KAW # 1 The Maiden Race - Reboot

A new beginning for a clean race.

Oooh what a lovely idea!!

I would like to throw my hat (and underwear) into the ring and announce my intent to join in with this challenge. I actively encourage as many maiden writers to join with me!

I've said elsewhere that if anyone (especially, but not neccessarily, new writers) would like a quick read-through I'm happy to give whatever limited time I have to spare to do a read-through for typos or other errors.

I was nervous about posting my first few stories, and made a few glaring newbie errors, so if I can assist anyone else I'd be happy to oblige as well.

As I said in the last thread, I'm in and my story is finished at last.

It will stand or fall on its own and hopefully it shall leave a few 'innocent' mouths hanging slackjawed. Though from laughter or otherwise we shall find out in time.

 

I started a story a few days ago and hope no more life issues distract me, so I can write more to it.Good luck to everyone

 

I shall be joining the KAW and I just want to put it out there right here and now that my story will be a true and factual story based on a huge life changing event in my life. I think it is time to let it go and I cannot think of anywhere or anyone else than here and y'all to share it with.

Whether anyone likes or enjoys it is another matter altogether but it is more a fact of getting it off my chest and out of my head for the first time in two years since it occurred.

So I do hope people will join in.

Broot I assume the clarifications I asked of horse while he was in charge still apply since you took over this puppy I figure I'd double check.

Specifically I asked Horse if there was a problem with mine that I started a while before the contest was announced. He didn't give a shit and said it was all good.

and the other being if it was ok to post on the story site side and just give you the link when its up. He seemed to say it was fine but then three or so posts later and the whole thread exploded.

 

As for the pre-started story that is no Problem as long as it follows the rules of not being published in any form elsewhere.

Yes you can post on the story side, the forum side or both. I would suggest both. I will make sure there is a list of entrants in a thread so all stories get equal read time.

 

Well, I'm underway with my entry, although I am finding it tricky to get things the way I want them. I am, nonetheless around a third of the way through. It's tough!

Thanks, Broot. I'm at a sticking point at the moment, but I have the whole of tomorrow to overcome it. It's tricky.

 

If you need to bounce it off of someone feel free to let me know. I would be more than happy to take a look and see if I can see a way around the wall.

 

Well not that Broot have given his consent, I'm back. My entry is about half-done and I hope that I will be able to entertain a few people at least.

As I look around I see many big names and I feel slightly cowered, but I shall not give in. I shall post and I shall ride a wave of comments about it and when it peters out, I shall sift through it, extract the constructive and ban the rest.

I feel silly because my entry is essentially done, but now I keep tinkering with it and I'm afraid I'll introduce some sort of error or inconsistency in the weeks I have to wait to post it.

 

That is where the good stuff happens. Read it out loud to yourself. Look for areas that are hard to read. Look for areas where you use the same word to many times in a row. Then a couple of days before you submit it ask your proofreader to go over it one more time.

You have no idea how much I tinkered with the debt before I finally turned it in.
