeat Hillary he certainly did break the law. He may even be guilty of treason.

During most of the Watergate Investigation it was not clear that Nixon had broken the law. When it became clear, the vast majority of the electorate turned against him.

By contrast, as more salacious details of the Monica Lewinsky "scandal" leaked out Bill Clinton's approval rating went up.

 

The people were just glad to see Clinton get a nice piece of ass. Imagine having to pork Hillary.
